I can’t believe it. Mia thought when she was locked up in a room, even two armed men were now guarding behind the door. Anger made her unable to sit still. She waited in the room for a long time, but until dinner was delivered, the man she was waiting for did not come either.
“I don’t need these foods. Bring it all back, and let me out!” she exclaimed irritably at the young man delivering a trolley full of food.
The young man looked calm, as if no one was talking in the room.
Feeling neglected, Mia started screaming and didn’t touch the food served.
“At least tell me where Jaxon Bradwood is. I don’t want to be in this place, and I need to talk to him!” Mia held the young man’s arm as he was about to sneak out this time.
The young man released Mia’s grip, leaving her locked. At least an hour later, the man she was waiting for came over to her. Mia waited in anticipation when she heard the sound of a lock, and his figure filled the door.
At first, they just stared at each other in silence. Jaxon’s gaze her silently. His eyes looked at Mia with an unusually intense gaze, as if he was about to map her body from head to toe. Mia, who felt uneasy, unconsciously moved backward to the corner of the room.
“I want to get out of here,” Mia said after she mustered up her courage and found her voice again.
“Too bad, Miss Heart, I can’t let you go,” said Jaxon in a deep masculine voice.
“But that old man guaranteed my freedom after my mission was completed!” she exclaimed a little frantically.
“That’s your business with him, while my business with you is not finished.”
Mia walks backward when Jaxon approaches, but her steps are stopped by the wall behind her.
“What do you want?” Mia swallowed her saliva and avoided Jaxon’s gaze.
Seeing the fear in her eyes stopped Jaxon’s steps.
“When you first saw me, you shamelessly sniffed my scent. Where was that brave girl, Mia?”
Mia caught a glimpse of Jaxon’s grin. For a moment, she wanted to hit his arrogant face.
“Tell me what you want from me?”
Jaxon’s flat face without emotion returned. He didn’t understand what had changed Mia’s brave personality with her current attitude. The two of them were silent for a long time, creating dead air in the room.
“Stay in Denver,” Jaxon finally said.
“I have to go back home, Mr. Bradwood!” Mia refused firmly.
Jaxon could see her stubbornness.
“This is not a discussion but an order.” Jaxon’s flat words made Mia focus back on him. She assessed his voice tone and the look he gave at her.
“If I don’t obey you, what will you do to me?” Mia asked in a curious tone.
Mia’s hair shuddered at Jaxon’s grin, which this time was far from ordinary.
“Trust me, you won’t like my answer,” he whispered in her ear before walking toward the door.
Mia felt goosebumps hearing his rich voice, which made her frozen in place while her eyes were glued to Jaxon’s back, who slowly moved away toward the door.
“Did you take me to the motel that night?”
Jaxon’s steps stopped. He turned to look at Mia, who stubbornly stared at him daringly.
Jaxon watched Mia for a long time. Both seemed to share a secret moment even though only Jaxon was fully aware of the events at GC at that time. But he was pretty surprised that Mia remembered that night.
“How…?”
“You left your coat at the motel, your scent ...” Mia averted her eyes and lowered her face deeply, unable to make eye contact with his intense black bead eyes. A red hue radiated from her neck to her cheeks.
Jaxon held back a smile because of her innocent reaction. He was amazed by the change in her beautiful face when she blushed.
Without embarrassing his guest any further, Jaxon remained silent and left her alone. Sometimes it is better not to say anything.
…
After Jaxon’s departure, Mia decided to lie down. She repeated their conversation. Even though she doesn’t fully remember the incident at GC, She is sure that Jaxon is behind the breakfast event that morning. Even the black suit had the same scent as its owner.
Now, she doesn’t know what to do because it looks like Jaxon doesn’t want to be found by her on purpose. Remembering her struggles over the past few weeks ignited her anger. Mia believes Jaxon Bradwood is behind her difficulties in finding the man all this time.
If it weren’t for this morning’s weird Headline, she would still be spinning aimlessly in Denver like a fool.
Now she must find a way to leave the castle and return to Blueberry Hill, continuing her boring life. At least in Blueberry, she’s a free independent girl.
Seeing how the residents of Denver were so protective of Jaxon Bradwood, Mia realized that Jaxon was not someone she took lightly. The man took control of Denver and saw how Aurelia Castle the first time she entered this place, proving the man had wealth, power, and something more significant.
Mia isn’t stupid, and she’s not blind either. Jaxon Bradwood is reasonably feared in Denver, and she is very familiar with how power plays.
…
Two days passed after Mia arrived at Aurelia Castle, and not once did Jaxon returns there. He prefers to occupy his private room in the Red Cage Club building.
“Morning,” he said to Rey, who was brewing coffee and only grumbled back.
Jaxon and Rey are used to getting up earlier than the others, but usually, Rey prefers to be left alone while enjoying breakfast. Even an insensitive Gavin understood the ritual that should not be interrupted very well.
