Trista’s POV

“What?” I asked. We hadn’t mentioned Liam since we left. Why was he bringing this up now?

“Seriously. A first class dick. I know you don’t want to talk about him, but I just wanted you to know how I feel. I hate the guy.”

I didn’t respond. What was there to say? I wasn’t exactly too fond of Liam either. Not after what he’d done to me.

“I don’t get it.” He shook his head. “How could any man cheat on a woman like you? I mean, come on. You’re beautiful, and smart.”

I blushed. There was tension in his words, a seriousness. It was making me feel uncomfortable. Then he fixed his eyes on mine.

“If you were my wife, I’d never even LOOK at another woman again.”

My cheeks flamed a deeper shade of red.

I desperately wanted to change the topic. “I really am sorry,” I said. “For all the trouble I’ve caused your parents. Your father seems…upset…by the fight. And I don’t blame him. My chil

Trista’s POV I tossed and turned all night. My dreams were a messed up mix of fragments, bordering on nightmares. But one dream in particular scared me so badly I couldn’t go back to sleep. In the dream, I knelt in the forest while Liam laughed maniacally at the tree line. Rogues crept in from the trees, their eyes glinting in the moonlight. They held knives, ready to stab me. I begged Liam for help but he only kept laughing. Then the rogues all shifted, to tiny little wolf pups. They yipped and ran in circles at my feet. “Eat her!” Liam instructed the wolf pups. They nipped at my ankles. Then Dagny appeared, dressed in a blue robe. “Oh no,” she said, waving her hand dismissively. “Don’t eat her. She’s a WEREWOLF!” Then she glared at me; her eyes were fire red. I bolted upright in bed, breathing heavily. The dream filtered away. I could still hear the little wolf pups, yipping and my feet. Could still hear Liam’s maniacal laugh. Could still see Dagny’s red eyes.

Trista’s POV “Good morning, sleepy head,” Johnson called to me when he saw me. Both the children looked so happy. It warmed my heart. How did I get so lucky? My life was like a fairy tale, a real live dream. The complete opposite of what it had been five years ago when I first came to Milan… Five years ago, I stepped off the plane with one goal in mind – to get hired by JL. I went straight to the head office. I was going to tell them about how I’d been treated back in the United States. I’d been fired for no reason! I would explain it all and then convince them to give me a job. “I’d like to see the CEO,” I told the receptionist when I’d finally found the building. She peered at me from over her glasses. “Do you have an appointment?” She looked annoyed. “Well, no,” I said. “But I can wait. Or I can see someone else. A hiring manager?” “I can’t let you in without an appointment,” she said. Then she went back

My voice echoed through the parkade. The man in the suit turned around, his eyes quizzical. The man with the gun quickly fired a few shots at the man in the suit. But the man in the suit was already alert and he dodged the attack. The man with the gun turned to me. He narrowed his eyes with anger in it. Then he pointed his gun and shot me.My visual impairment didn't allow me to move as swiftly as I would have liked. Even though I had my glasses on, all I could do was watch the bullet fly towards me.Pain ripped through my arm.“Oh my god!” the man in the suit yelled, running towards me. I crumpled to the ground, holding my arm. The man with the gun took off.“Just, just stay calm,” the man in the suit said, taking out his cell phone. “I’m going to get you help.”There was so much kindness in his eyes.Yes, it was Johnson. Before I knew it, he was liftin

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 22: In Shock

Trista’s POV My heart lurched. Billy was thrown from the back of the horse. The trainer lunged under Billy and broke his fall. The horse reared up, kicking its front legs in the air. It neighed loudly. I ran to them. Johnson got there first. He dismounted and then lifted Belle from the horse. Belle wailed. She was terrified. Johnson wrapped his arms around her. Billy was on top of the trainer on the ground. I lifted him off the trainer. “Momma?” Billy asked, his face pale and his eyes wide. “I’m….I’m so sorry,” the trainer stuttered, getting up to his feet. He cradled his left arm. “I don’t know what happened. Something spooked her.” “Is Billy okay?” Johnson asked. The horse continued to kick, its nostrils flaring. “Yes,” I said. I checked him over. He wasn’t hurt, just shocked. The trainer, however, didn’t escape the ordeal so easily. His arm was bent in an unnatural way. “Your arm,” I said to him

