Avery's POV

It had really been an eventful week I thought to myself, I was grateful the rest of the week had passed uneventfully. I was sure I had my fair share of dramas.

The universe must be playing a dirty joke on me, I thought to myself. I couldn’t stop thinking about my clash with Danielle. She claimed I ruined her life when in truth, she ruined mine.

I couldn't bring myself to blame her completely, cause I knew the majority of the blame belonged to Jeffrey. Her anger should be directed at him, not me. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

I had to go shopping, I had to stop at the store to get some toys for the twins. I brought out a pair of jeans and a polo shirt to put on. I loved days like this when I had to put on simple and comfortable clothing just like before.

I was just about to head out of the house when Daniel ran toward me crying at the top of his lungs.

“Oh honey, what’s the matter," I asked, stooping low to his level to look at his face, all red and blotchy

I turned my attention back to Lora, as I tried to completely ignore Danielle even though I knew she was staring at me contemptuously.“So what had been going on with you,” I asked Lora, as I tried to ignore the fact that Danielle was still staring daggers at me.“I met a guy in school and we are so in love,” Lora said, as a blush crept up her face.“Really? I’m so happy for you Lora, you deserve the best” I said smiling at her.“Tell me more, where is he from and what does he do?” I asked excitedly.“He just finished med school and he’s doing his residency at the state hospital. He's a really great guy, and I want to spend the rest of my life with him,” she said dreamily, a very satisfied smile on her face.I smiled as well, I knew what it felt like to be completely loved by someone, I have experienced it or so I thought. Avery's POVIt was a bright Monday morning, as I got to the company, I stood for a few minutes admiring the magnificent Jason's company before going up to my office. The Jason company stood in all its glory, a seven-story building with about twenty-nine offices. The company was my grandfather’s pride, his father before him had started the company before handing it over to him. It would have been handed over to my father if he hadn't died early. Now the burden of continuing the legacy of this great company was resting on my shoulders, I couldn’t let my grandfather down.I got to my office where a folder was waiting for my signature. I had recently passed a proposal for an expansion of our New York office. Unfortunately, some of the workers we had hired over the last month had either resigned or stopped coming to the office. I couldn’t help but wonder what the issue was, a lot of money had been put into this expansion project and I couldn’t let it fail. The office phone rings. I p

Avery's POVI didn’t know what to make of the discovery, I had just made about Uncle Mark. I was still shaken to my bones.I didn’t understand how someone would want to sabotage something that belonged to them, simply because they didn't like the person appointed CEO, even when that person was the only surviving family member of their only brother. I felt really disappointed in him and had to find the best way to handle the situation. I couldn’t tell my grandfather that his only surviving son had tried sabotaging his company. Over what? I asked myself, a hatred he had for me. It would break my grandfather's heart and I couldn't risk exposing him to such news, afraid of the impact it might cause to his already frail health.I couldn’t also fire him or do anything to him on my own, without feeling like the most evil person on the planet. I tried to think rationally, because I felt before my discovery Grandpa might have had no other choice but to hand the company over to Uncle Mark, e

Avery's POVI stared at Tobias as if he had magically become an Alien, at that moment he looked really weird. I struggled to process what was happening, I looked around me to see various staff and other people staring at us, their faces flashing brightly in anticipation. “Avery...” Tobias called, I turned to face him again, as I saw the worry on his face.Tobias had always been here for me so there shouldn't be any need to think about his proposal, I thought to myself but I couldn’t move. I just stood there frozen to the ground, it felt like someone had poured cement over my feet, planting me on the ground.“Avery, will you marry me?” Tobias repeated as I noticed beads of sweat forming on his forehead, he was going into full panic mode. He didn’t deserve to be made a spectacle of, in the presence of this many people. So I did the only logical thing that crossed my mind.“Yes, I’ll marry you, Toby," I said as I brought out my hand so he could slide the ring over my finger. Which for s

Avery s POVI sighed in relief as I finally succeeded in putting the kids to sleep, they had been so cranky the entire trip. It was their first time going on a road trip and I understood their discomfort. I covered them with a duvet and switched off the lights. We had decided to go on a road trip instead of going through the air, we had felt it would be a better experience, but we were so wrong. David had experienced motion sickness throughout the entire trip, he kept puking that I was so worried he would vomit his intestines. Daniel on the other hand kept shifting and turning in his car seat, we had to stop several times because he wanted to ease himself. I was so happy when the trip was over and we pulled up to the hotel. I walked into the adjoining room of the two-bed suite we had booked earlier but Tobias was not there, I wondered where he might have gone. He might have gone out to the veranda I thought, though I was too tired to go check, changing into light sleepwear, I got un

Seeing them together brings back memories I never wish to remember. I took a few steps closer to them yanking my babies away from him.I hunkered down to their height, staring at my little pumpkin grey eyes which looked exactly like his. Oh no!
