BAB 155 I What's Perfect?

That morning, Jaxon woke up earlier than usual. He even walked with very light steps as he descended the stairs to the kitchen. And as is the custom of the other Red Cage members, there are only Jaxon, Nicko, and Gideon every morning, but their steps stop when they see Rey there.

Seeing his three other friends sitting in their usual chairs, Jaxon chose to join. However, his gaze was focused on Rey sitting next to him.

“You should be looking after Mia right now,” Jaxon said, displeased with his friend’s presence when Mia was alone at the guest house.

“Many people are protecting her,” Rey stated without moving his head from the food in front of his face. “Even grenades will back away from that place.”

Instead of laughing at the joke, Jaxon’s face grew sour.

“I don’t trust anyone but you, so don’t stay here too long,” Jaxon replied as he scrambled for soy sauce with Nicko.

The two men stared at each other before Nicko finally let go of the bottle they were fighting over.
