Forty-first Chapter

Joanne was the perfect doctor for Anna. She was soft, she was warm, she was motherly. Exactly what Anna needed, especially since I wasn't going to be there all the time. The hospital was also slightly more expensive than the former. I found out when the doctor invited David and I into her office. To sign paperwork, of course. On one document she gave exclusively to David, I caught a glimpse of the down payment sum. I couldn't believe David casually made such a payment for someone he barely knew. It was completely absurd. Almost unreal.

Her new hospital was a bit far from where I lived so I dedicated today to buying her some snacks, and other items she would need. I was frying myself some bacon and eggs for breakfast, with some extra to take to her when I heard a knock on the door. It was more of a bang than a knock, raising my suspicion as to who it was.

I was inches away from the door when the knock came again. “I'm coming,” I yelled. "Jeez."
