“Natasha, are you back?” Olivia asked from the kitchen when she heard the front door open and close.
“Yes, I am back.” Natasha resolved wearily.Olivia dropped the stainless pan in her hand and hurried to the living room to hear what Natasha came back with from the company.“So how was the meeting?” She asked fearfully, when she saw Natasha's sad face as she slammed into the sofa.“He said he wouldn’t press charges…”“Really? That is amazing! That’s good news! We’d talk to your father about it. He’d get you the money, and everything will be fine.” Olivia cut her short happily.“Not only that, mother! There’s a condition.”“Condition? Oh God… what condition?”“He wants us to get married.” She mumbled.“What?! Married? What does marriage have to do with all these? He is crazy?”Olivia sat next to Natasha on the sofa, Natasha moved closer to her and rested her head on Olivia’s shoulder.“That’s what he wants, Mom.”“You aren’t granting him his crazy wishes, okay? You got divorced just a month ago, and he expects you to get married now? Who does that?…”“Mom, you don’t understand.”“What’s so hard to understand? It’s simple, you’ve apologized, we’d look for the money for you, and then both of you go separate ways.”“He doesn’t want the money! I have made some errors before this one, he has every right to press charges. I have lost my job, and if he does sue me, I would never have the opportunity to work as an accountant in any company.”“Your father has connections too.”“I know, but his connections are nothing compared to Eddy Gracias’ connections.”Olivia sighed and rested her back. “So you’re just going to get married, just like that? To a man you don’t know?”“Honestly, I don’t know, Mom. I’ve been thinking about it all through my ride back home. All I know is I can’t let him press charges.”“This is outrageous! Why does he want to get married to you anyways? Are you the only beautiful woman he has met his whole life?!” Olivia spat angrily.“He went through my documents and said I’m the perfect person. Maybe because…”“Because what?”“I don’t know, Mom. Honestly, I don’t know what seems to interest him about him. I mean, I can’t bear children…”“Hey… don’t start, okay?”“But it’s the truth.”“Don’t! Let me ask you this. When he told you he wanted you to marry him, what did you say to him?”“He didn’t even give me a chance to say yes or no. He said he’d give me three days to think about it, and if he doesn’t get a positive response, he’d press charges.”“Oh God, that man is such an asshole. What are you going to do now?”Natasha exhaled loudly through her mouth and shook her head. “I have no idea, Mom. Right now, I have a migraine and I need to rest.”She slowly stood up and reached for her bag.“Are you sure you don’t want your father to deal with this for you?” Olivia further asked.“He wouldn’t win, and it would cause more trouble, okay? And where is Emma?”“She’s at Tyler’s, the neighbor's son. They are playing together.”“Argh… she should be resting.”“Why?”“Never mind, Mom. I need to clear my head, and don’t let Emma stay out for too long.”***“Hi, Mom. Are you at home?” Eddy asked his mother on the phone.“Yes. What is it this time?”“Can you stop acting so cold to me?”“No, I can’t. Until you do what you’re supposed to do, Eddy. Your father is on the sick bed, and you can’t even grant him one wish. Just one…”“Mom, can you let me talk first?”“Oh please…”“I’ve found a wife, okay? I’d be at the house in an hour.”“Wait… Eddy, are you joking right now?”“I’m not joking, Mom. Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”“Yes! Yes! This is what I’ve always wanted! I can’t wait to see you, My son! Let me prepare your favorite before you arrive. Bye!”She hung up almost immediately, Eddy sighed and threw his phone in his pocket. He walked out of the office and met the manager and Jeremy having a chat in front of the office.“I’m so scared for Natasha. Only heaven knows what he said to her. She wouldn’t even talk to me.” Jeremy muttered sadly.“I’m as curious as you are. I tried guessing what must have happened in there through her facial expressions, but I got nothing.” Mr. Manager responded. Before Jeremy could respond, he saw Eddy open the door. His eyes widened, and he gulped hard.“I'll get back to work now, Mr. Manager.” He uttered and hurriedly walked away.“Who is he to her?” Eddy asked coldly, and Mr. Manager looked at him.“Ermm. They are friends, and I believe they are pretty close.” He answered.Eddy looked at Jeremy again from where he stood and exhaled.“Take care of whatever you need to take care of with the new accountant. Leave Natasha to me.”“Yes sir.”Eddy nodded and began to walk away. He got to where the elevator was and looked at Jeremy again. He also caught him staring back at him.“I hope he isn’t some boyfriend of hers. Why did he stand so close to her earlier?” He thought as he headed into the elevator.