Trista’s POV A Lycan? If my face was shocked before, well….“Well, I suppose I better fill you in,” she said, smiling sweetly. “Would you like more tea? It’s a bit of a long story.”I shook my head. My thoughts were reeling. She was…she was a lycan? But..but how?“I come from an old Lycan family,” she started. “We were based in the United States, on the West Coast. It was a very, very powerful family, too powerful, actually. We had a lot of enemies, other werewolves that wanted to kill us to stop our power. So, my parents, Johnson’s grandparents, came to Europe to go into hiding. They figured it was the safest thing to do.”I nodded. I had heard about lycans going into hiding. Lycan always had a lot of enemies; werewolves are jealous of their power so they hunt them down. Dagny continued. They first settled in Paris, but it was too big and busy. They longed for the peace and quiet they’d had for so long. So they moved out this way, to the South of France. I lived a ver

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 24: You Should Go Home

Trista’s POV Suddenly, my mind flashed back to the day I met Johnson. The parking garage. The man, with the gun.“You said people were hunting Johnson’s father,” I said. “I think…maybe someone was hunting Johnson, too.” I told her about the day in the garage. Her face turned serious, and a darkness washed over her features. “Do you think…maybe…There might be the connection between these people?”She pressed her lips together. “Because it probably is,” I continued. “Who are these people? What did they want with Steward?” She looked down at her hands. “Were they…were they trying to kill him?” I asked. Then she looked up at me, with a fake smile on her face. “Thank you for the information, Trista,” she said. “I will speak to Steward about it. I’m sure it was nothing. He’ll sort it out.”I snapped my mouth shut. She clearly didn’t want to talk about it. I was offending her -prying into her personal life. Her normal expression returned. “No need for apologies,” she said. We

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 25: The Offer

Trista’s POV Go home? How could I possibly do that? Did she mean back to my pack? Back to Summerset? I was rejected. Exiled. I didn’t have a home there anymore. I carried Billy back to my bedroom, Dagny’s words swarming through my mind. The herbs had made Billy sleepy, and he was dead weight. He was heavy in my arms and I realized that he wasn’t my tiny little baby anymore. He was a young boy now. I laid him down on my bed. He stirred, then curled up into a ball. He looked so much like Liam. The same eyes, the same hair, the same build. Looking at him there, on the bed, he didn’t look like an average five-year-old boy. He looked older. Stronger. More robust. “It must be the Alpha blood in him,” I sighed to myself. My mind turned to Johnson. He had been so calm and collected during the accident. He knew just what to do but the concern on his face – well – that had been the concerned look of a parent. “Johnson

Trista’s POV Liam? Ugh. He was the last person I wanted to talk about. “He made us, well you, a pretty good offer, Trista.” I didn’t want a damned thing from Liam, let alone some sort of business offer. But I trusted Johnson so I listened. “Liam’s been in touch with Stevia Sinclair.” My eyes lit up. Stevia Sinclair? She was the hottest movie star right now. She was a massive influencer with a multi-million social media following. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, knew who she was. Johnson chuckled at my expression. “Looks like Liam managed to secure a deal with Miss Sinclair. She’s agreed to endorse your latest jewelry line. With a few conditions, of course.” I couldn’t respond. How? What? Was this really happening? “It gets better,” Johnson said. “Liam has offered to fund the creation of an independent brand, in YOUR name.” It was a dream come true! My own brand? Endorsed by the most famous movie star on the p

