Gazing at the mirror before her she could not help but feel at a loss. A million thoughts were running through her mind racing at a mile a minute. Sliding her hands down the silky white gown she hummed to herself.
Could she really do this? Was she ready? Would she be able to make the love of her life happy for the rest of their lives?
Shaking her head as if to shoo away the thoughts that haunted her for days she bravely put on a smile.
"I can do this, it's no big deal. Just me tying myself to someone for the rest of my life. No biggie, right?"
She asked the person in her mirror, her face fell when no reply came but of course, she would not get one from her reflection.
"Robin, are you rea-Oh my gosh you look stunning"
Her long-time best friend, Layla gushed entering the room. She admired her friend and bride-to-be. Her excitement far surpassed that of her own. Giving her a disapproving look Layla raised a brow at her, confused as to why her friend was not as excited as she was.
"What's wrong? Aren't you excited? You're getting married!"
She exclaimed in excitement but immediately packed that excitement away when she noticed the look of concern on her friend's face.
Walking up to her she held her by the shoulders, looking into her eyes she tried to comfort her.
"Robin, this is the day we have been waiting for, for the past six months. How can you not be nervous?"
"It's just I thought I would have gotten over the nerves by now but I guess not"
"There is nothing wrong with being nervous, this is the first time you're getting married after all"
"So you're saying if this was not my first time getting married I wouldn't be nervous?"
She teased her friend.
"N-No, I'm saying you wouldn't be as nervous or like you have every right to be nervous"
Raising a brow at her now panicking friend she could not help but smile at Layla trying to piece together a sensible argument.
"Layla, I'm just kidding"
She laughed at her friend who slapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"You. Well, I'm glad you're laughing now, and just remember the people here are here for you"
"Really? I thought they were here cause my mother invited them. I don't even know half of them"
Rolling her eyes at the fact she could not help but get upset at her mother for not even consulting her about the invitations. She sighed at the thought of thanking strangers for coming and celebrating one of her happiest moments with her.
"Hey, I'm here for you and I will definitely make it all about you and not your mother"
"Thanks"
Giving her a side hug Layla kissed her on the cheek and turned to the door to leave.
"Remember this day is about you, good luck"
Giving her a thumbs up before disappearing behind the door Robin could not help but laugh at her friend. Turning back to her full body-length mirror her eyes were more determined than before she finally settled the butterflies in the pits of her stomach.
"Yeah, I can do this. no pressure"
Trying to convince herself by all means her nerves began to set in again.
"Maybe I'll just go to Victor. You know just to see how he's doing definitely not for my own sake"
Nodding at her reflection she envisioned it rolling its eyes at her.
Opening her door she peeked out to see if anyone was in the halls, when she found them empty she went out of her room and made her way to her groom.
Sneakily making her way to his room she found herself standing at his door. Running her hands down her gown she steeled herself once more, raising her hand to the door she was about to knock but stopped when she heard a strange noise coming from inside.
Confused she placed an ear at the door hoping to hear it more clearly. Listening in closely she quickly removed her ear from the door startled by what she heard.
No, no maybe I heard wrong. He would never...Would he?She could not jump to conclusions just yet Victor was far more loyal than any man she had been with and she needed to have faith in him. Throwing away the thoughts that plagued her head she reached for the doorknob, but before she could open it a hand grabbed at her preventing her from going any further.
Looking up at the culprit her eyes widened in surprise at the sight of her mother dressed in an ankle-length white dress. She was beyond appalled at her the sheer audacity of the woman.
"Mom, what the hell are you wearing?"
"What are you doing here?"
She asked in anger, disregarding her question.
"I'm here to see my fiance. What are you doing here?"
Dressed like that?!
"I was in your room looking for you now come on we have to get you ready"
Grabbing her by the wrist she began pulling Robin away from the door, but she refused to comply with her mother. Twisting out of her grasp she held her wrist which began slightly bruising thanks to her mother's tight grip.
"I am not going anywhere, and why are you wearing a white dress?"
"Yes you are we don't have much time until the ceremony begins now come on"
She tried to grab her again but Robin moved back. The action only managed to anger her mother.
"I told you I'm not going anywhere and you still haven't answered me. Why are you wearing a white dress"
"Because it looks good on me and white is a suitable colour for me"
"For my wedding? Mom, this is beyond the crazy things you've done in the past seriously are you-"
"So what? It's not a big deal"
"Not a big deal? Wow, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do that at Marcey's wedding"
"Here we go again, always bringing your sister in. Robin, get over yourself it's not always about you"
"It's my wedding day of course it's about me and I bet Victor would agree with me"
Reaching for the door once again, her mother tried to stop her by standing in front of her. Robin was stunned by the act, confused as to why her mother was trying to prevent her from seeing her groom.
