Recalling past events filled Joshua with remorse. In a somewhat hoarse voice, he slowly uttered, "I am sorry."

Cynthia and Yoel both shared an expression of synchronized confusion.

Mustering his courage, Yoel questioned, "Mr. Neal... what was that?"

Ms. Yates was discussing serious matters, was she not?

"Could you hold your tongue?" Joshua retorted, finding Yoel lately a bit overbearing.

Yoel promptly zipped his mouth, kept a smile, and refrained from speaking further. Meanwhile, Cynthia was awaiting Joshua's response.

"I was investigating something from the past, which led me to the incident today. So, I came up," Joshua fabricated, trying to sound convincing.

Cynthia continued to gaze at him.

"You do not believe me?" Joshua queried.

"I don't," she declared succinctly, causing discomfort in Joshua.

However, his thoughts drifted toward his reaction upon being disbelieved and how Cynthia must have felt when he treated her the same way before. No wonder she detested
