Nina and Laura looked at each other, raised their faces, and looked towards the source of the sound. A man wearing a light pink shirt stood staring at them. The man's face could be categorized as handsome. Still, unfortunately, his feminine face was always adorned with a sarcastic smile, especially towards Nina.
The man was Richard, one of the employees who had worked at the company for a long time; he was in the same division as Nina. But the relationship between the two seemed less than pleasant because Richard often offended or insinuated Nina.
"Richard, what's the matter with you?" Laura said curtly.
"It's still working hours, but you two are talking." Richard acted like a supervisor.
"I know it's still working hours, but the rules of this company don't prohibit us from having a coffee to relieve our fatigue," Laura argued, "the important thing is that we don't neglect our duties and work."
"Oh, yes. It's good to get the job done well, and the boss is satisfied with the results," grinned Richard as he looked at Nina. The girl was silent as she fiddled with the almost empty coffee cup; she knew Richard was being sarcastic because he knew when Emily, Nathan's assistant, asked her to go to the boss.
"What do you mean, Richard?" growled Laura, "what are you doing here anyway? Do you want a coffee?" he sarcastically smiled.
"Haha, I was just passing by," Richard said, his eyes still fixed on Nina. "By the way, Nin. Isn't that the file you sent Yesterday? Why was it returned to you?"
Nina still didn't answer; she finished the rest of her coffee and stood up. "Ra, thank you for the coffee; I'll go first."
Ignoring Richard, Nina walked away, leaving Laura and the man visibly upset at being ignored.
"You're such an arrogant girl; you can't even do your job," Richard swore.
"What a jerk!" Laura retorted as she walked away from Richard. The man froze but grinned faintly and headed towards the CEO's room.

Nathan was still busily engaged in his work when Emily, his assistant, came in and informed him that Richard Stirling had requested permission to come in."Good afternoon, sir." Richard greeted kindly with a smile.
"Hmm, what's the need?" asked Nathan without looking at Richard, his voice so cold.
"Well, sir. I am in the same division as Nina, the employee who joined only seven months ago. I saw her doing her work carelessly, daydreaming a lot."
Nathan raised his head, looking straight at the man standing before him.
"So?" he asked briefly, his face showing interest.
Sensing an opportunity, Richard perked up. "Well, I don't know if that girl has a problem or if she's just lazy; all I see is that she doesn't seem to be doing her job."
"Hmm, then what do you want?"
"Hehe, this is it, sir. I've been working here for almost two years. I've always been able to complete tasks well before. I saw Nina working on a new project report, but she couldn't finish it."
"So?"
"If you like, how about I complete the task? I guarantee it will be completed quickly."
"Hmm, I see," Nathan said thoughtfully.
"That's right, sir. I guarantee that by tomorrow morning, I'll be able to finish it properly."
"Are you capable?" asked Nathan to confirm, "the problem is that Nina is also handling the project."
"That's easy, sir. I can ask Nina for the data; we're in the same division, and she won't mind."
"Alright then, you can go back."
"Thank you, sir. I'll make sure everything is in order tomorrow." Richard said confidently.
"Hmm..." Nathan returned to work but immediately called his assistant after Richard left.
"Emmy, I'd like Richard Stirling's complete data and work record during his time here."
"Yes, boss. I'll get it ready right away."
Nathan couldn't understand why any of his employees would be as devious as Richard. He likes to turn corners and make faces, currying favor here and there. Such a mentality would be very dangerous if left unchecked; it could destroy the company.
Suddenly, he remembered Nina's words; the girl had said earnestly that she had checked the report carefully, but why were there so many mistakes? Nathan nodded his head, and something crossed his mind.
After a while, the assistant came in with a bundle of files requested by the boss. Nathan flipped through and scrutinized them. Now he had an idea of what kind of employee Richard was.
"Tell Nina the report needs to be finished by tomorrow morning; ask her to give me the soft copy."
"Yes, boss."
Meanwhile, Richard, who felt he had the upper hand, entered his office with pride; he saw Nina very busy and serious in front of her computer.
"What are you busy doing, Nin?" Richard stood up with a mocking smile, "Yesterday's report? Don't bother; Mr. Nathan already handed it over to me."
Nina was stunned; she lifted her face and turned to Richard. "I see," she muttered and resumed her work.
"If you revise now, it'll be done by morning?" Richard continued to chatter, but Nina didn't care; she didn't want to bother, but Richard's next words made her stop.