~After an hour~Eddy drove into his parents mansion and parked his car next to his mom’s. He headed to the door and walked into the house.“Mom! I’m here.”“Hey, son! I’m in your father’s room!” She replied in a loud voice from the floor on top of him.Eddy rushed up the stairs and got to his Dad’s room in no time. He saw his father sitting on the bed, his back supported with a pillow.“Welcome!” Mrs Gracias stood up from the bed, approached him and gave him a hug.“Hi, mother.”She broke the hug and he headed to where his father sat. “Hi, Dad. How are you feeling now?”“Much better, son. Don’t I deserve a hug too?” He asked in a crooked voice, as he slowly spread his hands wide open.Eddy smiled faintly and wrapped his arms carefully around him.“I’m happy to see you’re feeling better now.”“Why won’t I? You are remarrying! This is great news.”“So tell me, when are we going to meet this woman that stole this stony heart of yours?” Mrs Gracias butted in.“Why are you in a hurry, mom? Do you think I’m just cooking up a lie?”“That’s not it, okay? But we are really eager to meet her. Right, baby?” She asked, looking at Mr Gracias.“Your mother is correct, Eddy. It’s better to be fast with this before you change your mind.”“I won’t change my mind, okay? But if you two are so eager. Then, you’d be meeting her very soon.”“I trust she’s beautiful, right?” Mrs Gracias further asked out of excitement.‘Well, she is f**king beautiful.’ He thought.“Does that really matter? You’d meet her soon, okay?”“Hmmm. Okay.” His parents nodded.“I can’t wait for you to have a family again. Thank God you have put that incident behind you. I can’t believe I still have the chance of carrying your child!” Mrs Gracias added. She closed her eyes and smiled widely.Eddy gulped and stood up from the bed. “When was the last time you heard from my brother?” He tried to change the subject.Mrs Gracias sighed and rolled her eyes.“You know how your brother can be. Noah hasn’t called home for over two weeks now. That his boyfriend is causing more trouble than good.”Eddy chuckled and shook his head. “We can never satisfy you, can we?”“What do you mean?” She pouted, feeling offended.“When he was at home, you said you wanted to get rid of him because of his naughty and irresponsible behavior. Now he’s gone and you have peace, you want him back?”“Well… I don’t know, okay? He shouldn’t totally ignore his family because of a man! I hope they don’t break his heart like the others always do. I don’t want him crying back to me. It’s always tiring.”“Noah is an adult, Mom. Let him do as he pleases.”“If he was with a girl, maybe…” Mr Gracias uttered, but was cut short by his wife.“Oh please, don’t start, honey! You said you’d accept him for who he is, as long as he’s happy. You don’t have to imagine him being straight. When the right person comes, he'll be just fine.”Mr Gracias shrugged and exhaled. “Fine. If you say so.”Eddy’s phone suddenly vibrated in his pockets. He pulled it out and checked what message it could be. He was pretty surprised to see it was a message from Natasha Jones.‘How did she get… Oh! I gave it to her.’ He recalled. He opened the message and read;“Hi, Mr. Eddy. Please, I’d love to ask for more time to think about what you said to me today. This is a very difficult decision for me, and I’d be so grateful if you could change your mind and let me pay with something else. Thank you. Natasha Jones.”Eddy clenched his jaw after he finished reading. ‘This woman thinks I’m joking about this. Change my mind?’“Hey, Eddy, are you alright? You are beginning to frown.” Mrs Gracias uttered with worry all over her face.“I’m fine, Mom.” He answered and began to text back.“I told you I won’t take a No for an answer, so why are you thinking about it so much? I’d meet your parents in three days. Prepare yourself, and don’t you dare do something stupid.”After sending the text, he looked up at his parents and saw them staring at him.“Guess what? We’d be meeting with my fiancée's parents in three days.” He uttered with a grin.“So Eddy Gracias would be coming here today? Have you even thought about this?” Olivia asked as she sat in Natasha’s room. “What can I do, Mom? I can’t go to jail. If he wants to get married to me, Fine. I am no weak woman. He shouldn’t expect me to act like a housewife or something. I am not ready to fall in love. And I bet he is also doing this for a reason apart from love.” “I told your father about it, and he decided to stay home today.” “Really?” She hurriedly sat up. “Doesn’t he have work today?” “He does, but he wants to meet him too. He’s been so busy lately that I had to tell him myself. Most times when he comes back from work, you’re always fast asleep.” Natasha sighed and brushed her rough hair backwards. “Please don’t tell me he wants to talk to Eddy about this. I don’t think that would work.” “Well, at least we’d give it a try! Don’t you think? We can’t just give you up to another man. What would people say?” “I don’t care what people would say, mom. They would sa

