Sonia

I was still crying when a soft knock echoed through the room.

I quickly wiped my tears, trying to pull myself together.

“Come in,” I said, forcing my voice to sound normal.

The door opened and Daniel stepped inside.

His eyes scanned my face and he quickly moved and sat beside me on the bed

"What's wrong? Are you okay?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.

I almost laughed at the irony.

How could he ask such a question when he is the reason why my life is miserable?

I wanted to scream at him, to tell him how much I hated him but I knew better.

Instead, I forced a small smile and lied and said, “I’m fine. Just tired.”

Suddenly, he reached out and cupped my cheek, rubbing it with his thumb.

"Are you sure? You can tell me anything."

I was tense. His touch made my skin crawl.

I leaned back slightly, hoping he would get the hint, but he didn’t seem to notice.

"Trust me, I am fine." I repeated, shifting slightly to pull away from his touch.

Daniel studied me for a w

Ethan A sharp knock on my door pulled me out of my sleep. I groaned, rolling over as I tried to ignore it. Who could be disturbing me this early? I barely got any sleep last night as I was thinking about Sonia and Jay and now, when I finally managed to drift off, someone is at my door. I heard another knock, louder this time. I sighed in frustration, rubbing my eyes before getting up. As I opened the door, my eyes widened in shock when I saw Celine holding a tray of food. I frown, “What do you want this early morning?” I asked, looking at her suspiciously. Instead of answering, she brushed past me and walked into the room. I turned, shutting the door behind me and faced her. “Celine, I asked you a question. What are you doing here?” She calmly placed the tray on a small table and pulled out a chair. Then, she turned to me with a soft smile. “Good morning, my love.” I folded my arms across my chest. “Morning,” I muttered. “I made you breakfast,” she said sweetly. “I t

SoniaI quickly hid Ethan’s card inside my purse and took a deep breath before stepping out. The guards were already looking for me, their eyes scanning the area. As soon as they spotted me, they rushed over. "Are you alright, Ms. Sonia?" One of them asked, concern etched on his face. I forced a small smile. "I'm fine," I lied, even though my heart was still racing. They nodded and guided me back to the shopping mall. The salesgirls continued helping me pick out wedding dresses and accessories. My hands moved slightly, selecting items without thinking. I wasn’t in the mood to shop but Daniel had insisted, saying our wedding is in a week and he wants me to look perfect.Daniel would have come with me but he got a call about an urgent matter at the office. That was the only good thing about today. Once I was done, the guards carried my shopping bags to the car. One of them held the door open for me and I slid inside, gazing blankly out of the window. Tears welled up in my e

SoniaMy breath caught in my throat as I met Daniel’s furious gaze. His jaw was clenched, his nostrils flaring and his dark eyes burned with suspicion. Did he hear me talking to Ethan? I forced myself to remain calm, tightening my grip on the doorknob to stop my hands from shaking. "Daniel… what’s wrong?" I asked, trying to sound normal. He stepped closer, his eyes scanning my face. "What took you so long to open the door?" His voice was low but sharp, sending a shiver down my spine. I quickly forced a nervous chuckle. "I was freshening up," I lied. "I didn’t expect you to come so soon." Daniel’s gaze flickered toward the bathroom door. His jaw tightened. "I heard voices," he said coldly. "Who were you talking to?" My heart pounded. He did hear something. I shook my head quickly. "Voices? Oh, you must have heard the TV," I said with a forced smile. "The TV was on while I was taking a shower," I said nervously. His eyes darkened as he took another step forward. I resist

