"I've already eaten."

The moment Damon reached home, Edna quickly served him the pumpkin soup that was simmered in a casserole. She even told him specifically that it was Celeste who insisted Edna prepare this for him.

His troubled mind was then eased.

"You even told Edna to make supper for me. What a considerate wife." Seeing her wake up, Damon rubbed the nape of her neck. He turned her around to face him.

"How's Mr. Sullivan?" Celeste was embarrassed to hear him praise her. So she changed the topic.

Damon then told her about John's medical condition.

Celeste became quiet for a long while after hearing that. She suddenly said, "You should stay by his side more frequently then. And … you should ask Leah if there's anything she needs."

Celeste lost her mother at the age of 21, so she understood how much pain Leah could be in.

"Why are you suddenly being so understanding?" Damon lifted Celeste's chin to look into her eyes.

"Would you not see her if I told you not to?"
