Eavesdropping

SUMMER

I woke up feeling like shit. My body didn't hurt, not as much as I thought it would, after the hit I got. I sat up on the bed, looking around the unfamiliar room. It only took a sniff for me to know where I was.

Puzzled, I glanced around once more, trying to identify where my mates went. It was surprising waking up alone in the room. Had this been at home, I would have figured they were out making lunch for me.

It made no sense that they would leave me alone in the hospital, of all places. Knowing who they were, they would have stood around my bed, waiting for me to open my eyes.

Frowning, I got down from the bed, my hand going to my head. The last thing I remembered was the branch falling on me before I blanked out.

There was no bandage around my head like I feared. There was just a plaster on the left side of my face. Touching it, I walked towards the door, desperate to know why my mates left me alone in the room.
