The previous night

I listened intently as Alex finished telling me the real reason behind John and Sybil’s marriage. “So Grandpa thought that John should marry Sybil, just in case the photos ever turned up somewhere. If they were married, it wouldn’t be a scandal if photos of them in compromising positions were to appear.” He shrugged. “That’s all I know about this.”
