Morning crawled upon me silently.
All night, I was in the theater and only made my way out only at one am.
A young man was brought to the hospital in an ambulance. He was a victim of a drunk driver's reckless driving and he had to go into surgery immediately because he had his gut opened and his blood was staining the floors of the emergency room.
I was scared. Claire informed me that there was no doctor around that could attend to him right away.
"What do you mean? Surely there must be a surgeon on call." I yelled when I came into the room.
"There is none. We believe he has an internal organ ruptured and if we don't wheel him inside right now, we might lose him."
The man was groaning out loud in pain and James, one of the attending doctors was already cutting his clothes in half with a pair of scissors. Somehow, I wondered how his consciousness hadn't
He came for me.There's a gut feeling within me. It is him. It's Leo.Each of the officers by my side looks at me. They have suspicion written all over their face with every distance this biker accelerating towards us covers. With a shrug, I shook my head at their glare, to tell them that I do not know anything about what was happening. They do not believe me. Because they are pinning me against the back seat in the next second and asking, "who is that guy? Where is the fucking paper?"I wasn't going to believe anything Leo ever said to me.But maybe he's right. Even if I don't want to believe him, maybe he's still right. Because I mean, he's a thief and would know better since he must have encountered and escaped a lot of police officers. On this one though, I have to turn around my resolve and believe him. It's true. T
Light seeped through the space in the tent. Slowly, she batted her eyes open and the rays of light caused her to close them back. Deborah rolled over to her size and soon, she was jerking up to the sound of iron against iron. She took her environment in and saw that she was in a foreign place. Like a gazebo, the roof of the room she was in was covered with palm fronds. Like a tent, the room enclosed her and shielded her away from the outside. It was not heaven. There were no beautiful creatures with wings neither was she in a pit of fire. The first fact she established was that she was not dead. That was the only thing she figured out. But she could not take away the distinct sound hitting her ears from outside. Her head felt heavy and light at the same time and she could not picture everything her eyes saw properly. But she was surprised. Memories hit her left right and center. Her hands made their way to her neck as she remembered Leo's firm grip around it. How was she not dead
His expression tightened up. "I told you I'm not looking for the paper.""I'm not thirteen, Leo. You are. You should at least be truthful to me. I've had my life under threat because of you.""That's why I've been coming to your rescue. I didn't mean for any of this to happen.""Oh hell yeah, you didn't," Debby replied, scoffing. "How long have you held me hostage?""You fell unconscious the minute your head touched the water. You've been asleep for two days.""What?" She exclaimed, to which he nodded, confirming what he said earlier. "What the fuck? I've been here for days? Aren't the police looking for me?""They are." He said, putting a bit of fish in his mouth and chewing it gently. Debby's stomach rumbled again. She was slightly reminded of the hunger she felt on the day she has whisked away from the hospital. "They are going to need some more days
"Just something." He raised a shoulder again."My father's paper. That's what you're looking for. If you aren't, then why did you stay around me, watch me, and know the kinds of panties I wear?"Sebastian laughed again. "What? The kinda panties you wear?" He said, laughing. "I never said that.""Yeah, I just figured that since you know everything about me, you might as well know the type of soap and panties I use."The man laughed some more, his voice filling her ears and bringing ease to her heart. It was there again, the stupid feeling of ease, instead of panic."More than the paper, I need something else from you," Sebastian said, his voice taking a serious note."So we agree now that you were true, looking for the paper," Debby said, triumph lacing her tone. "Whose life depends on it?"He turned to her as if surprised that she r
"C'mon, don't be sly. What else could happen if not sleep? Get your mind out of the gutter. I was simply being kind." She replied. As if he knew that she was the one with her mind drenched in sweet filth, he moved his face even closer, smiling.Debby swallowed. Her heart was racing wildly with the expectation of what was to come. They were alone. On a deserted island. The ambiance was just right and they were already both half-naked."We both know that I am not the one with the naughty thoughts." He said, gently rubbing his nose against hers, teasing her. "But I'm not going to fall for your lure. Not right now" He added, before taking his face away. Once he was in the sitting position, he helped her sit on the bed.Debby thought that he was crazy. That was close. So close. He should have simply kissed her. Why leave here aching with need? She on one hand didn't ordinarily have th
One would have thought it was the night breeze from the sea that sipped into the tent in waves but she knew, Debby knew that this chill was from her insides, inspired only by the power of Sebastian's lips against her own porous skin."But we're stuck here in this dense forest. Wait, don't even know what to refer to this place as. Anyways, we're here. I can't help you here. I have to get back home. But that is also tricky. It remains that I'm working with you.""No, you're not. Right now, you're the victim that rouge bad guy Leo has taken hostage. Everyone's trying to find you and rescue you from the danger that I pose.""Okay?" Debby asked, unsure of what he was saying."I'll take you back. In one piece too. Then no one would even suspect you anymore. Instead, you'd be having their sympathy.""Okay?" Debby said again, urging him to go on."You'd forget
It's been two days and I have been staking out, making the central police station my second home.I've had to be in the presence and company of officer Steve. The hunk of a man and his team did and are still doing their best to find her but it just was not enough for me. The past few days have been hell for me. Debby was gone and nowhere to be found. I didn't think that a simple outing would result in something as bad and serious as this. My phone begins to ring and look to see the caller.Jacob. I answer the call, slowly moving the phone to my ears, standing up as well, and taking a few steps away from where I was sitting with two police officers.“Hey, Jakey.“ I said into the phone, trying my best to sound bright and hopeful. "What's up with you today, huh?”“I am not okay. Heard anything new yet? They keep saying they'll find her and we haven't heard anything from the
"It's suspicious though so I've asked that the call line be traced." I listen to him keenly. If the land was an abandoned piece of land, that means that the forests were definitely out of bounds as well."I think he's doing this as some sort of PR. To gain relevance of some sort.” Officer Steve added to the long information he gave me.A guy with an impressive height soon came to us, walking from God knows where because I didn't see him anywhere close since I was here. He reaches where we are standing soon. His face is familiar and I think I must have seen him before but I do not remember until he opens his mouth to speak. Then, recognition came. He's Steve's guy. He was there until the day Debby was first arrested."Captain,“ he called with reverence in his tone. “We cross-checked. We could not find anything. There were no fingerprints left. Everything on that island wa