"Your mistake is fatal, Nina. It wouldn't be solved even if you worked on it all day."
"How do you know it's fatal?" she demanded, leaving Richard stunned.
"Y-yeah, Mr. Nathan, from Mr. Nathan, of course. He checked your report Yesterday, right?"
Nina didn't respond but focused on the monitor screen before her. Feeling ignored, Richard became irritated, snorted, and then left Nina.
A few moments after Richard left, Emily entered; she asked Nina to finish the report quickly; it had to be finished today.
Nina was surprised but could only agree with what Nathan's assistant said. 'If Mr. Nathan had told Richard to do it, why did he still tell me to finish it immediately?' Nina thought, but she no longer had time to think about anything because every second of her time was precious; she had to race against time.
"Nina, are we going home together?" Laura walked in, surprising Nina. The office hours had arrived, and all the employees were preparing to leave for their respective homes.
"You go first, Ra. It looks like I have to work late."
"Are you sure? Why don't you continue tomorrow?"
"I can't, Ra. Mr. Nathan wants it done today."
"Crazy boss! What a killer!" cursed Laura.
"Hehe, be careful, Ra. The walls have ears here."
"What? That's scary; I'll go back instead of getting into trouble. You be careful, Nin. Take care of your health, and don't forget to eat, bye!"
"Okay, Miss Chatty, bye."
Meanwhile, a man sat casually on the sofa in Nathan's room. He was waiting for Nathan to finish his work, but after waiting for a long time, his best friend was still struggling with work.
"Tan, come on a minute. I have good news," said Michael Wilson, Nathan's only friend who had always supported him.
"What news?" asked Nathan without lifting his face.
Michael sighed; his best friend was a workaholic now. "Sonya, don't you want to know about her anymore?"
Nathan was momentarily silent; then, he raised his face to look at Michael. "Why, it has nothing to do with me."
"Are you sure, Tan?" Michael confirmed he couldn't believe his best friend had become such a chunk of ice. Nathan just nodded with certainty.
"Well then, let's go out for dinner, to a club, or wherever. Don't stay at the office, Tan; you're not a robot; you work day and night."
Nathan smiled; he knew his best friend would end up like that. "What's wrong with you, Mike? I'm just relaxed."
"Hmm, that's fine then. Have a good date with the files." Michael chuckled as he left, and Nathan just shook his head. He called his assistant, who was still waiting for his instructions.
"Emmy, how's Nina's work progressing?"
"Still working on it, boss; looks like she'll be working overtime."
"Well, then you can go home."
"Yes, boss."
In an instant, the atmosphere in the big office became quiet; the lights were on in every corner of the room, signaling that daylight had changed. Nina was still busy completing her tasks; she no longer cared about the situation around her, focusing only on her work.
Unnoticed by the girl, someone quietly entered and approached her.
A handsome man stood beside Nina, watching her busy work. Occasionally, he looked at Nina's computer screen, then nodded and smiled, his gaze returning to the beautiful, energetic girl. While Nina was utterly unaware of the man's presence, she was completely immersed in her work, her delicate fingers dancing agilely on the keyboard. "Evening Nina, you're not home yet?" the man's voice greeted her, the baritone sounding friendly and warm. Suddenly, Nina was surprised; she stood still before finally turning her head and lifting her face. Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight, the girl's heart almost leapt to see who had spoken earlier. "E-evening, Sir." Nina stammered, her voice trembling. "Hey, what's wrong with you, Nina? Did you see a ghost?" Nathan chuckled at Nina's frightened but adorable reaction. "Yes, sir. I didn't know you were here." "You were so busy typing that you didn't even hear the door knock." Nathan smiled, pulled out another chair and sat next to
Nina was still stunned when someone lowered the glass of the car's front door; a man was faintly visible behind the wheel, and then a familiar voice called out to her. "Come quickly, Nina! Do you want the police to arrest me for entering and stopping in the wrong lane," said the man in the car. "Oh, y-yes, sir!" Nina hurried inside and sat in the back seat. "Hey! Do you think I'm the driver, you sit there?" "Oh, um, sorry." Nina quickly moved to the front seat, and the car sped out of the bus lane. Nina still looked nervous and hadn't expected her boss to ask her to get into his car. "What's wrong with you, Nina? Being told to get in is like looking at a ghost," Nathan said, keeping his eyes focused on the road ahead. "I... I didn't know it was you, I thought..." Nina hesitated to continue. "What did you think it was?" Nathan urged. "I thought it was a criminal who wanted to kidnap me," Nina replied innocently. Nathan laughed at Nina's frightened response. "Yeah, you're ri