I really want to see who has captured our son’s stony heart.” Mr. Gracias answered loudly, so that Natasha’s parents could hear. “So this is really happening?” Mr Miller asked in a whisper from his wife. Since he stepped into the living room, he had worn a frown on his face, though Eddy’s parents didn’t seem to care. “Yes. Can you at least smile? Natasha said she got this.” Olivia answered. “Mom, Dad. My fiancée will be here soon.” Eddy responded with a fake smile. He sat next to his parents and looked at Mr. Miller, Natasha’s father. “I don’t think we have met, have we?” Mr. Miller asked with a straight face. “No, we haven’t. Good day, sir. I am Eddy Gracias, I believe you have known this before.” He answered with a chuckle and began to act nervous. “I don’t think I ha
~ After the wedding~ As the driver drove Eddy and Natasha into Eddy’s Villa, Natasha’s mouth fell wide open. It was the biggest Villa she had ever seen her whole life. Alongside finding Eddy’s villa as a mystery, she couldn’t wait to get out of the excess fabric on her body. The wedding dress felt quite heavy on her, but she couldn’t complain. It wasn’t only the dress she had issues with, even the fact that they invited almost everyone in Washington didn’t sit well with her. She could bet with her life that her ex-husband Leo must have heard about it, if not attended. Eddy, on the other hand, wasn’t ready to say anything to her until when necessary, so throughout their journey back home, she didn’t even hear his voice. ‘I guess I have to get used to this new life.’ She thought. After the driver parked the car, Eddy was the first to get out. He began to remove his suit as he headed into the house. “Haa.” Natasha sighed loudly as she watched him walk away. She was about to open t
“Ding! Dong!” The doorbell rang loudly in Natasha’s ears very early the next morning. “Argh.” She groaned and turned on her right. She shut her eyes tight, trying to catch the sleep she was beginning to lose. “Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong!” The doorbell didn’t stop ringing. “What the hell! Why isn’t he answering the f**king door!” She groaned loudly from her sleep and eventually opened her eyes. She was pretty sure whosoever was at the door wasn’t her visitor but Eddy’s. ‘Is he still asleep or what?’ She reluctantly got out of bed, wore her slippers and dragged her feet on the floor as she headed out of the room. All this while, the doorbell kept ringing so loud that her ears began to hurt. “I knew I shouldn’t have chosen a room on the ground floor. Gosh!” She muttered. “I’m coming, okay?! You can stop punching it already!” She yelled as she reached for the doorknob and opened the door. In front of her stood Noah, whose face was red and swollen due to unstoppable tears. Although
Eddy was back at his business a day after his wedding. He was in his office, going through the activities of the days he had been absent when the telephone began to ring. He breathed out heavily and picked up the phone. “Mr. Eddy, a man named Leo Jones is here to see you, but he says he has no appointment with you. I tried turning him down but he kept insisting.” Eddy creased his eyes as the name rang a bell in his head. “His last name is Jones?” He further asked. “Yes sir, and…” “Let him in.” Eddy butted in with a smirk. He hung up and chuckled hard. ‘Leo Jones. I wasn’t expecting that, but okay.’ He raised his brows as he thought. After about a minute or two, the door to his office opened and a young man walked in. He wore a blue shirt and white pants. He looked like he was headed to his office. “Look who we have here.” Eddy uttered, keeping his smirk on. “Hi.” Leo replied. He seemed pretty nervous, but there was no going back. He needed to talk to Eddy about Natasha. Si
Eddy got back from work late at night. He met Natasha, Emma and Noah chatting and laughing in the living room. Noah was the first person to see him walk in. He looked at him and smiled. “Hey, brother!” Noah greeted, and the ladies looked back. “Eddy!” Emma called out of excitement and ran up to him. Natasha and Noah creased their brows out of surprise. They didn’t expect her to act like that. “Hey, Emma! How are you?” Eddy let out a wide smile and carried her in his arms. “I’m very fine, and you? I hope you aren’t too tired.” She asked, and Eddy chuckled. He pulled her closer to him and whispered in her ears. “I am kinda tired, but no one can know this okay?” Emma chuckled and bounced her head. “Natasha made dinner! We were waiting for you to come back before we ate.” “Really? Well, I have to hurry and freshen up! I don’t want to keep y’all waiting.” He carefully put her down and looked at Natasha. His face turned cold and this sent shivers down her spine. He buried his hand
