“I…I don't know what you were talking about.”

I turned away to leave James after I heard what he said earlier. Just before I could step my legs away, James grabbed my wrist. He pulled me close to him and I had no choice. I had no choice but to face him.

The reaction from his face couldn't be explained now. His eyes were filled with pain. The way he looked at me, he seemed to be pleading with me.

“You can't hide the truth from me, Emerald,” James uttered. “You can't hide the truth about my son.”

My hands turned to fists. I couldn't stop gritting my teeth while glaring at him, my eyes filled with darkness. James didn't know what he was talking about.