"Who was that, Nin?" asked a woman, standing next to Nina while looking at the girl in wonder. Nina had just realized that someone else was watching her. She turned her head and was surprised to see who was beside her. "Auntie Sophie?" Nina said as if she couldn't believe it, "When did you come? Why didn't you tell me?" "I've been here since late afternoon. I thought you had gone home from work, but you haven't, so I've been waiting for you on the terrace in front of your room." The woman was a little annoyed, "I've called you many times, but your cell phone is not active," she added. "Oh, I'm sorry, Auntie. I have to work overtime today because I have work to finish." Nina said as she opened her bag and took out her cell phone, "O God, my cell phone is out of power. I haven't opened it since the afternoon, so I didn't know it was out of power." "By the way, who drove you earlier, Nina? If I look at the car, it's not an ordinary person, and it's a high-class car." "Let's go insid
Nina was stunned; she tried to remember who knew her number because she had separated unique and work numbers. "Ah, maybe it's a wrong number or a prankster," she muttered. Nina hurried to the bathroom, cleaned up, and changed her clothes. But when she returned to bed, her cell phone rang again, an incoming call from an unknown number. The girl was stunned; she hesitated to pick it up, worried about pranksters or marketing offering goods or services. Finally, Nina picked it up; if it was a prankster, she was ready to block it. "Hello," greeted Nina, "excuse me, who is this?" Silence, no answer from the other side. "Hmm, okay, maybe you have the wrong number, good night." Nina was just about to disconnect the call when suddenly, there was laughter on the other end. "Hello, who are you? Please don't play the fool!" Nina scolded irritably. "Yes-yes... so fierce, dear." There was a voice on the other end. Nina was stunned by that familiar voice. "Hello, Nina. Don't you recognize m
Laura was stunned, her best friend silently watching someone from a distance. What exactly was going on with Nina? Laura returned to the figure that had captured her friend's attention. An arrogant and cold figure, ready to freeze anything more complicated than the ice at the North Pole. "Mr. Nathan is handsome, isn't he? But unfortunately..." Laura hung her words to provoke Nina. "What?" asked Nina absentmindedly; the girl seemed to have just woken up. Laura chuckled, teasing Nina that she was interested in the iceberg. But Laura didn't expect her best friend to ask a question that almost made her eyeballs pop out. "Ra, is Mr. Nathan married yet?" asked Nina casually. "What?!" responded Laura in all her surprise, "Nina, you didn't take the wrong medicine, did you, Nin?" Nina shook her head in confusion; what was wrong with her question? She explained the meaning of her question because she was curious about the boss's attitude; maybe he had problems at home or in his family, so
A man Nathan knew walked in; he looked surprised to see Nathan coughing; he looked at the table; there were some appetizing-looking sandwiches. Nathan quickly grabbed a glass and sipped water to neutralize his gagging. "Asshole! Why didn't you knock first?" he scolded. The newly arrived man scratched his hair and grinned, "He he, sorry boss, I forgot," Michael replied innocently. Without prompting, he sat down next to Nathan. "Well, that looks delicious, Tan. Didn't you offer it to me?" Michael whined as he stared at the sandwiches on the table. "You haven't had breakfast yet, Mike?" asked Nathan as he continued eating; Michael shook his head. "Well, just take a piece, no more," Nathan said. "Ha ha ha, since when has this boss been so stingy with breakfast, he usually gives me food to finish." Michael laughed and grumbled, but his hand was actively reaching for a piece of sandwich. "Tsk, noisy, this is different, it's special." Both men were busy munching on the food on the tabl
Laura was stunned; what else would this jerk come here for? Did it have anything to do with Nina's change in attitude? The girl was still trying to guess and understand the situation. Richard, the man Laura had called a jerk, smiled sarcastically. Laura understood that the smile was intended for her best friend, Nina, because the man's eyes never left Nina's. "Um, sorry, Mr. Richard, it looks like you'd like to join us for lunch," Laura said sarcastically, "but I'm sorry, we only want to eat together, so we're not inviting anyone else." The man looked at Laura and smiled sarcastically. "I don't need your invitation; I'll invite you to celebrate my success in getting a new project from my boss." Laura glanced at Nina; the girl didn't react in any way; she could more or less feel the situation. "Well, is it really that important to celebrate work that hasn't yet seen the light of day?" Laura said sarcastically. "What do you mean?" Richard looked exasperated. "No point," Laura snapp
