Fifth Chapter

Rain's parents were too stunned to say a word when he insinuated that I keep him company while they are away. I was too stunned to speak as well. It didn't sound like he was asking, it was more of a subtle demand. An assertion. A sexy one at that. I just couldn't say no.

Rain drove his parents and I to the airport. Rather uncomfortably, I sat in the passenger seat, occasionally receiving death glances from his mother through the rear mirror. She was telling me not to mess up, not to screw things up, and above all, not to forget why I was even here in the first place. Her death stares were definitely working, because I started to second guess returning to the mansion with Rain.

Finally, her eye harassment came to an end. More to my relief than hers. Before Rain could properly park the truck, I hurriedly unbuckled my seatbelt. The moment he turned off the ignition, I hastily jumped down as carefully as I could. I didn't want him to repeat the action he performed earlier in front of his parents. I needed his father to be interested in me and I needed his mother to not suspect a thing.

Thankfully, Rain didn't notice my motive behind getting out in a hurry. He walked to the back of the truck to begin taking out their bags. A ramp operator approached us in a short while, bringing a trolley with him. After a short greeting, he started to load their bags into the trolley. In a short while he was done and ready to escort them in for their flight.

I had been quietly standing in the same position, watching the family do their thing. I was not part of the family, and to be honest, I didn't want to be. A mother who pays someone to sleep with her husband, a husband who will in fact cheat on his wife, and their son who is completely oblivious to it all. They were the perfect pretentious family.

“Well then," Chyna announced, wrapping her arm around her husband like new couples in love.

“You both take care," she continued, watching Rain as he walked to stand beside me.

“And no funny business while we're away."

She was giving a stern warning, and I knew she wasn't speaking to Rain.

I heard Rain chuckling under his breath. “Yes mother," he muttered. "We'll play nice.” but his tone suggested otherwise.

With one last hard look at us, mostly me, she turned to her husband who's eyes had undoubtedly been on me the whole time. “Let's go honey."

His first response was a small grunt. "Take care, you two.” he said after clearing his throat.

"You both too, dad.”

While the goodbye's were going around, I awkwardly stood, wondering if I was also to say something, and if I was, what was the right thing to say? After a little self confliction, I settled for a nervous wave paired with an even more nervous smile. David locked eyes with me one last time before turning his back to me. Rain and I stood in silence until his parents were safely behind the airport doors.

“Now let's have some fun."

He blurted. Before I had any time to react he opened the passenger door, took my hand and basically shoved me into the truck, rather gently actually. I was still twisting and turning in confusion when he closed the doors, scurried to the driver's side and hopped in. He was suddenly bursting with energy, it made me giggle.

Watching with a wide smile as he started the ignition, I couldn't hold my thoughts anymore. “What's going on?"

With an even bigger grin on his face, he pulled the car out into the road. He then turned to me with excited eyes. "I'm throwing us a party.” he announced.

My jaw instantly dropped.

****

The mansion was crawling with people, young adults all ready to knock their socks off. I saw all types of people, the handsome, the pretty, the lonely, the ugly and even the people pleasers. If each group had a color, it was like a rainbow in the mansion.

Somehow, Rain had managed to send every maid home, including the old lady, Tess. We had the house to ourselves and it was fast becoming a big mess. Not to mention the terrible smell of weed and alcohol that infiltrated the air. The music was so loud, people had to scream to hear each other. Even when you didn't hear what the other person said, just nod with a foolish grin and they will assume you understood.

I had a hard time mixing with any sort of crowd, especially not a party crowd, so I completely alienated myself from the living area, which was where they mostly were. I couldn't handle the smell of alcohol and weed either. I had never tried any and I wasn't going to start now.

“Oh my God, yesss,"

That, accompanied by the loud screeching sounds that excited girls make, was the first thing I heard when I walked into the kitchen. It came from a group of girls. I quickly counted in my head to notice there were five of them. They all had short dresses, heels and makeup on. The usual party attire. I quickly decided that I didn't want to be in the kitchen anymore and turned to leave.

