Chapter 42 - Ego as Big as The Earth

Kirsten’s lips twitched. She wanted to ask what his son and daughter - in law were doing, but held her peace.

“You're unwilling, aren't you?” Norman said, sneering.

Kirsten smiled and said, “I will handle the discharge procedure, grandpa.”

Norman was sleeping when Don arrived in the hospital.

“Thank you, madam. No one could stand the temper of the old sir except you.” Don said quietly.

Kirsten responded with a giggle. “The doctor gave a go signal that it’s alright to take him home. Anyway, I have to go.”

In the corridor, Kirsten was surprised to meet James. Her heart constricted looking at the man who shed a few pounds, looking thinner. But the man still looked handsome and could turn heads.

“James?” Looking into her best friend’s eyes, Kirsten could see grief surrounding him.

“What happened?” She held his hand and took him to the nearby bench.

“Dad, dad… he’s dead.” Though he shed no tears, his sorrow bled in his voice.
