IRIS.
HAPPY WITH HER TWIN “Married?” I raised a brow while looking at all of them. “Who came up with this foolish suggestion?” “Isn’t it enough that you had a child for a man we do not know? It is against the family's rules and I don't see why you should have been made the head of the family in the first place…” “Do you want to continue with your position as the family head? Because I would gladly take you, if I have to, to get away from this ridiculousness you all are basking in, father-.” I replied sarcastically, obviously livid. “You need to listen to me, Iris.” He slammed his fist against the table which irritated me more than I already was irritated. “As the family head, you have to sacrifice a lot of things. Whether you like it or not, you have to get married. The advisors would give to you those we have settled the deal with…” Before he could go any further, I stood up and walked out of the room. I heard them calling after me but I've just had enough. “I'll talk to her.” I heard Helen say to them before I stormed out and left for my office. Sitting behind my desk, I buried my face in the stack of papers placed on my table. I knew what he meant by I had to sacrifice for the position I was in. Besides, he had to marry my mother because he was asked to and he had a mistress after her. But I was the only child he was able to conceive so I didn't even have a choice in this entire situation if I wanted to give Lyra a better life. The Green family was just as powerful as any alpha in any of the packs, so they couldn't just be annoyed by anyone. They've built their legacy to be that strong. “Iris…” “Do you also think I should get married?” I asked her. “Well, you never told them you found your mate, they all assume you're mateless, so it's normal for them to want you to get married to one of those big shots in order to further the Green family's influence and affluence.” She shrugged. “But you won't escape their nagging for you to get married any time soon since you haven't found your mate.” Ignoring her, I focused on what I was doing and was lost in work till I heard my phone ring. Looking down at it, the phone number was an unknown one and I just accepted without thinking. “Iris here…” “Iris.” I heard a familiar voice which made a frown appear on my lips. “What do you want, Gavin?” I snarled. “Oh, come on. Listen to me for once will you?” He pleaded. “Logan insisted on bringing Lyra over to play after school, so…” “School? I don't remember them going to the same school since we returned here.” I yelled, standing from my seat. “Logan changed schools and it was coincidentally…” “I'll come get her myself.” I snapped before hanging up. The frustration from my family adding to the the one I was feeling towards him felt like they were colliding. “Helen, who ought to take Lyra from school?” “Jake. Any reason, Iris?” She asked as I dashed past her. “Tell me a reason why she's with Gavin and not back home?” I snapped. “Get rid of that driver before I return home. And yes, that's an order.” Getting into my car without any second thought, I drove out of the mansion. The Green's mansion was situated in a very quiet part of the pack and a restricted area so it wasn't easy to get out almost immediately or easy for anyone to just come in since the Green family kept their lifestyle and affairs a secret from the public. Silver Moon was one of the packs the Green family was able to get maximum security after the Saltburn pack where I had raised Lyra away from Gavin. Now that we had to move back here, what did I expect? My car soon drove to his mansion which was surprisingly in a desolate part of the pack also, surrounded by forests but soon, I got to the huge gates and a guard came over to check me before I drove in. The mansion was huge but also simple and I could tell he owned it because it screamed of his cold personality. As my car stopped in front of the building, I could see him standing outside, casually dressed. As he saw me, he smiled nervously and waved at me. “Hey, Iris.” “I am not in the mood for this, Gavin. Why will you take my daughter home without letting me know about it first. No matter what she wants, I am still her mother and legal guardian.” I snapped. “But I am her father.” He said calmly. I wanted to deny that but it was impossible to deny that. If I did, that meant he also had the right to deny that I was Logan's mother, which I didn't want. “Maybe I shouldn't have accepted to return here.” I said, walking past him to look for Lyra. Getting into the house, it wasn't as lavish as it looked on the outside, but rather plain. “She's in his game room.” He grabbed my hand and I wanted to pull away but it was impossible to do that because his grip was so strong and a part of me felt triggered, more like he made I submit and it felt…good. He guided me with a gentle tug, up the stairs. We stepped into a dimly lit room and I could see Lyra and Logan there. They were playing video games and for the first time in forever, I saw Lyra smile more brightly than when she was with anyone else, even when she was with me. It warmed my heart and I wanted to shed a tear. “They seem to be busy. Would you like to cut their fun short?” He asked me and I went silent. “In that case, I have something to talk to you about asides the fact that you had twin babies and thought it wise to only tell me about one.” My heart sank, there was nothing to deny, he must have done a quick DNA test before I got here, I know what he's capable of. I didn't argue at all nor did I try to drag, I was in a sober mood and I didn't know if it was because I saw Lyra and Logan together or if being around Gavin made me tense, unlike the other day. He led me out of the room and into a balcony with a pool there. “So what do you want to talk about?” I managed to say, raising a brow as I tried to make myself comfortable. “Our children's custody.”