Noah hurried out of his room in his hot outfit. He wore a black, sexy mesh bodysuit, alongside an ash boyfriend jean. He drew a black eyeliner, used mascara and wore lip gloss. This look matched perfectly with his quiff haircut. A boot and handbag perfected his look for the night. As he proceeded to Natasha’s room, he met Eddy who was headed to the living room. Eddy furrowed his brows as soon as his gaze fell on him. Noah took a pause and stared back at him. “What? Why are you staring at me like that?” He raised one of his perfectly carved eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders. “Well, I’m trying to figure out where you are headed dressed up like that.” “What do you think? I’m on my way out.” Noah added with a satisfying grin. “So you are back to this attitude of yours? Going to parties and sleeping with any man you see?” Eddy questioned coldly. “Not any kind of man, okay? Good looking men! And why do you care by the way? Don’t come and start acting like you’re my parent or somet
“You look absolutely stunning.” He pulled her hand gently and moved it to his mouth as he planted a kiss on it. “Same as you. If that makes any sense.” She answered with a chuckle and flushed face. “Oh yes, it does make sense. Can I sit next to you?” He politely asked, and Natasha answered with a nod. This handsome stranger walked from her back up the front of the chair she sat and helped himself out by sitting next to her. “Are you here with anyone? I need to make sure I’m not trespassing.” Natasha shook her head and let out a soft laugh. “I don’t think you are. I came here with my friend, and right now, he is so busy and doesn’t have my time.” She raised her head and looked at Noah, alongside the man that sat next to her. Noah was busy chatting and grinning like a fool with Jeremy. “Well, they seem to be enjoying themselves there. Why are you alone?” Natsha looked away from Noah and brought her focus back to the man next to her. “Well, everyone seemed busy with one thing or
Eddy’s Rolls Royce car pulled up in front of the red carpet. Natasha gulped hard out of nervousness because it was her first time going to a red carpet, with someone well known. Eddy’s driver alighted and rushed to the back to open the car door. Eddy looked at Natasha who seemed to have zoomed out in thoughts. He stretched his hand to her and she looked at him. “It will be over in the next few hours.” He said to her, and she gulped. She bounced her head and gave him her hand. They locked their gazes after their hands touched. Eddy looked away and carefully moved out of the car. Natasha kept her hands in Eddy’s, and he helped her out of the car too. “Careful.” He said to her as she lifted her red Portia and Scarlet dress from getting under her heels. Natasha looked at him in awe, and she caught him smiling warmly at her. ‘Why can’t he be this kind all the time?’ Natasha smiled back at him, and instantly, there was rain of camera flashes on them. Eddy gave her his arm and she too
“I asked a question, and I expect an answer.” Eddy added, after Noah and Natasha refused to give him an answer. “It’s no one.” She answered and picked up her bag. “I’ll be in my room, Noah.” She said to him. She walked to the door and wanted to walk past Eddy, when he suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him. “Let us talk, right now.” He whispered in gritted teeth. “I don’t want…” “Don’t you dare tell me that sh*t. Go to my room right now. I don’t want Emma to see us fighting.” He cut her short and shot her a deadly look. Natasha gulped and yanked her hand off his. She flipped her hair and began to walk to Eddy’s room. Eddy looked at Noah and they stared at each other for a few minutes before he finally walked away without saying a word. He got to his room and locked the door behind him. “What were you thinking, hun?! Are you crazy?! Telling my brother you’re in a relationship knowing fully well he can’t know about the contract!” Eddy smacked. “I never told him
After Noah got home, he checked up on Emma before heading to his room. He slammed into the bed and replayed all he heard those he met at company, say to his hearing. “I made a terrible mistake. I shouldn’t have gone to him at all. What was I thinking? I should have at least dressed like a decent man, not wearing cargo pants and a tank top!” He grabbed his head as he spoke out of great regret for his actions. “F**k me!” He yelled and hit the bed with his fist. His phone vibrated in his pocket, and he took a pause on venting his anger. He pulled out his phone and checked why his phone wouldn’t stop vibrating. He turned it on and saw about five messages from Jeremy. “What was that about?” “Noah, why aren’t you texting me back?” “Why did you have to lie?” “Why did you run off that way?” “I wanted to thank you, but you didn’t even give me the chance.” Noah heaved a sigh and began to text back. “I’m sorry, Jeremy. I shouldn’t have come in the first place.” “Don’t say that.” Jeremy t
