“I pronounce you as the husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride,”
What the fuck did just happen in a moment? I… got married… to someone else?
No, no, no…
My body shivered at the declaration. My eyes went wide from heartache, mouth gaped. A strong rush of pain traveled, turning me incapable of reacting.
“I was dying for this moment, you are finally all mine now, Mrs. Hudson,”
I stood like a statue when he lifted my veil and without a warning pressed his lips upon mine. I didn’t kiss back, it was cold, it was horrible.
I hated the way those lips moved upon mine, satisfying his carving following by a tear of defeat because-
My love lost. My feelings lost. I lost.
After the undesirable kiss, we pulled away. I wiped my lips which Kyle noticed but he was too exhilarated and decided to ignore it.
“Please take care of my daughter,” Mother wept, hugging me while I stood dead inside.
“I know I took a wrong approach but I will try my best to redeem my mistake,”
Kyle grinned, placing his hand over my shoulder to press me against his chest with a heartbreaking question.
“Aren’t you going to meet Denzel? In fact, where is he? He is close to you after all,”
I replied immediately, “I don’t want to see him,”
“Come on, don’t say this. He was there for you always. Bid him goodbye. I am waiting for you,”
He smiled, patting my back to go and see the man who threw me in this abyss in the first place.
At that moment, a flame burned in my chest.
I felt a sting, an unendurable one. A constriction I hadn’t experienced before that evoked nothing but… wrath.
“Hmph, meet him, huh?”
When Kyle told me to meet him, I didn’t want to. I was afraid to see him at the last moment, seeing him would flare my soul.
I couldn’t do it, especially not after becoming another man’s wife.
But, if I won’t, that would evoke suspicion so unwillingly, I went and saw him all alone in the corridor.
Leaning his back against the wall, staring coldly at his hands, enhancing his handsome features. He was immersed in thoughts.
“Denzel,”
Calling him sternly, I gathered my dress and walked up to him as we stopped before each other as strangers.
“Eliana?”
His piercing resonance came. Still no expression on his desirable face… and that brought a tear near my eyes.
Hugging my sides, I lowered my gaze painfully, gritting my teeth to contain my emotions but failed as I hissed.
“Is this what you wanted huh?”
“I did what should be done, you and I were never a match.” He exhaled, pinching the bridge of his nose.
To show that he was becoming tired of explaining the same thing to me. How easy it was for him to neglect me and my feelings.
With my smeared emotions, I came closer, grabbing his shirt. Glaring dead into his eyes with heartbreak spreading widely as I told him the undeniable reality.
“But, my heart is burning with your name, Denzel,”
“You are someone else’s wife now,”
His mouth gaped, placing his hand gradually over mine to stop me from chasing his path but I wouldn’t have if he hadn’t invited me.
After pouring my everything, I gained nothing.
“Exactly. That is why.”
A tear rolled down my cheek as my steps stumbled, leaning against the wall. There was a little distance between us but now, it was serving as a wall.
Sniffling to suppress my crying, I dug my nail on my arm to contain my emotions and not scatter. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath.
“How easy was it for you to make me marry Kyle despite knowing all my feelings are for you?”
“You knew everything, you were well aware of my love and after being done with me, you threw me to Kyle, huh?” I growled, opening my eyes to look at the man who had destroyed my life.
“Look. It’s nothing like this.” He sighed.
“Stop your lies. Just to save your bond with your fucking girlfriend Gizelle, you threw me out of the way, you selfish bastard,” I hissed, pointing my finger at him.
Rolling his eyes, he closed his arms at his chest.
“Think whatever you want,”
How cruel…
Wiping my tears and regaining my posture, I was staring at him with mixed emotions of disbelief and betrayal… while he was unaffected.
‘Then why did those eyes hold compassion for me?’
As we were staring at each other, lost in our own perception, our different chains that ripped us apart, Kyle came, breaking the brief moment.
“Eliana? There you are. Are you guys done?” He smiled.
Causing me to come back to reality and realize that I was wearing the ring of ‘his’ name now.
“Denzel, where were you during the ceremony? I didn’t see you,”
“Congratulations and I was there. You were just too focused on her,” Denzel replied in his dominant tone, giving Kyle a side hug.