Just what was it that she was trying to hide from her? What secret were they trying to bury?
Robin stared at her mother, bewildered by the sudden behaviour she screamed for her to step aside and allow her to get through. "Mom, move" "No" "Mom!" She remained silent, refusing to move. Having had enough of her stubbornness Robin pushed her mom to the side, tumbling to the floor she began crying out in pain. Rolling her eyes at her overly dramatic mother she pushed the doors open. Waking into the room she heard the strange noises from before louder now that she was inside. Listening more closely to the sounds she could clearly tell that they were moans. No.No.No.No Pushing the doors open she froze in place. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight before her. "R-Robin, what are you doing here?" Victor asked while trying to cover himself with the sheets. His hair was a mess as if someone was repeatedly running their hands through them. The thick smell of sex covered the place and she knew exactly just what he was doing in there. "Robin I can explain." Looking at the
Dawn broke bringing with it the soft chirps of birds and the cool fresh air mixed with its icy touch. A cool breeze entered the room's close confines, causing the teal and white curtains to move along in a dance, revealing a ray of light to seep past them. The ray of light shined over a sleeping Robin, disturbing her peaceful slumber. Grumbling in protest she turned her head to face the other way falling back into the world of dreams. However, her peace was short-lived and her alarm blared at her to wake up. "Are you freaking kidding me?" She cried out in frustration peeling off her covers and slamming a hand over the alarm a shot of relief flooded through her at the seizing of the annoying noise. Throwing her legs off the bed she sat up rubbing her eyes in fatigue. She yelped from her seated position as she stepped on the cap of one of her beers. The floor was covered in empty bottles of beer and the caps littered her dresser and floor. After the events of last night, Robin raide
Entering the room Robin immediately began assessing the situation. Though fear coursed through her she could not risk her own safety. While she was occupied with her fear the man began his assessment of her apartment. Looking around at the small space he was beyond unimpressed. An old washed-out couch, a cracked laptop that sat atop a stained coffee table, what an uninteresting place this was, just like its owner. Going back to Robin he noted her even-toned chocolate skin and curvaceous figure. She was in no way fat but instead quite thick on the thighs and ass. Lifting a brow at her messily tied hair he could not help but sigh at her lack of self-care. "Wh-who are you and what do you want" Snapping back at her eyes he could see the nervous look in her eyes. "We met before" "What?" "Yesterday, we met last night" Last night? How? I came directly home after the whole incident from yesterday, I am sure I did not run into a tall hooded figure in the middle of the driveway or some
When she was a little girl Robin always had some sort of vision of her future. A good marriage with a hardworking husband, two or three kids filling the house with their joyful screams, and a cute golden retriever as the family dog. That was the life she had dreamed of. Instead, she was tossed aside by her fiance on their wedding day, used as a pawn by her own mother, and ridiculed by her sister. Her reality was far from the dream life she had wished for. "I'm sorry, what now?" "Being a mistress to a well-known CEO would mean danger for you. Put simply you would be a target for the media. However, if a marriage between the two of us is established then you would have my protection from the media and they would be less likely to attack you." If it was dangerous for me, why would he care? It's not like we know each other or something so why is he suggesting this for my protection? "Okay, but what is in it for you?" She asked looking up at him from the couch. "It would clear up m
Just as sleep was knocking at her door a different type of knock came from the real world. Groaning at the notification sound she stood up on her hands and looked over at the phone on the coffee table. Scrambling for the device she struggled to get it due to being too lazy to move off her couch. Once she got a hold of it she opened her notifications only to be surprised by the number of messages she received from her best friend. A bit distraught by the overwhelming number of them she made haste to dial her friend. Ring Ring "Layla, I am so sorry I-" "Robin where the heck have you been? Are you alright?" "Y-Yeah I am. Why did something happen?" She asked her frantic friend concerned that she might have been in some sort of danger or hurt. "What do you mean what happened? What happened is that I found myself playing maid of honour to your evil sister, not to mention waking up to seeing my best friend's face pasted on every news channel. Robin what the hell is going on?!" "Wait,
Waking up once again to another day Robin opened her curtains wide and stared out into the city. Gazing up at the clear blue sky her face fell in distraught as the sky had remained the same whilst her life was slowly crumbling. Shifting away from the window she looked at the fully packed luggage bag sitting atop her bed. Everything was packed and ready to go. The only thing that was not prepared was her heart. Sitting on the edge of her bed she sighed, burying her face in her hands. Though she had already signed the contract she was still unsure of her decision. Doubt filled her mind and a sinking feeling settled in the pits of her stomach. Just as she was falling into a tunnel of uncertainty she was brought back by the sudden knock on her door. Whipping her head out of her hands she stood up from her bed and made her way to the door. "Who is it?" She called out with her hand on the handle leaning against the door. "Ms Heymers? My name is Alec I was sent here by Mr Acres." "O
Coming to a halt at the foot of the entrance stairs Alec got out to open the door for her. Once again he offered a hand to help her out this time. As soon as she stepped out her heart fluttered at the beautiful mansion. She knew the man she had signed her soul off to was rich but had no idea he was that wealthy. "Wow" She breathlessly gasped looking up to the stairs that led to the main door. A large black oak door with small intricate designs carved in them. "Ms Heymers? Please follow me" Carrying her luggage up the stairs Alec gestured for her to follow. Felling a bit guilty about giving her things to someone else to carry she offered to help only to be quickly shut down. "It is no issue Miss, they aren't even heavy for me." Giving her a reassuring smile Robing allowed him to go on without her help. Entering the mansion again she found herself stunned at the sight. Just as dark as the outside the interior design was just as black. Geez is this man a CEO or part of the mafia?
