3. To her death

When Annabelle woke up, she saw Evelyn Presley, her mother in-law and a slender beautiful lady. Annabelle was disappointed that she was still alive. She thought she'd died. There was nothing to live for, why didn't they let her die. Seeing Evelyn doesn't make things better. This woman has always hated her and made her life a living hell.

Well, not just her but every member of the Presley family. They all treat her as a slave instead of a daughter-in-law. They constantly remind her that she's an orphan and no matter how badly they treat her, there is nothing she can do. She has no one to turn to.

Annabelle has no one…. No parents, no relatives. The only family she has doesn't love her. And the only man that she has ever loved hates her. Everyone thought she was living like a queen in the Presley family. No one knew she had been living in hell.

The old Mr. Presley, the only member of the Presley family who has always loved Annabelle and always stood up for her, has been in a coma for almost a year after a mysterious ghastly car accident. Life became more difficult when the old Mr. Presley went into a coma. Annabelle would always wish for him to wake up. She needs him, especially in a moment like this.

“Finally you are awake. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy that you are awake, I'm just glad that you could sign these papers,” Evelyn Presley said sarcastically as she threw a paper at Annabelle.

Annabelle was shocked when she saw that the paper was a divorce paper with Richard's signature already on it. She laughed painfully in her heart. Whythe fuck is she shocked. She should have expected it.

“Why are you acting shocked? You should have expected this when you killed the Presley grandchild.” Evelyn spat.

Annabelle clenched her fist, she felt her head spinning. They dare to blame the death of her child on her. Weren't they the ones that made her do hard work despite her health condition when she was pregnant. And her husband was with another woman instead of coming to the hospital to save his child. Annabelle couldn't say anything, she doesn't have any strength in her. What is there to argue with these devious people? They are more powerful than her, there's nothing she can do. She can't even defend herself.

Evelyn glared at her when she was delaying to sign the papers. “Sign the paper fast and get the fuck out of the Presley family. Don't think you are gonna leave with anything because you didn't come with anything. You are nothing but a poor orphan we gave shelter to.”

Annabelle chuckled painfully. She was so stupid to think that venomous people like them will ever have a heart to love her despite all the love and kindness she has shown them, and the pains she endured for them.

She signed the divorce paper and threw it at Evelyn. “You all can go to hell!” She fired defiantly. Evelyn wanted to fire back but she beat her to it.

“I won't ask why Richard is not here to give me the papers himself because I'm sure he's hiding in shame for being the reason his child died!”

“Don't you dare say that! You killed the child and not Richard. He couldn't come here because he is spending a sweet time with his fiance. He endured three years of his life with you and finally, he is free from a gold digger like you. Leave this city and don't ever think of coming close to the Presley family. You should be grateful that we are kind enough to pay up the hospital bills.” Evelyn spat and turned to the lady who had been standing mute. “Let's go Stephanie.”

Stephanie nodded and looked at Annabelle. She felt pity towards her. How could the Presley family leave her with nothing. How could she survive?

Evelyn stopped at the door and walked back to Annabelle. “I'm sure you would like to see this too.” She showed the news on her phone to Annabelle.

Annabelle widened her eyes in shock seeing what was written on the news about her.

‘Annabelle Presley, the wife of Richard Presley, was caught on a bed with another man despite being heavily pregnant. In the process of trying to escape, she fell and risked the baby's life. The doctor's tried all they could to save the child but they couldn't. Annabelle Presley is a gold digger who killed Presley's grandchild. She deserves no mercy.’

“What the fuck is this!” Annabelle screamed in horror, especially when she saw the fake photo of her on a bed with another man.

Evelyn laughed mockingly and victoriously. “As it is now, this is the only safe place you can be because the reporters will eat you alive if they set their eyes on you. As the kind hearted family we are, we arranged a secret pathway for you. The guards outside will lead you to the car that will drive you out of this city and don't think of returning. Now Richard can be with Anita without people pointing hands at him. I have already cleared the misunderstanding with the photo from a few days ago.”

“You people can't do this to me! I will make you all pay!” Annabelle hollered in despair.

“I will watch you try,” Evelyn said mockingly as she turned and walked away with a victorious laugh.

Once Evelyn and Stephanie left the room, Annabelle broke down in tears. She couldn't hold it anymore. It's so painful. She felt as if she couldn't breathe. It wasn't enough that they killed her child. They also ruined her reputation. She really wants to die, but she will not cease to breathe if she doesn't make the Presley family pay.

With this determination, she followed the guards who drove her out of the city. Unfortunately they had an accident. The brake wasn't working.

Annabelle laughed at her stupidity. Why didn't she think about it, the Presley family won't be so generous to help her. They only led her to her death.
