BRYNN.

My heart is pounding loudly in my chest and when I turn to look at Felix, he’s already staring at me. I look away at the obstacle we have ahead before climbing off his lap completely.

"Right. I’ll be back." I mumble to no one in particular before getting out of the car. The headlights flash even brighter when I come out of the car, as if mocking me there’s no way I’m sneaking Felix inside without Dad knowing.

Still, I let my legs drag forward and stop when I reach the car’s right door where I know Dad usually comes out from. I place two knocks on the car window and wait. When there’s no response after a while, I lift my hand to place another knock, but it hangs in the air when the driver’s door opens and one of Dad’s men comes out.

"Miss Brynn. It’s you." He says, staying on the other side. I nod and straighten my back. "Dad?"

"Sir isn’t here."

My brows furrows. "What?"

"He’s back at the office. He’s got some things to sort out, so he told me to leave."

My heart leaps with joy