Grumbling in protest at the light shining across her face Robin turned away from the window in an attempt to fall back into slumber. Sighing in relief she grasped her sheets delighted at their soft touch. Her brows scrunched in confusion at the silk sheets. She did not own anything as soft as this. Startling awake she sat up in a panic. Looking around at her surroundings she slowly calmed down as memories from the previous day came rushing back. "Ah, right. I forgot about it" Relieved from her shock she lay back on her pillows. Closing her eyes in meditation she heaved a large sigh sinking into the large pillows behind her. A small breeze made its way into the room from the small opening of the window. All tension left her body, shivers ran across her skin at the touch of the cold breeze. Before falling asleep, a knock on the door frightened her out of her daze. Her senses came back and she answered the stranger behind the door with a small yet audible voice. "Um, come in" The do
Climbing a mechanic staircase, Robin winced with each step. After her discharge from the hospital, she was made to take physical therapy since she had been lying in bed for so long. It was a bit odd for her to be relearning how to walk at her age, but she needed to get back to who she was before."Alright, Mrs Acres. That is it for today. You did a great job"Her trainer complimented ending the session. Smiling at him with relief she could not be happier to be finished. "Thank you, Seb. Especially for coming all the way here"Unstraping the belt around her waist she threw it aside before placing her hands on her waist in exhaustion. "That is no problem at all. Besides, who else can brag about being in the infamous house of the Ethan Acres? I'll be telling this story for generations"Laughing at the joke she held a hand up to her lips. While the two were busy laughing they did not notice someone else entering the room. "I see you two are enjoying yourselves"Surprised at the voice t
Walking through the familiar large door Robin looked back at the man helping her up the stairs. His expression was somewhat solemn and dare she assume sad. She had no idea just what went on during the past three months of her hospitalisation for him to have a drastic change. Though he had always shown kindness towards her, these days it seemed that he was being extra cautious and caring. Like the time he peeled her orange for her, or when he was constantly asking if she needed anything during their ride home. They were little things and yet they seemed so sweet. What took the cake was when he brought her a bouquet of her favourite flowers, daisies. Out of all the gifts she had received while at the hospital, his was the best of them all. Recalling the gesture she smiled to herself. As they made their way to the bedroom, Robin turned to the left side where her room was. "Where are you going?"Ethan asked with a scowl. She looked up at him in confusion before answering with the most
Groaning awake her eyes fluttered open. Blinking away the fuzzy cloud over her eyes she tried to bring her hand over to help relieve the strain in her eyes, but something prevented her from doing so. Looking over at her hand she saw a larger, much rougher hand desperately clinging to hers. Looking up to the owner of the hands she froze at the full, head of dark hair sitting atop the bed. Although his face was out of view she easily recognized the man. That familiar warmth his hand brought, the large frame hunched over with slow steep breaths rising and falling at each breath he took. How could she ever forget the man she fell so in love with? She sat that for a while just staring at his hair, a small smile hovering on her lips. She had no idea just how much time had passed but it did not matter to her. She could spend years just watching him sleep and would feel satisfied with that alone.Noticing his shoulders shake awake she remained still, only observing the way his muscles moved.