The two handsome men dissolved into silence while enjoying coffee on their chairs.
“You didn’t return to your castle?” asked Rey, seemingly finished with his morning ritual.
Jaxon chose not to answer.
“Some of my subordinates said there was a strange movement at the south,” said Rey, who had Jaxon’s full attention.
“Nothing in there.” Jaxon put away his coffee cup and looked at Rey.
But Rey disagrees with that because he hasn’t finished providing his information.
“A few days ago, they saw two Harley motorbikes parked in front of an empty house. At first, they thought it belonged to a local, but one of the bike’s owners came out, and he was wearing the Predator’s cut. “
Jaxon’s posture became serious. They both know Predator is not a small motorcycle club and cannot be taken lightly. Each club has its area of power, and they cannot just enter someone else’s territory without permission if they don’t want to have beef with another club.
“Did your subordinates interrogate them?”
“Yes, they said they were just passing through, and that empty house used to belong to one of their member’s uncles.”
Jaxon snorted, showing his disbelief, as did Rey, who shook his head.
“We’ll see the next few days. I’m sure they’ll come back.” Jaxon got up from his chair and left the kitchen.
Gavin, who came from the opposite direction, stopped Jaxon’s steps. He cursed silently when he found Gavin’s annoying expression.
“Ah, Jaxon. I didn’t think I could find you here,” he said with a mock grin.
“As I recall, the room you are currently sleeping in has long been converted into a home for cobwebs since your belove castle was completed.”
Jaxon refrained from rolling his eyes.
“Did you run away from your castle just because an innocent girl invaded your place, Jaxon?” Gavin patted Jaxon’s shoulder with a gesture of mock sympathy. “You shouldn’t be afraid of that gentle creature, Jaxon, but I can understand how you feel because it is hard to resist God’s temptation to tease creatures like us.”
Jaxon brushed off Gavin’s arm, which was starting to grip his shoulders. He cursed loudly with annoyance. Sometimes Gavin likes to say something without meaning. Jaxon never even understood the entirety of what Gavin was saying.
“Rey, you better silent your pet before I run out of patience,” said Jaxon with a face ready to kill.
Gavin raised his hands to the air in a gesture of peace and gave Jaxon away.
Jaxon’s body disappeared behind another room door. Rey’s gaze landed on Gavin, who decided to sit opposite him.
“Now’s not the time to joke around, Gavin. There’s a lot in Jaxon’s head right now.”
And as ever, Gavin just shrugged as if the warning meant nothing.
Rey sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. His mind is also full at the moment, many things have happened lately, and Mia’s arrival only adds to new problems. Sometimes he considers taking time off on vacation because he needs it these days.
Four days. Mia mumbles while pacing in her locked room. She did not think Jaxon had kept her prisoner for four days in the castle. She had never seen Jaxon since four days ago. It felt like she wanted to scream in frustration. “Hey! I know someone is behind this door. Don’t pretend you didn’t hear me! I need the sun and fresh air!” She pounded on the door in front of her many times, but there was no response. She hated the feeling of helplessness. Several times Mia banged on the door again until finally, she felt tired, then left the door and lay on the bed. That was her position when Jaxon entered the room a few hours later. “Four days, Mr. Bradwood. You kept me prisoner for four days! “Mia slowly got up and sat opposite Jaxon, standing on the other side. “I’m not holding you, Miss Heart. This is just a special treatment that I rarely give my guests.” Mia was about to say something, but Jaxon gave a silent gesture with one hand raised. “Before you say something that will only ge
Two men lay helplessly inside the dungeon of the Red Cage Building. Bloodstained both of the man’s clothes. Their gaze was half focused on a figure standing in the center of the room. A tall body rose with clenched fists drenched in fresh blood that dripped onto the ends of his shiny leather shoes. “That’s enough, Jax,” said Rey, who had been watching Jaxon beat up the two men to death. Jaxon didn’t listen to Rey’s words. His hands quickly grabbed the forearm from behind his back. Jaxon seemed to shut down his conscious senses to his surroundings, drowning in the murderous desire that enveloped his body. “Jax!” Rey rushed towards Jaxon and pulled out his elbow, aimed at the two men. “They’re already helpless, brother,” he whispered as he tapped Jaxon’s shoulder, bringing him to his senses. Jaxon’s mood has been bad lately. He didn’t want Jaxon to return to being the monster that ruled him. “You know how I work, Rey. These two men clearly challenge me. “ Yesterday they found more
Since morning Mia has explored the room in Aurelia Castle. She was amazed by this building. Even though this castle is a new building, everything in the castle depicts medieval style. Grand but classic and extraordinary. Now she can’t sleep after dinner. Her mind is always wandering to Blueberries. She still has no permission to take her personal belongings, including her cell phone. She thought about Matt, who must be worried. Not wanting to be lost in evil thoughts, Mia decided to leave the room, and maybe by going around the castle, she could divert her mind. Mia remembered the library shown by a butler named Snow. Seeing a large room’s neatly arranged collection of books on shelves made Mia even more amazed by the castle. Mia brought herself to the library in slow steps and was careful not to wake anyone at this late hour. Her steps stopped when she found a masculine figure facing the window, his back to her. With one hand in his pocket, while the other holding a crystal glass,
