“It’s all your fault!” Lucile was screaming while they were waiting outside the operating room.
“You didn’t listen to me when I told you to have someone watch out for Victoria's movement. If you only believed me when I said that Victoria's sudden change of mind was suspicious, my daughter should not be in there!” Lucille yelled while hitting Victor’s chest.
Victor could do nothing but let her hit him. He was in anguish seeing Lucille’s despair and at the thought that Kirsten was lying on the operating table at the moment.
Suddenly a doctor burst out of the other operating room. In haste he said, “We have to prepare for a possible blood transfusion, but the hospital ran out of blood.”
He was confused seeing that there was no other hospital bed beside the one he occupied.“You’re awake.” Matthew heard his sister's voice. He coughed and Donna gave him a glass of water. “Here, drink it.”“She moved to another room,” Donna said when she observed that he was looking for someone. “She didn’t want to aggravate your condition.”Matthew couldn’t help but snort and this annoyed Donna.“I hope you won’t regret how you treated her.” Exasperation laced her voice as she spoke. “You love each other so much.”
Lucille was halfway down the stairs when she saw Kirsten carrying Mark in his arms with a few suitcases with them. Worried, she asked, “What happened?”Kirsten looked up and smiled bitterly. “Can Mark and I stay here for a while mom?”“Of course darling, you are always welcome here.” Lucille said and hugged her while Victor took Mark.Standing up, Lucille went to instruct the maids to get Kirsten's room ready.Incensed, Victor asked, “Did he drive you out?”“No,” Kirsten replied, shaking her head. “I voluntarily moved out.”
Sensing that there were eyes looking at them, the man above Vanessa looked at the doorway. He stopped and covered Vanessa with the duvet, Vanessa was shocked to see Matthew standing there.“What are you doing here?” Vanessa remembered that she didn’t even bother to change the passcode all those years. She mentally took note of it. She has to change the passcode.Bewildered, Matthew turned around, wondering that he didn’t explode in anger. He should be furious that he saw Vanessa cheating on him.Vanessa and the man emerged in the living room, already dressed.“What happened? Did you fight with Kirsten again?” Vanessa spoke and Matthew caught sight of her bulging
“I only wanted you to help me. Do you have to say all those things?” Matthew sneered.“I’m sorry, Matthew. My wife and I are expecting. Ashley has a very sensitive pregnancy and I can’t leave her. One more thing, I have just started a law firm here. It requires my presence.”Three days later, Kirsten put away the document she was reading and picked her phone when she heard a notification of a received message from Darren.[Mrs Roosevelt, can we meet at The Grand Hotel Restaurant at three in the afternoon regarding the lawsuit against Legacy Holdings?]Kirsten typed on her phone with a short reply. [Sure.]
Matthew cupped her face, brushing his thumbs to dry her face.“Now, now, don’t be sad. I will do my best to be a good husband, okay?”Kirsten nodded.“Where will I drop you?” Kirsten asked Matthew when they were in the car.“I’m going back to my office, there are a few things that I have to finish.” Matthew replied and unconsciously held Kirsten's hand.Kirsten looking down at their interlocked fingers, Matthew realized he held her hand without thinking. “Is this how I am to you?”“Mm,” Kirsten replied. Matthew looked intently at her, Kirsten looked away as
Matthew stared at them not longer than two minutes and lifted his foot, walking towards them. An incoming call caused him to pause. Immediately, he answered the call.“Sir, they have arrived,” Steven’s voice came from the other end of the line.“I’m coming.” Matthew gave another look at Kirsten. At that moment Kirsten lifted her head and saw Matthew looking at her. Before she could react, Matthew already turned around and left. Kirsten got worried that he would get jealous but was both relieved and sad, remembering that he had amnesia. While walking towards his office, Matthew was mulling. “Is that the reason she didn’t want to stay with me? But
Amused, Kirsten asked with a grin, “Do you really want to know?”She got curious on how he would react upon hearing the things he had done.“I don’t want to repeat my mistake,” Matthew replied seriously.“Because you were so good to me, I fell in love with you despite knowing that we would get divorce after a year. After you came back from Hawaii for a two week business trip, you confessed your love for me. And the divorce didn’t happen even after our contract was over.” Kirste paused for a while before resuming.“However, my mom who had no idea that I was her daughter told me that you didn’t love me because I was just a pawn to prot
In the middle of the party, Kirsten looked for her parents. She was worried as they were nowhere to be found in the garden. Stepping inside the mansion, she saw her parents' back. Lucille was stroking Victor’s back gently as they were in a serious talk. Eaten up by worry, Kirsten hastened her pace. When she was close by, she asked. “Is dad not feeling well?” Simultaneously, in surprise, Victor and Lucille pivoted and looked at their daughter. “Your best friend, how did you meet her?” Victor asked, tinged with excitement. “She was my schoolmate when I was in primary school, I’m one year ahead of her. Why?” “Do you know her background?” “She came from a poor family, just like me, she too had to work multiple part time jobs to finish studies, but her case was more difficult because both her parents were sickly so she stopped her studies and worked full time so they would be in better health. But her sacrifice was wasted as both her parents died in an accident.” “Did she mention if