"Oh, my dear little flower!"In rushed a worried Jen with arms out wide in a hug. Opening her arms to welcome the embrace the two held onto each other. Breaking from the comfort Robin smiled up at her."Madame Pourrie, thank you for coming"A tired yet happy Robin said to the well-dressed woman. She wore a large fur coat with a frilling top and a tight long skirt, topped with a top hat tilted to the side. Robin chuckled to herself at the older woman. who else other than the Madame would dress in such a fancy manner?"Pish, posh child did I not tell you to stop calling me that?"She reprimanded the dark-haired woman, slapping her on the arm forgetting she was an active patient. "Madame! She's a sick patient. You can't just hit her like that!"Laurelyn yelled at the former lady as she rushed into the room before pushing her aside to tend to Robin. Gazing down at the poor young woman in her bed she gave her a look of concern as she rubbed her arm where the Madame hit her."Oh, my apolo
It's dark. I feel cold. My body feels heavy as if it's floating in the dark abyss of the ocean. What is this feeling? This lonely, stuffy feeling. I feel like I'm forgetting something. Or was it someone? Why can't I move my fingers, or wiggle my toes? Why can't I open my lips to speak? Ah, my eyes are heavy, I can't open them. Just... What is this?"I should have listened to you"Who is that? "Robin, please wake up. It's all my fault"Who is this person and why does their voice sound so familiar?"I'm so sorry."What are they sorry for? Do I know this person? "Even if you don't forgive me, I'll do whatever it takes for you to forgive me. Just please wake up"Forgive them? What could they have done that is deserving of my forgiveness? And what did they mean I should wake up? "Please, Robin."Wait, I feel like I know them somehow. The way they call my name, that low tone, that sends shivers done my spine. Wait, I think I know this person. What was their name again? Oh, I think it wa
Blankly looking up at the man before him for what felt like hours, Damien finally snapped out of his daze and without missing a note burst out laughing."Pfft, hahaha! Oh wow, to think it would be you of all people. What an unexpected turn of events"He spoke with a smirk as tears lined the corner of his eyes. To say he was surprised would be a lie, he had a hunch the very person who was retelling him of his offence in such leisure could be none other than the very husband of the woman he had wronged."Well, damn. Although I am a bit surprised at this I can't say I didn't see it coming. I mean, I'd also be jealous if my wife went out to meet her ex in a private setting like a restaurant."He grinned up at the male staring down at him. And that is all Ethan did, stare with a blank face. There was no sign of any emotion written on his face nor could there be any anger felt in the room. If anything he seemed calm and unbothered by Damien's taunting words. A bit too calm. But that did not
The septic smell of pure alcohol and medicine was so potent it could easily make one drowsy. Making his way past the white walls and waiting area with seats filled to the brim of patients waiting for their turn, a tired Alec stopped in front of a sickeningly white door. To his right written in bold black letters was a name tag. Mrs Acres. He sighed dropping his head to the floor before heaving a large breath. Raising his head he braced himself as he lifted a hand to the door. From the inside of the room, the sound of a gentle yet firm knock could be heard. The foreign sound is a contrast to the silent beeps of the monitor."Come in"Upon hearing the command Alec entered the room. Closing the door behind him the man orderly placed his hands in front. The bright yellow file in his hand stood out from the interior white walls. Everything inside seemed so artificial as though it was not even real, everything except the man sitting beside the bed, hunched over a small frame that laid still
Driving down the city streets the bright city lights flashed by like shooting stars. The different lights blurred together at the speed Ethan drove, making it seem like one was in the middle of a rainbow. Behind the wheel, the man knit his brows together in worry. Immediately after hearing about Robin's accident he hurriedly made his way down his car and drove without hesitance. It was as if his body moved on its own as before he knew it he was already behind the wheel and on the road. "Come on, get out of the way!"He growled at the driver ahead of him repeatedly beeping for them to speed up or get out of his way. His head was muddled up with all sorts of thoughts running through his head. His heart was racing faster than a horse on a race track and his mind could hardly keep up. At the hospital, a team of nurses rushed an injured and concussed Robin down to the operating room. Her eyes were bloodied and unfocused she could only make out the outlines of people surrounding her and
With his face to the side, a stinging sensation made its way through his cheek. He looked at Robin who only glared up at him with tears in her eyes before storming out of the room and slamming the door shut. with a hand on his cheek, he flexed his jaw to ease the sting in his cheek. Groaning in irritation he leaned back on his desk. Running a hand through his hair he swept the stray locks back only for them to slowly fall back over his forehead. Sighing he looked back to his tablet. Grabbing it he began going over the files Alec had gotten him about Damien.According to his findings, the man was a convicted felon with multiple charges of assault, robbery, breaking and entering. This guy had so many charges going as far as being caught selling drugs and being involved with some nasty people in the underworld. It seemed that he and Robin use to be in a relationship some years ago but it ended when he disappeared with some of her money. For some reason or another, he was back in the c