A man walked with long strides, hurrying to catch up with Nina. To see Mr. Ben, he stopped his steps. "Good afternoon, Sir." Richard greeted Mr. Benjamin with a friendly greeting. He had no idea who the committee members would be, but seeing the middle-aged man standing here, he understood. Mr. Benjamin, the seasoned manager, was one of them. Richard felt annoyed because he was suddenly notified, so he did not have time to find out who the committee members were. Before, he was given a day or two to lobby them to support him. "Afternoon Richard, so you and Nina are presenting this afternoon?" asked the middle-aged man known as Ben. "That's right Mr. Ben, Mr. Nathan himself gave this task to me." Richard said proudly. Mr. Ben looked at Richard while frowning, "Mr. Nathan himself gave this assignment to you?" he repeated. Richard nodded with a smile. "If Mr. Nathan has given it to you, there should be no need to present it to the committee. Because the accountability of this project
Nathan was stunned, "Sorry, what does that mean?""Well, sir. I'm the president director of a company in Belfast, so I can easily give you a position in my company, so you're not jobless here."The man said proudly. He was the husband of one of Nina's cousins who had no role in O'Meisceall Castle. He could attend the event because his wife had received an invitation. After all, her father was one of Lord Arthur's cousins."Oh, thank you for your kind offer," Nathan replied with a smile, although deep in his heart, he was annoyed because they indirectly accused Nathan of living on his wife's family. As Aran happened to overhear the man's conversation, he felt obligated to set the record straight."Haha, what did you offer Sir Nathan Wilson earlier?" Aran laughed as he approached Nathan and the man; of course, Aran's laughter drew the attention of the others, so they all turned to the three people."As you all know, the Wilson family is one of the Crazy Rich families in New York City. S
"Tan, you should go back to Philly." Grandpa Wilson asked Nathan to come back. Nathan was stunned to learn why his grandfather was asking him to return. The grandfather explained that he had already agreed with Nathan's uncle and aunt to celebrate Nina's pregnancy because this was their first great-grandchild and their first grandchild."Geez, I wonder what's wrong, Grandpa." Nathan laughed at his grandfather's explanation. But I'm sorry, Grandpa. My wife and I won't be able to return anytime soon, as this is a vulnerable time for my wife's pregnancy. She'll be exhausted from the long flight."There was a sigh from Grandpa Wilson. "Is Nina not doing well?""Oh, everything is good, Grandpa. I don't have to worry here, because the Castle has family doctors and nurses who keep a close eye on her, and the food for my wife is specially made with the right nutrients for her gestational age. Also, here I don't have to worry about people having bad intentions towards my wife."Nathan reminde
"What's important, what's important Nathany?" asked Nina in confusion."Honey, we've been making love all month, not a single night off.""Are you bored, Nathany? Or tired?" interrupted Nina quickly, both of them a young couple who were still very passionate about sex.Nathan chuckled at his wife's comment. "How could I be bored, baby. You know, I often ask for more.""Hm, so?" Nina was confused by her husband's attitude."I'm just wondering for this month, the previous months I used to take a week off at the beginning of the month, waiting for your monthly guests to finish, but this month...""Nathany." Nina gasped at her husband's mention of monthly guests. She quickly got up and grabbed her cell phone to look at her monthly calendar."Oh my God! Nathany!" Nina squealed as she covered her mouth."What's wrong, baby?" Nathan woke up and tensed up."My Hubby Baby, I'm six days late," Nina said happily."Oh, really?" Nathan was surprised. Nina nodded as she showed him her menstrual cal
"Dad..." Aran murmured, his eyes filled with tears as he saw his father looking strong and healthy. It was indeed a miracle. Previously, his father looked helpless, let alone able to walk like that; just to get up, he had to be carried.Lord Arthur smiled at Aran and Nathan warmly. He went to his seat in the center while Nina sat on the right next to him. Nathan sat next to Nina. Aran sat across from Nina; he was to the left of his father."I'm sorry you waited so long. My baby Alicia fell asleep," said Lord Arthur, smiling. He looked at Nina, who was also smiling embarrassedly."It's okay, Dad. I'm so happy to see your condition now, it's a miracle." Aran said enthusiastically."That's right, Aran. We're going to celebrate Lady Maxwell's arrival, as well as the confirmation of her title and the recording of her name in the Maxwell family register."Lord Arthur said excitedly. He ordered Fred to prepare everything, and his face lit up. Since it was a little late, he immediately ordere