“I guess so.” He chuckled before turning to me, “Come, baby, let’s go then,”
Nodding, I was about to go but Denzel stopped Kyle, bewildering me.
“Kyle,”
“Hmm?”
“Take care of Eliana,” He spoke sincerely, inducing an intolerable pain in my chest.
How could he possibly say this after shattering my heart?
“Of course, don’t worry.” He grinned, showing him a thumbs up but now I couldn’t bear it. Holding Kyle’s sleeves, I used a fake charming tone.
“Kyle, can you grab my bag? It's with mother, please? I will be there in a moment,”
“Sure. Be quick, I am waiting,”
“Okay,”
The second he left, I darted in his Denzel, confused when I made him Kyle. My throat felt like burning, my mind was submerged into despondency.
And all of it failed to reach him- it burned me more.
“What is still left to talk about?” Denzel asked coldly.
Lighting up his cigarette before resting his hands in his pockets to forge the strong posture.
“I won’t forget what you have done to me. How you have betrayed my feelings and emotions, Denzel,” I growled, poking his chest with my index finger, not removing my disappointing gaze from his.
“I pray you never get the one you love too,”
Leaving him astonished, with an immense feeling of being disheartened, my steps retreated, shaking my head accompanied by a tear as I gave him the final curse.
“Curse you and your life, Denzel Reynolds,”
‘Look where the desire to have you left me in my life..? I just wanted you, Denzel. And you were the only person who left me,’After eradicating his name from my heart and cruising his life for what he had done to me, I went back. It was crushing me, it was weighing too much on me. I wasn't mentally prepared to become a wife, not Kyle’s. It was never on my list and all of it was heavy for me but I was left with no choice. He had left me and whoever it would be now won’t make a difference.“Sorry, I am back,” I called, coming back to where he was waiting for me in his Rolce Royce, leaning against it while trying to convince my mother.“I promise I will be good- Done? Let’s go now,” Flashing his fake smile, he opened the door for me. I glared at him and turned back to Mother who gave me a pitiful look. What could it do? Nothing. “I want to see my father first,” I demanded seriously, getting in the car while he was setting my dress and grinned.“We are going there anyways,” I rolle
With a heavy pain on my chest, I started my married life where my consent didn’t matter, where my feelings were meaningless. What a pathetic bond…My eyes were cold, hands were empty, nothing to hold onto left anymore anyways. Everything had turned to dust. Submerged in my thoughts, I was hugging my knees on the bed with an empty side as my ‘husband’ came out after taking a shower, taking out his office attire.“Eliana, listen. I have to leave right now, I am sorry,” He spoke apologetically, hastily getting ready but I had zero concerns about that.“Look, I don’t mean to leave you after marriage but I have a really urgent meeting, I will be back soon.”He smiled sweetly, coming closer to kiss the top of my head before pulling away. Forming my lips in a thin line, I nodded. “It’s alright,”I failed to force a smile too…After he left, I dug my nail into my skin, jaw clenching. The sensation of his touch was unwanted. I didn’t want it to replace my mistakes, I wanted them to sting,
DENZEL’S POV:-‘I curse the day I saw you, Eliana. I should have killed you when I had the chance,’ I thought furiously, remembering that jinxed moment.FOUR YEARS AGOBeing the Alpha of the Crimson pack, I knew I had responsibilities and a stack of work over my head since my father died long ago in a fight. And unwillingly I became an Alpha at the age of twenty and for the past six years, I had kept my pack close and together. But, amid my duties and load, I had my partner, my beloved girlfriend Gizelle with me- which I knew was ‘not’ my mate.“You and I both know, Alpha, that woman you consider your lover is not your mate,” And following that news, a gypsy woman decided to pay me her visit, daring to speak nonsense about my pure bond with my beloved.“No matter how many times you mark her, it will be futile,” She smirked, deepening my frown about the comment.“And shall I assume you claim to know where my mate is?”Resting my one leg over the other, I kept my gaze unbothered and t
