In truth, I was lying.

The excuse about seeing someone else was just a way to push him toward divorce. But the part about meeting someone today—that was real.

Last night, shortly after I had returned to my room, I received a friend request from a stranger on Telegram. He said he had something important to give me and insisted that I meet him at a downtown restaurant at 1 PM.

At first, I dismissed it, uninterested, until he sent me an audio clip that made me reconsider. After hearing it, I agreed to meet him.

Lance leaned over, his hands braced on either side of me, his expression dark and brooding. "Who is it?"

I smiled slightly. "None of your business."

"So you're divorcing me because of him?" he asked.
