Chapter 75: Emerald's Rejection

“Yes, I will reject James and choose you, Gideon.”

After Gideon heard my answer, he couldn't stop himself from smiling as if this were the best thing he heard from me.

“That's good, Emerald. I just wanted to make sure that James had no chance with you. Come on, let's eat our dinner,” Gideon said, and I smiled.

He went back into his seat, and we began eating the food that he prepared for our date. We just talked after eating until Gideon decided to bring me back to my cabin.

He accompanied me there and never left until I entered the cabin. I was still smiling as I locked the door of my house when someone spoke.

“Where have you been?”

My heart almost jumped off from my rib cage upon hearing that voice. A deep voice coming from James.

I took a deep breath and said, “You don't care.”

I walked away and decided to pass him when James stopped me by grabbing my wrist. I gritted my teeth and took his hand off my wrist.

“Did you think I wouldn't know where you are?” James respond