“Hey," I heard behind me, causing me to freeze. “How did a dork like you get into this party?”

They all erupted in a loud, mocking, girly laughter. No chance I was going to turn to them, I was only going to make it worse. Just leave, Raya, I told myself. I made the effort to move again.

“Hey you!" I could tell by the stern tone and harsh voice that it was a different girl. “Are you deaf?" she spat. “Can't you see she's talking to you?"

I was frozen still, completely oblivious as to what I was going to do. Confronting them was not an option. They were five vicious girls who were intoxicated, high or both. Beating me up was going to be easy. My only options were to run or apologize.

I slowly turned towards them, taking quick glances at each of them. They were very pretty, and wealthy too. I didn't stand a chance. “I'm sorry," I whispered.

Their stern faces instantly lightened up, like a hungry pet who was just given its favorite snack. "That's more like it,” the mean one from earlier said. I could tell by her voice, and by her looks, she was definitely Asian.

“Find Rain,” she began then stopped. “Do you know who Rain is?”

When I nodded in response, she nodded alongside. "Good, find him and get us a bottle of whiskey.”

She flashed her empty glass at me, insinuating that it needed to be filled. I quietly nodded before turning around to leave. There was no way in hell I was going to get them that bottle, but I did need to find Rain. The last time I saw him, he was standing at the in-house balcony, with one hand over some guy who was the DJ for the night, and a bottle of whiskey in the other.

I made my way up the stairs, trying to shield my eyes from the shameless couples who had their mouths in each other's faces and their hands in each other's clothes. I finally made my way to the top of the stairs, there was still no sign of Rain. I contemplated asking the young man who was the DJ or search room after room. I chose the latter, proceeding to open the first door.

I barged into two girls and a guy touching themselves in the most uncomfortable way possible. The first thing they did was to scream at me. “Sorry," I mumbled, closing the door in an instant. I was now scared about opening the rest of the doors. I didn't know how much my eyes could take. Just then an idea came to mind. I quickened my feet, heading towards his room.

I got there, pushing the knob to open the door. It was locked. I tried again and again, but I couldn't get in. Amidst all the trying, I started to hear noises from the other side of the door. I stopped fondling the knob to make sure I was hearing right. I was further down the hallway so the music was not as loud as it was downstairs. As I stood frozen, I was sure I was hearing noises. I quietly pressed my ear on the door. My eyes grew bigger when I heard them properly. Noises that I cannot mistake for anything else. Moaning noises that could only come from one action and one action only, sex.

I kept my ear pressed to the door, trying to convince myself it was Rain's voice, but it was pointless. I was unsure and I was fast getting grossed out. I pushed myself away from the door, anger starting to boil at the bottom of my stomach. The nerve he had to abandon me in the midst of people I have never seen before to have sex with some random chick. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became.

I stormed down the hall, heading towards the party. I was so angry, I needed to do something drastic. I was going to act without thinking. If he was having fun, then so should I. I got to the top of the stairs, looking both sides for the victim of my drastic act. From the corner of my eye, I caught sight of the slightly drunk DJ. He had a bottle in his hand, jamming to the song with the other. I thought about it for a quick second. It was a party, I was never going to see him again, he was drunk, and will probably never remember me. It was the perfect drastic act.

I matched towards him, fist tightened, mind made up. Without a bone of hesitation, I spun him around and slammed my lips into his. I immediately had the disgusting taste of alcohol pushed into my mouth. It made my body shudder, but I was determined to keep going. I shut my eyes, forcing myself to enjoy the moment, but I wasn't. He wasn't making it any better either. He was a terrible kisser. I wasn't sure if it was because he was drunk or I just picked the wrong person to kiss.

I was already regretting my actions when a strong force tore him away from me. “Stay away from her you prick!" Was the next thing I heard before punches were thrown.