*NO POV* HAPPY EVER AFTER The next morning dawned clear and bright, the warmth of sunlight filling the hospital room where Gavin’s mother, Mrs. Russell, lay resting. Gavin, Iris, and the kids entered, greeted by her gentle smile. Lyra and Logan rushed to their grandmother’s side, their laughter filling the room as they shared stories of their bravery, their voices animated and full of life. Mrs. Russell’s laughter was a soft sound, joyful and content as she listened to her grandchildren, her heart brimming with pride and relief. Iris watched the scene with a smile, holding Gavin’s hand as they stood by. It was a moment of family, of love, and of hope, one she’d longed for but hadn’t allowed herself to truly believe could happen. And now, it was here. The threat of Tyler was gone, and they could finally start to heal, to rebuild, and to look forward without the shadow of fear hanging over them. Just as they were leaving the hospital, Iris’s phone buzzed, and she saw her father’s
GAVIN'S POV BATTLE WON Night had come and the moon shone on the war ground. It was cool and dark, and the clearing was quiet before the storm. Iris and I alongside Iris's father, took our wolf forms, our muscles tense, eyes gleaming with fury and determination. Tyler’s rogue wolves surrounded us, an overwhelming number against only three, but that didn’t matter. We were here to end this, and they would do it together. Tyler, towering and ruthless, commanded his wolves forward, sneering with a dark pleasure as the ambush ensued. The fight was brutal, claws tearing into flesh, growls echoing through the trees, and the thick scent of blood filling the air. Each wolf knew their place in this battle, and none were willing to give an inch. Iris fought with the strength of every wrong she’d suffered, every harm Tyler had caused. She had only just discovered that this twisted man was her stepbrother, a revelation that was almost incomprehensible. But the bond of blood didn’t erase his
JERRY'S POV SAVED The dim corridors seemed endless, but Helen and I kept moving, pushing through each door, each obstacle, with only one thought in our minds—finding Lyra and Logan. The scent trail was faint but clear enough for us to follow, mixed with the reek of rogues we’d taken down along the way. My hands were still shaking from adrenaline as we moved swiftly through this maze, hearts pounding. Just then, we caught sight of a room ahead, voices muffled behind the thick door. I motioned for Helen to stay quiet as we moved closer, pressing my ear against the door. I heard a voice, shrill and taunting, and my blood ran cold as it registered. It couldn’t be… Ciara. She was supposed to be dead, lost in the flames at the station. Yet, there she was, alive, and from the sound of it, taking pleasure in tormenting Gavin’s kids. My jaw clenched, a mix of rage and shock roiling inside me. “Jerry… is that…?” Helen’s voice was barely a whisper, her expression as horrified as mine. “Y
GAVIN'S POV The walls of the cell pressed in on me, cold and unyielding, as Jerry and I worked tirelessly to remove the device clamped around our necks. Every time I twisted my fingers around its edges, a fresh surge of anger rushed through me, fueling me to keep trying even though the damn thing wouldn’t budge. I needed to get to Iris and the kids. I couldn’t stand the thought of them in danger, held somewhere in this hellish place by people who’d already done so much damage. Jerry, sweating and grimacing, glanced at me, and I could see the same desperation in his eyes. “We’ve got to get these off if we’re going to get anywhere.” “Tell me something I don’t know,” I muttered, forcing another yank at the device. My mind raced, trying to figure out how I’d get to Iris, how we’d find Logan and Lyra. The thought of Ciara, of her twisted satisfaction if she succeeded in hurting them, made my fists clench until my knuckles ached. Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed down th
IRIS'S POV MY STEPBROTHER IS THE DEVIL The sharp sting of pain sliced through my head as I staggered forward, clutching the back of my skull where a rogue’s first had landed hard. My vision swam, but I forced myself to stay focused. I had to get to Logan and Lyra. I’d seen Ciara pulling them toward a waiting car, but this ambush by her pack of rogues was forcing me into a fight, wasting precious seconds. I planted my feet, fists raised, and fought back. With each punch, kick, and dodge, the fiery need to protect my children fueled my every move. One of the rogues lunged at me, but I ducked and drove my fist into his ribs, hearing him grunt in pain. But there were too many of them. I knew I couldn’t last long. Just as I managed to kick another rogue back, I heard someone calling my name. My blood ran cold as I glanced over my shoulder, spotting my father. He’d followed me, and now he was calling out, looking stunned to see me in this fight. For a heartbeat, I was caught off guard
IRIS'S POV CIARA'S NOT DEAD As I pulled away from the hospital, the fleeting moments of joy faded, replaced by a creeping sense of unease. Just as I rounded the corner toward the ice cream shop, a familiar car pulled into the hospital parking lot. My heart sank as I recognized my father’s imposing figure stepping out of the vehicle. He spotted me immediately, his face set in that stern expression I knew all too well. The last thing I wanted right now was to deal with him, not when I was finally trying to focus on my kids and my own peace of mind. I took a deep breath, willing myself to stay calm as he approached. “Iris!” he called, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. I hesitated, my grip tightening on the steering wheel. I didn’t want to hear what he had to say. I knew it would only lead to discussions about the pack, expectations, and everything I was trying to escape. “Dad, I really don’t have time right now,” I replied, trying to keep my tone steady. “This is impor
