Hurrying out of the apartment, I wasn’t entirely sure what was going on. Or better yet, what Jack and Sheila were up to. Their efforts to hold back some information made it even more obvious that they were hiding something, which confused me even more. It wasn’t like them to hide things from me.

It wasn’t like them to act this way in general.

“Where to ma’am?” The cab driver asked, breaking me out of my thoughts.

I jumped into the backseat and gave them the direction, texting Luke that I was on my way.

After a short while, we finally reached the docks and after paying the driver off, my gaze caught a figure standing by the small bridge. It was Luke, and as soon as I saw it was him, my heart tightened.

However, after what happened last time, I decided to text Jack my location just in case things went wrong.

Composing myself, I turned and headed towards him. My footsteps were slow and calculating.