Mia’s face flushed red, remembering what happened last night. Luckily it was too early, so the dining table was quiet, and only a few servants were on duty. Even though she prayed that morning, Jaxon was not at Aurelia Castle because she could not make eye contact with his beautiful dark eyes. “Did you sleep well?” And that hope was dashed as his masculine voice filled the quiet dining room. “Yes,” Mia replied, lowering her head even more without even looking at Jaxon, who was sitting at the head of the table not far from her. Jaxon saw Mia’s reaction. He worked hard to keep his delighted grin hidden. It’s too early to make fun of the poor girl. A servant came into the room with a trolley full of food. After having breakfast served, Mia ventured to glance at Jaxon. For some reason, Jaxon had become handsome several times this morning. Even though only with a white shirt whose sleeves are folded to the elbows, and wet hair after a bath, he looks younger. His dark eyes seemed to glo
Living in Denver is not as bad as Mia thought. Quite the opposite. She made new friends very fast. All the employees at De La Crush treat her friendly. Normally at Blueberry Hill, she would spend her free time cooped up in her studio apartment, but in Denver, she was invited to hang out most nights after her shift was done. Sometimes her new friends invite her to several clubs or just hang out at a nearby cafe, and she feels happy that her days are no longer alone. Her sandwich lunch ends with the arrival of a collection of foods from an unknown man who left the food with Grant. She felt sure that Jaxon was behind it all. Even though he visited De La Crush numerous times and asked Mia to accompany him for dinner or lunch, Jaxon never visited her apartment, which baffled her. After all, having dinner together doesn’t mean they are exclusive, right? Thinking of a relationship with a man like Jaxon is also impossible. A man like him sure has a catalog of beautiful women in every corne
The voices of conversation woke Mia. Her head moved slightly when she heard Jaxon say something to someone. “I want to vomit,” complained Mia. She fumbled around and grabbed Jaxon’s shirt to catch his attention. “Shhh ... we almost there, Mia.” Jaxon tightened his hug, which made her realize the two of them were in the back seat of Jaxon’s private SUV. Jaxon had rushed out of the Sugar Trap without saying goodbye to his friends, and he knew that his six best friends must have witnessed the scene from the bar. And Jaxon could hear their laughter as he was in pain, enduring the bottle hit from Mia repeatedly. While holding back his annoying memory, Jaxon pulled Mia back to his lap. She started struggling and was about to sit on his next. “Mia, calm down!” he hissed with a low voice, but Mia could feel his anger that hardly Jaxon controlled to make her obey him. “Jaxon, I can’t stand anymore,” she whined again a few minutes later. Jaxon took a deep breath. “Fritz, turn around to
The sound of footsteps from the hallway woke Mia. She suddenly got up from the bed and walked slowly towards the door to see who was behind. Her heart skipped a beat as she heard the faint sound of footsteps pacing back and forth along the hallway. Mia glanced at the clock above the nightstand. It was still one in the morning. She slowly opened the door, and suddenly she was stunned to find Jaxon alone. “What are you doing?” Mia asked with a low voice and made Jaxon, who was not focused on his surrounding, almost jump from his skin, but Mia didn’t feel guilty at all, even though she glared sharply at him. His hair, usually smooth and neat, looks messy as if he was only combing it with his fingers, while the buttons of his white shirt under his jacket are open to reveal his smooth broad chest skin. Jaxon didn’t answer right away. He stared at Mia for a long time with an unusually gentle gaze. “I asked, what are you doing, Jaxon,” Mia repeated. Jaxon approached Mia without answering
Mia saw Jaxon walking away from their car. Then, she noticed the bimbo standing in the parking lot, smiling broadly at Jaxon, who was approaching her. Mia couldn’t see Jaxon’s face, who turned his back from her. Her heart was full of jealousy as Jaxon’s steps got closer to the bimbo. Mia didn’t blink her eyes away at the two figures, even though the SUV she was riding just moved away without waiting for Jaxon, who was now standing in front of the woman. “Wait a minute, Jaxon is still outside.” Mia stopped Fritz, who was driving the SUV. “Mr. Bradwood ordered to take you to the apartment, Miss Heart,” answered Joe, sitting next to Fritz. “But ...” Mia’s words stopped. Now she feels confused about why Jaxon left her and chose the bimbo instead. Her gaze remained fixed on the two persons standing in front of De La Crush till they vanished as soon as the vehicle on the main road passed. “You said Jaxon ordered to drop me off at the apartment?” Mia asked, sounding sad. She wonders wh