Daniel I halted mid-step, my body tensing as I lifted my gaze to the window of my room. The curtain moved slightly as if someone had been standing there just a while ago. I narrowed my eyes. “Sonia?” I muttered under my breath, still gazing at the window. Is she watching me? I waited, scanning the window for another glimpse but nothing. The curtain was still. "Maybe I am overthinking things," I murmured to myself but still, I couldn't take any chances. I turned to Dragon, my most trusted man and spoke in a low and serious tone. “I want more men watching over Sonia. I want to know about every movement she makes.” Dragon gave a soft nod. “Understood, boss.” “And double the guards at our hideout.” I gestured toward the bush path behind me. “Make sure she never goes near that place. No matter what.” Dragon’s expression remained unreadable, but his voice was firm. “I’ll handle it.” Good. I just brought in a fresh shipment of illegal goods and the profits are going to

Alex I clenched my jaw, my grip tightening around my phone as I pressed it against my ear. "Still nothing?" I asked, my voice laced with frustration. "No, boss. There is no sign of her," the voice on the other end replied. I slammed the phone onto my desk, breathing heavily. Three days. It has been three fucking days since I last heard from Sonia. The last time I went to her house, she told me she had stepped out. But I knew she was lying because I heard her phone ringing inside when I called but I didn’t push further, thinking she needed space. But now, after three days of not hearing from her, I felt I was going out of my mind. Where the hell is she? Is she safe? The sound of the door opening snapped me out of my thoughts. I raised my gaze and I saw my assistant, step in, his expression tense. "Sir," he greeted with a bow. I barely acknowledged him as my mind was still clouded with the thoughts of Sonia. "Have you seen the news?" he asked hesitantly. I shot h

Alex"Someone's coming," Kelvin whispered urgently. "Don't call me again. Just text me if you want to speak with me." I nodded, though he couldn't see me. "Got it. Keep an eye on Jay. I'll text you later." The call ended. I leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling, my mind spinning. Jay is inside Daniel’s hideout. That bastard is keeping Sonia’s son as leverage, forcing her into a marriage she never wanted. My jaw clenched. I have to get Jay out before Daniel does something to him. I stood up from my chair and walked over to the window. The city lights stretched far and wide, casting a warm glow over the city but all I could think about was the little boy trapped in that monster’s den. "Hmm..." A sharp sigh left my lips as I moved to my desk and poured myself a drink. The liquid burned down my throat but it did nothing to ease the storm raging inside me. This is my chance, my opportunity to prove to Sonia that I love her... That I cared for her and Jay more t

Alex"We needed to leave now!" I yelled out, holding Jay's hand. Jay’s small hand trembled in mine and I could feel his fear. I glanced around the dimly lit room, searching for another way out. The only exit is the door but going through it meant running straight into Daniel’s men. Just then, my eyes landed on the window. I smirked. "Perfect." Wasting no time, I rushed to it and smashed the glass with my elbow. The shards scattered but I ignored the sting on my skin. I climbed through first, landing on the ground below. "Pass him to me," I whispered to Kelvin. Kelvin lifted Jay and carefully handed him over before jumping down himself. The detective followed right after. We barely had time to catch our breath before we heard voices. "There they are!" I turned just in time to see two guards pointing at us. They raised their guns but the detective was faster. He pulled out his pistol and fired. Both men dropped instantly. "Move!" I ordered. We sprinted toward the back

AlexI carried Jay to my room and gently placed him on the bed. His small body was still weak but at least he is safe now. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialed the number of one of the boutique managers. “I need a full set of clothes for a boy around five to six years old,” I said. “Make sure they’re comfortable. Deliver them to my mansion within twenty minutes.” “Yes, sir,” the manager responded quickly. I ended the call and turned back to Jay. As I reached to pull off his tattered clothes, his eyes fluttered open. He looked around in confusion before his gaze settled on me. “Where am I?” he asked, his voice small but steady. “You’re at my house,” I said gently. His shoulders relaxed and he let out a small sigh of relief. “What about my mom?” “She’s fine,” I reassured him. Jay nodded, then glanced at his dirty clothes. “I can take care of myself,” he said with a small smile. I couldn’t help but smile back. Despite everything he has been through, he is s