Trista’s POVWe walked back into the house. I was really glad I’d had that talk with Liam, but now that all those things were out of the way, my mind went back to the problems at hand. The children were in the living room, crawling all over poor Jules.“Let’s play pony, Uncle Jules,” Belle exclaimed, clapping her hands.“Yes! I want to ride Uncle Jules!” Billy laughed.I was anxious, but I tried not to let Jules or the children see.“Oh, all right,” Jules sighed, rolling his eyes playfully. Then he got off the couch and went down on his hands and knees. “Pony Jules at your service,” he said. Then he lowered his front half down to the floor and Belle climbed on. He paraded around the room with Belle on his back. She cheered and laughed with delight. It warmed my heart, seeing the children having so much fun. And honestly, it looked like Jules was having a great time as well, which made me happy since the poor man had been through a lot in the past few hours.“Perhaps he missed his call

I hope he can read my mind.In fact, I also need his support.I know that the current situation may not be optimistic, and I can't just leave them alone and pretend nothing is happening; On the other hand, I can't put the children in danger if I’m helping Johnson and his family. If there is someone else here I can trust and who will protect my children at any cost, then that person must be Liam, their real father.“Liam, not just Johnson, but the whole family are wonderful and decent people. They helped not only me, but you too! Liam is the one who saved you by throwing you out of the VIP room window and told me to leave. And Johnson is the reason we were able to escape and come back here, to the United States. He distracted the black-clad men. If he hadn’t done that, who knows what would have happened? And Dagny, she healed your wounds. I know you feel she is unfriendly. But if you knew their family history you would not say that. They are Lycans. For many years they have been hunted

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 198: The Other Point of View

Trista’s POVThe early evening air was cool and fresh. I inhaled the scent of the forest just beyond my back yard. I’d missed the smell of the forest. My mind flashed back to the night Johnson and I had sat out here, after Hazel’s wedding and sipped on ice cold beer. I’d been so comfortable that night with him. We’d gazed up at the star-speckled sky and let the night roll by. By the time I’d woken up the next morning, he was gone. It was the last time I’d seen him, the REAL Johnson, not the man in the VIP room at the High Seine auction. That had been months ago, before our cruise and our shopping trip through Europe. Before I entered the competition in Milan. Before Liam was shot and we raced to the Milan border to track down Johnson’s parents in France.Had it really been that long ago? So much had happened since then, it was hard to fathom. And even though it felt like a lifetime had passed since that night, every time I thought about Johnson, sitting there, beside me with a beer in

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 197: He Asked Me to Leave

Trista’s POV“What do you mean?” I asked. Liam eyed me, his expression serious.“I mean,” he said, “Jules is a werewolf. I can accept him into Blue Moon Crescent Pack. He’ll have the pack’s protection.”I paused, stunned by Liam’s idea. I hadn’t even thought of that, but Liam was right. Since Jules was a werewolf, Liam could formally accept him into the pack. He’d be safe there with the entire pack behind him. He’d be protected. It was actually a really good idea.It wasn’t that easy though. “What about his life?” I asked. “Jules has been living as a human. He’d have to give all that up. He’d have to leave the city and learn the ways of the pack.” Shifting from life in human society to life in a pack would be jarring for Jules, to say the least. It wouldn’t be an easy transition.“He’d get used to it, with time,” Liam said. “He was never given the option of living with a pack. That choice was taken from him when his parents withheld the truth. Maybe this is the best thing for him? Be

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 196: Protection

Trista’s POVBilly and Belle laughed with delight as Jules entered their bedroom. My mind spun with everything Jules had just told us. I felt sorry for him. He’d been struggling with the fact that he was different his entire life, without knowing why. That must have been so hard for him. I still found it strange that Jules had no wolf scent, though. I wondered why. It was highly uncommon for a werewolf not to emit the wolf scent. It was how we recognized our own kind. Was his wolf weak? Disabled? It didn’t make sense. But I didn’t have time to dwell on things like that.We had more pressing matters to think about.“Mercury and Storm are the key to this whole thing,” I told Liam. “They have the key to the vault. Or at least, they know where it is. I’d been hoping that Jules knew about the key, or at least knew more about his parents and their role in all this. But that was a dead end.”It was crystal clear that Jules had given us all the information he could.“That’s an understatement,

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 195: Where Are Your Parents?

