On the following morning, Lisa was greeted by the smells of fried rice and crispy chicken. Ricardo was holding a platter of fried rice and chicken and a bottle of soda as she sluggishly rose up on the bed and stretched herself. Her jaw dropped wide in surprise as her eyes landed on the smiling Ricardo holding the tray and soda bottle.
"Good morning, love," Ricardo said as he placed the breakfast in front of her. "How was your night?"Lisa's face was flushed with confusion as she gazed at Ricardo. This beautiful and handsome man with blue eyes was beaming at her in place of the Ricardo she met that night at the club."What are you doing?" She asked."I'm bringing you breakfast in bed." He replied as he sat on the edge of the bed, facing her."But, you've never done anything like that before.""Well, I'm doing it right now." Shrugging his shoulders and chewing his bottom lip, he muttered. "You said that you trusted me and that you loved me." He added in aLisa found it hard to imagine that Susan Kincaid, the lovely young woman whose hair usually got blown by the air and who have always worries about Ricardo's activity could be the killer or the one who may have arranged the death. What could possibly have motivated her to do such a thing?Lisa gently close her mouth, the shock fading off and asked. "But for what reason?""We're only making a guess." Ricardo replied in practically a whisper."We?" Lisa asked with confusion etched on her face.Ricardo nodded. "We. My private investigator and I.""You have a private investigator?" Lisa asked, more amazed than shocked.Ricardo nodded and then sighed a heavy sigh. "We've been going over this for years but it's merely our assumption. We don't have any evidence.""So, what is this assumption? What makes her the most plausible suspect?""Because she is my half-sister. She is the only one who has a reasonable motive to hurt me, the only one who has a go
Three months laterAfter working overtime that evening, she flagged down a cab and drove to the club where they had met for the first time because Ricardo had instructed her to do so.She walked into the club, which was strangely empty, and thought about why he wanted them to meet there.Knowing there had to be a legitimate reason for the club being deserted at this hour of the night, she walked into the club and soon noticed Ricardo seated alone at a table. She flashed a bright smile at him and took a few steps forward.Even after three months of dating, she couldn't believe that the cold knight she had met only a few weeks ago could also be a cute boyfriend who lavished her with affection, clothing, and food - you name it."Ric," she began as she drew out the second chair and sat down. "You're looking far too good right now. What's going on here?" She continued, her gaze drawn to Ricardo's white tuxedo and new haircut."I've been here waiting for
She eventually decided on how to break the news to Ricardo and cooked his favorite food.Lisa was smiling from side to side as they sat down to eat that night, but Ricardo's mind was too focused with his work to notice. After taking a few bites out of her food due to the lack of appetite, Lisa directed her gaze on Ricardo, who was preoccupied with his food, and said. "How do you think you're going to feel if I'm pregnant?"Ricardo lifted his eyes from his food and locked them on hers. "Great."Lisa beamed, lifted one of the cups which the unknown drug was, and drank from the water she had poured inside."Do you think I'll be a great mum?" Lisa questioned, placing the cup on the table.Ricardo nodded, his brows wrinkled in concentration as he considered the question. "Why are you suddenly talking about pregnancy and being a mother?""This afternoon, I went to the hospital." She started to say.Ricardo set down his cutlery, his puzzled expressio
"Fuck!" As the attacker rode away on a motorcycle, Ricardo swore in frustration. He slowly turned around and limped back to their room to see how Lisa was doing. As he entered the room, he turned on the light, and what he saw caused him to fall to his knees in dread and shock."Lisa," he called as he crawled to meet the bleeding figure on his bed, tears welling up in his eyes and his heart hammering so loudly that he was afraid it might stop operating at any moment."No! Lisa, no! No!" He crawled over to her and began tapping her on the shoulder to get her to wake up. He examined her wounded tummy, noting that she had been stabbed at least once before he awoke."Aaahhhhhhhh!" He yelled bitterly as he placed his still-good hand on her tummy. "No." He muttered, shaking his head in denial, as he stared at Lisa's almost-dead figure. History couldn't really be repeating itself, could it?"911." He murmured as the number popped into his head and he sprung to his feet and da
Ricardo gently opened his eyes and looked around the room, trying to make sense of what was going on and forcing the awful dream he had just had to the back of his mind with the thought that he would not allow anything bad to happen to Lisa, at least not while he was still breathing.Someone by his side sighed in relief, and he tilted his head in the direction of the sound."Thank Goodness he is still alive." The voice said as his gaze met Mrs. Kincaid's face, who was clearly the owner of the voice. "Ah...Ric, thank Goodness you're still alive."Ricardo's brows knit together and he opened his lips as his eyes were drawn to a bag of blood on a dripstand that was being connected to his left hand. "What am I doing here?"Mrs. Kincaid sighed heavily, tears in her eyes, and she said. "Thank your lucky stars that you're still alive. I was beginning to believe I'd lost you.""You're not answering my question. What exactly am I doing in a hospital? Where is Lisa? Wh
Ricardo hailed a cab and made his way to the local police station. The police were taken aback when they saw him, but they sent him to the interrogation room, not as a suspect but as a witness. A few hours later, after answering all of their questions and without leaving any stone unturned, he walked out the door of the police station and headed straight to his apartment, which was cordoned off by yellow police tapes. He stepped into their bedroom, avoided glancing at their bed, and then picked up his phone and debit card before walking to his garage. He slipped into one of his cars and sped out, all the while dialing a phone number."Hello." Into the phone, a feminine voice said."I'm Ricardo." He stated, his voice as icy as ever. For a few seconds, there was a long, awkward pause before the feminine voice replied. "Yes?""Your friend is sick. She's at a hospital." He answered."What have you done to her?" The feminine voice asked, her loathing fo