“So you have never been married?” Natasha started off a conversation after the awkward moment they had. “I have. Once… but, it failed. I married her because I felt I couldn’t keep dreaming of a lady that barely knows me. I was growing older, and I thought it was best for me to start a family…” He took a pause and looked at her. “Then what happened?” Her curiosity was ignited. “We didn’t love each other as much as we thought. We thought we understood each other, but clearly we didn’t. We had to part ways after a year and a few months.” “Wow. I’m so sorry, Steve.” Natasha remorsefully answered. “Sorry? You don’t have to be sorry. I’m happy that actually happened. If I was still lying to myself and still married to her, maybe we wouldn’t have met. I wouldn’t be able to hit on you like I’m doing right now. Even though you’re a married woman…” he scoffed and stood up from the chair with the coffee in his hand. “I don’t even know what I’m doing. I shouldn’t be doing this. We shouldn’
The address Steve gave her was quite different from what she expected. She thought his studio was the old abandoned warehouse he took her to, but instead he sent her another address. She finished dressing up early, thanks to Noah he was so excited about her going to see him. He was her fashion pro for the occasion. “Turn around, baby girl!” Noah said to her, feeling so proud of himself for the makeover he gave her. “Why are you so hyped about us meeting? Shouldn’t you be pissed that I'm seeing another man when I’m still with your brother?” “Oh please… who am I to judge you? My brother is a pain in the ass. You are my very good friend, you’ve even turned to my best friend overnight, so what else? You can do whatever you please. I don’t care.” Noah answered nonchalantly. Natasha chuckled and bounced her head. “Alright. I’m going to take things slow though. He seems like an Angel, but what if he is worse than your brother? I don’t want to do something I’d later regret.” “Worse th
After breakfast, Noah helped Natasha clean up the table. “You have been so quiet since my mom left. Are you fine?” Noah asked her as they began to wash the dishes. “Oh… Yes. I am fine.” She answered, putting on a feeble smile. “C’mon, even Emma would know you’re lying. Talk to me… what’s wrong?” Natasha sighed and carefully dropped the plate in her hand. “Actually, Eddy and I haven’t really talked about having children… you know…” “Oh… so that is it. Gosh, so stupid of me to think you were worried about what to wear to the red carpet.” “Red carpet? What are you talking about?” Noah rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Please don’t tell me you have forgotten about the Red Carpet event mom talked about. She said you and Eddy have to be there.” “Oh my… I can’t remember her saying anything like that. I was quite lost.” “Obviously. Well, about the baby talk. You should do that soon with Eddy. My mom is a pain in the ass, I’m not sorry to say. She always wants things to go her way.
“Hmm.” Eddy moaned as he turned to lay on his side. He felt something so close to him, it seemed like he was trapped to where he was laying. He was forced to open his eyes, and when his vision got clearer, he met Natasha sleeping peacefully. Her face was very close to his, he could feel her breath on his face. He stared at her for a moment and recalled how it went down the previous night. He heaved a sigh and sat up. He grabbed his head as he felt a throbbing pain. He had a hangover. He closed his eyes tight, trying to adjust to the pain. “How are you feeling?” He heard Natasha speak from behind him. He turned to look at her and their eyes met. “I’m fine.” He answered coldly and stood up. “I’ll move to my room now.” Natasha added, hoping he would say something about last night. “Okay.” He answered and headed to his closest to his towel. Natasha stared at him as he headed to his bathroom. ‘What was I expecting? At least, he isn’t aggressive this time. That’s a good sign.’ She
Natasha bade Steve goodbye after he dropped her in front of Eddy’s mansion. She texted Noah, telling him that she was back home. Noah replied, telling her that he would be back home soon too, that he wanted to drop Jeremy back at his house. She tried to open the door to the house and surprisingly, the door gave way. ‘So he didn’t bother to lock the door?’ She walked into the dark living room, she could hardly see a thing. She traced her hands on the wall to get hold of the light switch. She turned on the lights and she could see everywhere. Nothing seemed different until she suddenly heard a loud crash from the top floors. “What is that?” She exclaimed. Her heart was beating very fast and her eyes were wide open. She instantly recalled that she left Emma in the room all by herself because she wanted to party. She ran up the stairs and headed straight to where Emma was. She opened the door and to her relief, Emma was still very much asleep. She let out a deep sigh and gently cl