Trista’s POV “They never told you,” Liam said. “Your parents? That they’re werewolves?” Jules shook his head.I was stunned but I guess that made sense. If they hadn’t told Jules that he was a werewolf, why would they tell him that they were, too.“They just raised you in the human world?” I asked.“Yes,” Jules shrugged, but I could see the shock in his eyes. He was trying to process all of this, but it was a bit too much for him. “They never said anything like that…about being…wolves. So when I started hearing the wolf voice in my head, I thought I was crazy. I never told them that I thought something was wrong with me. I didn’t want them to worry. But now…you’re telling me…Are you sure?” “Yes, Jules, we’re sure,” I told him. He lowered his head and fiddled with the cuff of his sleeves. “Oh,” was all he said. This was unbelievable. Mercury and Storm had kept their identity hidden from Jules for his entire life? As well as his o

  • My Alpha Ex-Husband Regrets   Chapter 194: Jules’ Confession

Trista’s POV“What?” Liam exclaimed, bolting upright in his chair. I was equally as baffled. What did Jules mean he didn’t know he was a werewolf?Jules shrunk back into the corner of the room. “Please don’t be mad at me,” he said.“I don’t understand,” I said. “How could you not know?”As werewolves, our wolves were a part of us. They are with us since birth. Of course, it’s not until we’re older that they really surface. Billy and Belle, for example, didn’t know their wolves yet. But there would come a day when their wolves would make themselves known. And when they did, there was no denying the wolf. How could Jules not know he had a wolf?“I mean, I guess I knew,” Jules said, his voice small. “Sort of. I…it’s confusing.”Jules was almost hyperventilating at this point, so I tried to calm him down.“Just take a deep breath,” I said. “No one’s mad at you. Come. Sit on the couch here.”Jules nodded and sniffled, then he followed me to the couch like a little boy. Luckily, Billy and B

Trista’s POV“Jules!” Liam demanded, waiting for an explanation. But when I turned to look at Jules, I saw his lips quivering. He had tears brimming in his eyes.He looked like a little school boy who was afraid of being punished.“You owe me an explanation,” Liam said. “I…I…” Jules stuttered, taking a few steps back from Liam. His face was pale and he looked terrified. Billy and Belle were watching with wide eyes. I walked up to Liam and patted him gently on the arm.“Liam,” I said, “stop it. Can’t you see you’re scaring him?”Liam inhaled a sharp breath. His eyes flitted from Jules, who was shrinking into the corner, and me.“You’re right,” Liam finally said, calming down. “But we need to get to the bottom of this.”“The…the bottom of…of what?” Jules said, clearly flustered.Jules was always so talkative, so it was a bit jarring to see him so flustered and tongue-tied.“Are you going to fire me?” Jules asked, his voice small. “For hiding my identity?”Liam shook his h

Trista’s POVI opened the front door to my cozy little home, happy to be back. I felt like it had been a lifetime since I’d seen my house. And I couldn’t wait to see my sweet babes again.Billy and Belle saw me from the kitchen and squealed with delight. They ran towards me and I embraced them, inhaling their scent. Tears brimmed in my eyes – I’d missed them both so much.“Momma, where have you been?” Belle asked. I noticed that she had chocolate smeared on the corner of her mouth. I glanced over at the kitchen table and saw that is was covered in junk food! French fries, chips, pop, chocolate, assorted candies were strewn all over the table. I rarely let Billy and Belle eat this much junk food. I was appalled.“Jules,” I chastised, surveying the food. Jules was sitting at the table happily stuffing his mouth full of take-out French fries.Jules looked at me and shrugged sheepishly. “Welcome back,” he said.“Is this what you’ve been feeding the kids?” I asked, walking into the living