ELIANA’S POV:-When I was eighteen, we shifted away from the city. From our opulent apartment to a more posh, secluded area because my Father wanted us to live in a mansion. And here we were, shifting into an enormous mansion and me being clumsy, I broke the vase he got from China.“Come on, let’s treat that,” Mama sighed, helping me to stand and not deepen my wound.“God, when will you stop causing troubles, girl? You won't have your pocket money for this month so you know how to be careful next time,” Papa scolded, holding his head in frustration. He was already exhausted because of shifting and I pissed him off more. “Come on, Papa,” I whined but he shot a glare in my direction.“Shut up,”But then ended up sighing, holding his sides, he started searching for someone to treat my wound.“Now where is the first aid box?!”Seeing him this distressed almost made me chuckle. Ah, he was growing old, his patience level was dropping by each passing second.“Let’s take you inside,” Mama sm
DENZEL’S POV:-Standing in the balcony of my room, I could visibly see the struggling girl, trying too hard to win her competition, I assume. How foolishly she was training, not caring the sweat rolling down, breathless, probably exhausted too yet giving her best. “Hmph, pathetic,” Curling my lips in a smirk with my hands behind my back, I continued to stare at my so-called mate, watching her practice.I was stuck in a dilemma of what I should do. She had no idea who or what we were, dragging her into this would be wrong. She had a life ahead of her after all.“So she is your mate?” Breaking the trail of my thoughts, Gizelle came, wrapping her hands around my strong arm with a mischievous smirk.“Yes. An eighteen year old human who probably has no idea about us,” I sighed in disappointment.Shifting my hand to place it on her shoulder and keep her right near my chest. She belonged right here after all as I inclined my head against hers.“Looks innocent,”“Hmm,”“What are you going
ELIANA’S POV:-“Are you satisfied now?!”Throwing my result on my face, Papa was fuming with rage as I failed to get the internship he wanted me to due to my grades. I was not surprised, he had always been strict, no compromises for studies. I was so focused on practicing that I neglected studies and now after failing both.He was fuming while I was looking down with tears shining on my cheeks.“I am sorry, I won’t do it again,” I whimpered, holding my dress anxiously as he was taking out his wrath on me.“For that stupid game of yours, you didn’t study and what happened? You failed! Why don’t you get it?! You cannot defeat Melissa!” He shouted.Startled, I got back, my breaths were momentarily stopped. Tightening my grip on my dress, I was frightened to no extent.“Not in tennis or in studies. Tsk, my faults that I trusted you. You can’t do anything!” He continued, hurting my feelings more than he could imagine. And to worsen the scar on my chest, he pointed his finger furiously at
I didn’t know whether he did it deliberately, out of pity, or something else but he surely evoked a whole new sensation of boost in me to follow my path.He became the first person to encourage me- even if it was indirect.‘...No one around me did it before, not Lenny or my parents. He was the first person who supported me,’It felt good… it revitalized a new surge of confidence. So, to repay him, I poured my best talent into my fingers, well aware of my flairs as I was making the frosting for my cupcakes until Lenny came.“What are you doing?”“I am baking some cupcakes,”Suppressing a chuckle at my display of excitement, she also decided to mock me.“May I know why? Since when did you start taking interest in it? Are you finding alternatives since your father ruined your dream?” She teased me, causing me to frown at her. I was in a good mood compared to how miserable I was for the past few days.Placing my hand over my waist, I held my high, not letting her ruin my confidence. “Y
DENZEL’S POV:-Words of me barely helping her in her nothing and her making just some cupcakes for me spread like I had committed a sin.Though it was nothing deep from my side, I could feel the glare Gizelle was giving in my direction. “So now you have started taking gifts from your mate while I was away?”Sighing, I leaned back to rest my one leg over the other dominantly, I couldn’t care less about this unworthy matter which they were making a big deal out of.“It’s nothing like this, Gizelle. I helped her and she wanted to repay,” I attempted to make her listen but it was understandable. Her jealousy was justified I guess but I didn’t mean it in a romantic way.“From wanting to kill her you shifted right to helping her. Wow.” She continued to mock me, even clapping to piss me off as I rolled my eyes.“Come on, you are overreacting, love,”I chose a wrong statement, earning a gasp from her.“I am overreacting, Denzel!?”“Yes, because like hell I would ever see her from a romantic