Two days later, Lisa sluggishly opened her eyes, scanning her surroundings to ascertain her whereabouts, and Summer's face began to take shape in her vision. When she saw Summer, she immediately thought to herself, "I'm dreaming." Because the last time she and Summer had seen or talked to each other was the day she and Summer had clashed over Ricardo's true identity."Summer?" She spoke gently to the laughing figure in her vision."Yeah." Summer replied, heavinga relived sigh. "It's me, Lisa. How are you feeling? Let me go get the doctor."She grabbed Summer's wrist before she could walk away and asked weakly. "What is going on? Where am I?""It's a long story but thank Heavens you're alive. Let me go and get the doctor.""Doctor? Where am I?" She questioned again, looking around the room."In a hospital." Summer replied while attempting to walk away."Am I about to give birth?"Summer's heart sank when she heard this, and she had t
Standing in front of room 304, Lisa breathed a deep sigh, not trying to grimace in pain as she did.She took a few seconds to read the number on the door before deciding to knock.Knock. Knock. No one answered, but she got a strong feeling that someone was inside the room, so she knocked again.Ricardo walked up to the door and peered through the peep hole to see who was knocking. When he realized who it was, a wave of rage swept through him, and he opened the door."What are you doing here?" As soon as he stepped through the door, he asked coldly.Lisa flinched as Ricardo's cold blue eyes met hers, and she immediately summoned her stubborn side to take control. Her stubborn side suddenly took over, shrugging away all the coldness in Ricardo's eyes."To talk to you Mr. CEO." She replied."I don't want to talk to you.""However," she said, raising the envelope in her hand, "I want to talk to you about this.""You still need to be
Ricardo opened his mouth as he focused his hard gaze on Susan and stated, "Apologies, baby sister, but I'm afraid I can't let this go. I can't fucking let this go!"He walked out of the room without looking back and neither was he aware of Lisa running after him. He slid inside his car and as he was ready to start his car, the passenger's door opened and Lisa slipped inside the car."You should have stayed with her." He said as he started the car and accelerated out of the parking lot."I... I want..." Lisa stumbled over her words, unsure of what to say."You don't trust me?""I trust you but... you are upset right now and I'm afraid you might hurt him.""No one, not even you, can stop me from hurting him.""Ricardo.""Now is not the time to Ricardo me.""No one, including you and Susan, will benefit from your being imprisoned. Neither Susan nor I want that for you, and I'm sure you don't want that for yourself either."Ricardo said as he slowed his car
"Can you tell me what's going on?" Lisa questioned, her brows raised in concern."Susan is at the hospital," he said as he turned to face her. "I'm sure the news came as a shock to her."Lisa sighed, gently pushed herself out of bed, and said. "I'll go with you.""But...""Shhhh...I've got this." With a shrug of her shoulder, "I'm strong enough to even go back home. I'm not sure why they haven't discharged me yet."She walked up to Summer and gave her a bear embrace. "Thank you for everything you've done. I love you."Summer wrapped her in a bear hug, tears welling up in her eyes as she did. "I love you as well.""You should go home right now; I'll come around when I'm strong enough."Summer smiled cautiously and nodded.≈"I'm here to see Susan Kincaid." To the nurse in charge, Ricardo said. The nurse looked down at the computer in front of her, typed in a few letters, then looked up.Ricardo and Lisa hurriedly board
Timothy Freeman slid open the van door, nodded to his colleagues, who were still seated in the car, put on a wireless earpiece, and closed the van after getting a text from Mr. Kim a few minutes earlier. One of Timothy Freeman's coworkers had already hacked the neighborhood's CCTV cameras, and they all watched as Timothy Freeman, with the help of Mr. Kim, entered the Kincaid's property. Two minutes later, Timothy Freeman was in front of Ricardo's apartment, and cracking Ricardo's password was not a difficult task for him.He walked in and went right to the kitchen, taking out all the cups and putting two drops of an unknown drug into each one before putting them back in their places. Then he went into the dining room, where he placed a camera in a flower vase that was strategically placed in one corner of the room before heading out the door.He and his team had been waiting all day and were overjoyed when Ricardo and Ellen started eating, but they stopped s
Ricardo connected his chilly, melancholy, and curious eyes with Mr. Wu's as he entered his hotel room and said. "What exactly were you talking about?"Getting to his feet, Mr. Adrian Wu headed toward the corner of his room where a board had been set up with many photographs pinned to it and numerous drawn arrows connecting one picture to the next.He pointed to a picture of a man with an extremely flat jawline, beady eyes, and a straight mouthache and said, "Him."Ricardo looked at the man with a look of complete incredulity on his face and said, "Go straight to the point, Adrian.""This investigation is just as important to you as it is to me. I've been working nonstop on this case, depriving myself of sleep, food, and the pleasures of women. I've been working on this case for 10 years in the hopes of discovering what I've been missing, and just a few months ago, I began an even more thorough investigation into him.""Kim?"Mr. Wu replied with a nod of
When Timothy arrived at the port, he quickly packed his truck, grabbed his small bag, and got out of the car, praying that he hadn't made a mistake. After completing all boarding procedures, he began walking towards the ship, completely unaware that a man in black was keeping an eye on him. With lightning speed, the man in black went closer to Timothy and pulled a small, sharp knife that looked like a pen, cutting through his stomach in a single motion.Timothy Freeman felt a searing pain in his stomach, and he immediately put his hands on it, attempting to figure out what was wrong."Blood," he mumbled as he looked down at his hands, which were covered in his own blood. His legs began to shake and his vision grew blurry as he looked around, attempting to figure out who had done this to him while wincing in pain.Within seconds, he was on his knees, grasping his stomach, and he couldn't make out any more images. No! In fear of dying, he thought. Tr
