After being happily married for ten years, I was suddenly informed by the hospital that I had two pups.

I couldn't believe my ears when I got the call from the hospital.

The healer's gentle voice came through my phone. "Ms. Whittaker, the health check results for the two pups have come out. The reports have been sent to your phone. Do go and take a look."

I was shell-shocked. I agreed to what the caller said absentmindedly and opened the reports after hanging up.

When I saw "Aaron Renfield" listed as the pups' father, my mind went completely blank.

As I quickly skimmed through the documents, another name caught my attention. The mother of the pups was Jessica Hutton, Aaron's ex-girlfriend.

The contents of the reports dealt a huge blow to me. I read the document several times to confirm that I wasn't mistaken. Upon confirming that my eyes were indeed not playing tricks on me, I headed straight to the Alpha's office.

I had to ask Aaron about this right away.

Aaron's Beta was standing by the office doors. He was startled when he saw me approaching.

He asked in surprise, "Luna Ruth, why are you here at this hour?"

I nodded at him. "I have something to confirm with the Alpha."

Ignoring his attempt to stop me, I pushed past and went straight in.

"Alpha Aaron!" I called out.

Aaron immediately ended the call and turned to look at me.

"Why are you here? Did you miss me?" he asked good-naturedly.

I felt my blood boil when he talked to me tenderly as he always did, like there was nothing wrong.

I let out a cold laugh and questioned, "Whose pups are these? You better explain yourself."

As I spoke, I held up my phone to show him the report.

The moment Aaron saw the hospital report, his face went pale in an instant. He took a deep breath and said, "That was… an accident. You're my only Luna. There will never be anyone else. They're just two pups. Please understand that no matter what, we need heirs to carry on our pack's legacy."

In response, I slapped him. No one had ever humiliated me like this.

I used all my strength in that one slap. Aaron was hit so hard that his head whipped to the side, and his face swelled up immediately.

"You lied to me! Don't you know why I can't have children?" I cried emotionally.

Tears streamed down my agonized face. The pain and resentment that engulfed my whole being made me tremble involuntarily.

Aaron's frigid expression instantly softened as he hurried to comfort me. "It's my fault. But Ruth, I'm the Alpha. Our pack needs heirs. It's just two pups. They won't affect your status as Luna."

I slapped away his hand that was reaching out to me. Furious, I shouted, "If the hospital hadn't called me, how long were you planning to hide this from me? They're already nine years old? Why are they nine years old?"

Aaron's expression fell. With a pained expression, he explained, "Ruth, I'm sorry about this. I just wanted to fulfill Jessica's dream of becoming a mother. When you got injured, the elders of the pack were all pressuring me to reject you. Jessica came to me and said she could help.

"Don't worry. We're fated mates chosen by the Moon Goddess. Only you can be our pack's Luna."

I felt utterly defeated when I heard his words. I shook my head and turned to leave.

"Aaron, I'm so disappointed in you."

He hesitated for a moment but ultimately didn't come after me.

When Aaron first took over as Alpha, he offended several neighboring packs while trying to expand our territory. When they united to attack the Moonlight pack, I took a fatal blow for him.

I was stabbed in my abdomen. During that attack, the wolfsbane on the blade damaged my uterus.

I survived alright, but that incident took away my ability to become a mother.

Back then, the elders of the Moonlight pack criticized me a lot. However, Aaron defended me and firmly refused to reject me.

After some time, the elders suddenly stopped pushing for my rejection. Only now did I realize that it was because the heirs of the pack had come into existence back then.

I was the only one kept in the dark. Every time Aaron cheated on me, he even made sure to block our mind-link. How foolish of me to think that I'd gotten lucky in getting a loyal mate.

When I got home, I packed my bags right away and prepared to return to the Snowfall pack.

Aaron had lied to me. Did he really think the title of Luna would bind me?

There was no point staying with a wolf who deceived me so blatantly!
