Time seemed to fly when you had a million things to do. That was precisely how it felt, being the unwilling maid of honor for my ex and my sister’s wedding. The biggest challenge I faced now was finding a church for their ceremony. Amanda, of course, was impossible to please. Even with less than a month until the wedding, she still couldn’t make up her mind.

It wasn’t just me saying that—we were currently walking down the aisle of my last option, the cathedral in the neighboring city. Amelia and Amanda were walking ahead of me, and I could hear their ridiculous complaints.

“Doesn’t it look a bit old, Mom? I want something more modern,” my half-sister complained, arm linked with my stepmother’s.

“You can’t ask a cathedral to be more modern. But yes, we will need to do a lot of work to bring it up to our standards. How’s the choir here, Marianne?” Amelia turned to ask me.

“It’s available on the wedding date. They’re well respected in the city,” I replied.