"The thing is, I'm suspicious of my wife and brother," Nathan said while looking at his brother-in-law. His handsome face looked serious. Aran's face was no less serious seeing his brother-in-law like that. Suspicious of what?"What does that mean? Suspicious of Alice? Suspicious in what way?"A series of questions rolled out of the young nobleman's mouth. Nathan sighed, explaining that Nina was young, energetic, and not a typical spoiled woman who liked to complain. Since childhood, her mother had trained her to be independent. She always endured any hardship without complaining. If it was just going up and down the stairs, it wasn't something she could complain about.Ever since Nathan had known Nina, she had never complained about anything to him. They did like to discuss things, but not as complaints. However, Nathan remembered that Nina had complained that she was often tired, felt tired easily, and wanted to laze around in her room. That happened a few days before the collision,
Nina and Nathan were stunned. Important news? What important news? Wasn't dinner still an hour away?Nina and Nathan rushed to meet Mr. Fred, the man Lord Arthur had personally sent to fetch Nina to his private quarters. Nina was stunned, her heart beating erratically. She had been waiting for this: meeting her father as a daughter and father in person.Nathan could feel his wife's anxiety. He patted Nina's shoulder gently and then grasped Nina's hand, which began to feel cold. Nathan nodded with a smile of support."Come on baby, it's the time you've been waiting for. I'll carry you all the way down."Nathan stroked his wife gently. Nina nodded, the support from her husband calming her down. Nathan carried Nina down the stairs, and even though Nina refused, Nathan immediately carried his wife."Take your time honey, I'll wait for you in front of the pavilion until you get back.""What is it, Nathany, you can rest in the room," Nina refused."No-no. I don't want to see my wife exhaust
Suddenly, Nina leaned closer to her husband. "Nathany, am I dreaming?" she whispered."Why, darling?" Nathan replied in surprise."This building in front of us is like an illustration from a fairy tale." Nina looked up at the tall building before her, several towers rising on three sides. Light shone from every window in the solid natural stone building."Ancient European castles are like this, dear. Illustrators create images based on real images that have existed, then they add imagination to enrich their creations." Nathan explained as he looked at the ancient yet majestic building."Why are you standing here?" Aran approached them, who still hadn't moved, even though the vehicle that had taken them had already left."We're amazed by the view of this castle, brother. Isn't that right, honey?" Nathan replied with Nina's nod. "Apparently, the castle is quite old.""That's right," Aran smiled, gazing at the magnificent castle. This is one of the many old castles still inhabited, about
"Afraid? Afraid of what, my love?" Nathan was stunned. He looked at his wife, and there was nervousness on that beautiful face. "Isn't this the moment you've been waiting for, meeting your real father"?"That's right Nathany, I really miss Daddy, but I don't know what to do, what to say? I'm afraid I'll become a stranger to my own father." Nina sighed softly, question after question running through her mind."You know, Nathany. I've never felt a father's embrace, I don't know how to deal with and be devoted to a father."Nathan was silent at his wife's words. However, he was more fortunate than Nina because Nathan lived in complete love with both parents for eighteen years so that he could feel a father's love. Whereas Nina's father left her when she was only one year old, and there was no memory left in her memory about her father."My Love, don't worry. Although you have never met Daddy and have no memory of him, but believe me, the inner bond as a child and father will guide you. S
"Will, look at that!" said Mr. Carter, his eyes not leaving the young couple dancing amongst the other couples. Grandpa Wilson followed the direction of his friend's gaze; Nathan's grandfather was stunned."Christy? Who is that young man? Could it be her college friend?" muttered Grandpa Wilson."That's your granddaughter, isn't it, Will?" asked Mr. Carter for confirmation, and Grandpa Wilson nodded."Do you know who the young man is dancing with your granddaughter?" asked Mr. Carter again. There was a ripple of excitement on his face, and Grandpa Wilson just shrugged his shoulders."That's Bob, my grandson," Mr. Carter replied with a smile."Oh, is that Bob?""Yeah, that's right Will. I haven't had a chance to introduce him to you yet, he's been busy studying abroad, when he came back I put him in charge of the company under Nathan."Grandpa Wilson nodded, but how did these two get along and know each other so well? Both grandfathers were surprised. They had tried hard to bring Natha
