Olivia ~•~“I got you something to show you how sorry I am,” Alexander added. “Follow me.” He gestured towards the door. I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should follow him or not. But my curiosity got the best of me, I dropped my package on the counter and trailed behind him as he led me outside. My jaw dropped and I was taken aback by the sight in front of me. Alexander was apologizing to me with an expensive car with a sign saying: “I’m sorry, Olivia.” I felt a mixture of different emotions and I didn’t know how to react. “Olivia.” Alexander turned around and reached for my hands. “I’m really sorry. I’m sorry about everything that happened. I’m sorry that I let my emotions get the best of me.” I opened my mouth to speak but I was at a loss for words. I liked that he apologized to me but I just couldn’t forget about everything that happened just because of an overdue apology. “I was angry at Ethan and I took it out on you,” Alexander added, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
Olivia ~•~ Amanda and I headed back upstairs to meet Alexander. As we entered the room, she grabbed her bag from the chair. “Well, I think this is my cue to leave,” Amanda said with a playful wink, a hint of mischief in her eyes. With a sly smile, she turned and sashayed out the door, leaving Alexander and me alone. “Do you know Ethan did this to me purposely?” I asked as I turned to Alexander. “He called me from prison and said he purposely impregnated me so I would be trapped with him.” Alexander’s eyes grew wide in shock. “Are you serious?” I nodded. “Yeah. Everything is actually your fault. You made him feel insecure and he punished me for it.” “I always knew that man wasn’t good for you.” “Yeah, right.”“But I’m here for you now. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask me.” Alexander said, his eyes locked into mine. “I care about you a lot and the baby doesn’t change anything.” I smiled, feeling grateful to hear those words from Alexander. “Thank you, it means a lot
Olivia ~•~As I continued driving to my mum’s house, I couldn’t stop thinking about what Maya had said to me. Her words were hurtful but they were actually true. I started second-guessing my decision. Was it wrong to accept Alexander’s present? But he seemed like he was genuinely sorry. And yes, I knew the apology wasn’t going to erase all the hurtful things he did but it was a start. Not to defend Alexander but I also didn’t reach out to him for three weeks. Plus, he was the one who even reached out after all. I facepalmed myself with my right hand when I realized I was making excuses for him just to make everything seem okay. I decided to shove those thoughts away and focus on driving to my mum’s house. After about twenty minutes, I pulled up to the driveway. I stepped out of the car and walked to the front door. Before I could even place my hand on the doorbell, the front door swung open. My mum and the twins were standing there with curious looks on their faces. Rowan finall
Olivia ~•~“How was your session?” Alexander asked as I met him at the hospital reception. “I brought you some food.” He held up the white paper bag and handed it to me. I shrugged my shoulders and sat down beside him. “It was good, the doctor said it’s only one month and two weeks before the baby arrives.” I was a little bit scared and nervous. Alexander took my hand in his, giving me a gentle squeeze. “I’m so proud of you.” He said with a wide smile registered across his face. “You’re so strong and now you’re bringing another amazing soul into the world.” I smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over me. I couldn’t wait to meet my little boy. My hands instinctively rested on my stomach. My stomach was finally protruding and I could see all the regular signs of my last pregnancy. “You know, I couldn’t be there for Riley and Rowan’s birth, but I want to be present for the baby’s birth,” Alexander added, his tone more serious.I nodded my head. “Yeah, I want you to be pre
Alexander ~•~I had promised Olivia that I would spend the day with her because I was caught up with work in the morning when we already had plans to go to the hospital for her usual checkup. After I was done going over the paperwork I had to attend to that morning, I packed up and left the office. On my way out, I asked my assistant to hold all my calls because I wasn’t going to be available for the rest of the day. As I drove to meet Olivia at the hospital, I stopped by a restaurant to get some food for her. I wanted her to be well-fed before the arrival of her baby. I didn’t spend much time at the restaurant and soon enough, I arrived at the hospital. I made my way to the entrance and waited for Olivia at the reception. About ten minutes later, I saw her walking towards me. She looked so stressed and exhausted. “How was your session?” I asked when she got close to me. “I bought you some food.” I handed the white paper bag to Olivia. She shrugged, then sat down beside me. “It w
Olivia ~•~“Why do bad things always happen to me?” I whispered to myself as my body began shaking uncontrollably. I had just woken up and the nurses said I had passed out for over twenty-four hours. Tears streamed down my face and I made no effort to stop them. I couldn’t - there was too much pain, both emotionally and physically. I sobbed into my hands, my body trembling with each breath. How did I get into an accident? The car was brand new and I hadn’t even had it for a full month. But somehow, the brakes managed to fail. I was barely able to comprehend what had just happened. The car was meant to be a symbol of a new start. But now, it felt like everything was crumbling around me. “Why do bad things always happen to me?” I asked again, this time louder, my voice thick with anger, hurt, and frustration. The door opened slowly and a male figure appeared in the room. From the way he dressed, I could tell he was the doctor. He held a file and walked towards the bed where I lay
Alexander Burke ~•~I had a stressful day because I had a lot of work to do at the office. But that didn’t stop me from going to visit Olivia at her house. Ever since the accident and miscarriage happened, I always visited her. I mean, I didn’t miss a single day. I wanted her to be back on her feet in no time. I was restless seeing her lying on her bed every day. But the good thing was that she was getting better. And I was grateful for that. On my way to her house, I stopped by the restaurant to get takeouts for her and the kids. It was my regular routine whenever I visited her. At some point, I even contemplated asking her to move in with me, just so I could keep a close eye on her. But I knew Olivia wasn’t going to agree, so I decided to leave it. Soon enough, I arrived at her house. Her sister, Amanda, was the one who answered the door. Olivia’s family never left her alone, one of them was always present in the house with her. “Hey, how is she doing?” I asked Amanda as I wa
Olivia ~•~I felt a little bit relieved when I shared my thoughts with Alexander and he felt the same way. While we waited for the police officer to call back, my mind raced with different thoughts. What if it wasn’t actually an accident? So someone out there hated me to the point where they wanted to see me dead. What if they still had plans to complete their mission because I managed to survive? Fear gripped me on the inside but I managed to stay calm. I didn’t want to make any conclusions until I saw what really happened. A part of me wished it would turn out to be a random desperate stranger because if it was Ethan or anybody else in my vicinity, I was going to be devastated. My heart raced in anticipation as a call came through Alexander’s phone. I assumed it was the police officer and stayed quiet as he talked to the person. It was a brief call. After that, his phone pinged with a text. Alexander looked at me, his expression unreadable, before looking back at his phone.