SoniaMy blood boiled with rage as I stared into Céline’s shocked eyes. “How dare you touch my son with your filthy hands?!” I snapped, my voice trembling with rage. Quickly, I pulled Jay into my arms, shielding him from her touch. Céline continued staring at me, her face frozen in shock as if she had just seen a ghost. Finally, she blinked, coming back to her senses. “Is… is this your son?” she asked, her voice filled with disbelief. “Yes, he is my son and don’t you dare lay a finger on him again,” I said, glaring at her. The memories of Ethan with Céline flooded my mind, tightening the knot of anger in my chest. She was the reason Ethan and I separated, the reason my life crumbled years ago an now, she's here again, standing before me, daring to touch my child. The mere sight of her made my hatred for her grow stronger. Céline let out a mocking chuckle, snapping me out of my thoughts. “So, you’re the mother of this little brat?” she scoffed, looking down at Jay with d

SoniaI sighed, feeling a little guilty as Jay stomped his feet on the floor while heading upstairs. His small shoulders were slumped in disappointment and I knew he wasn’t happy about being sent away. I turned to Ethan and gave him an apologetic look. “Uh… I’m sorry about that.” Ethan’s gaze lingered on Jay for a moment before he looked at me with a small smile. I could see he wasn't happy about it either. “It’s nothing. I know it must be something very important.” I swallowed hard, suddenly feeling nervous. He is not wrong. What I wanted to discuss with him is important, it's something that has been on my mind for days now. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself and cleared my throat. “I wanted to talk to you about two things.” Ethan nodded, leaning back in his chair. “Go ahead.” I hesitated for a second before speaking. “It’s about Jay’s school.” Ethan’s expression grew serious. “What about it?” “I’m no longer comfortable with him going there after what happened,”

EthanThe next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. Today is important as I have a crucial meeting at the office that needs my presence. After freshening up and dressing in a crisp black suit, I picked up my briefcase and was about to leave when my thoughts drifted to Tina. I haven't seen her since yesterday after she stormed out of my room. I tried calling her multiple times but she never picked up. Something was wrong and I needed to find out what. Instead of heading straight to the dining room, I turned toward her room and knocked on the door. “Who is it?” her voice came from inside, cold and distant. “It’s me,” I said. There was a brief silence before she let out a sharp hiss. “Go away.” I sighed, resting my forehead against the door. “Tina, please open the door. Let’s talk.” “No,” she snapped. “I don’t want to see you.” "What is going on Tina? Talk to me?" "I don't want to see you!" Her words stung but I refused to push further. Letting out a frustrated br

Sonia I clenched my fists, trying to steady my breathing. I have made up my mind that Caro has to leave but then Jay’s small hands tugged at mine, his big, tear-filled eyes looking up at me with desperation. “Please, Mommy… Don’t send Aunty Caro away. Please forgive her.” I looked at Jay shocked, I never knew he was crying. My heart twisted. Jay is now used to her. I swallowed hard, my anger clashing with the pain in my son’s voice. I turned to Caro, who was still on her knees, sobbing uncontrollably. I wanted to scream at her, to remind her how badly she had failed me but looking at Jay, I felt my resolve waver. With a deep sigh, I closed my eyes and exhaled slowly. “Fine.”Caro gasped, lifting her head in shock. “Ma’am?”I glared at her. “You can stay.”Her lips trembled, her hands gripping the hem of her dress as if she couldn’t believe what I had just said. “But listen carefully,” I continued, my voice cold. “This mistake must never happen again. SoniaAs I drove into the compound, my hands were still shaking on the steering wheel. My heart pounded against my ribs and my mind raced with fear. Was that really Daniel? Could he still be alive?I parked the car hastily and got out, glancing around as though expecting to see someone lurking in the shadows. My only concern right now is Jay. I need to make sure my son is safe.I rushed to the front door and knocked. Within seconds, Caro opened the door with a bright smile. "Welcome back, ma'am..."I ignored her greetings. "Where’s Jay?" My voice slightly trembled but filled with urgency as I stepped inside. Caro blinked in surprise but quickly recovered. "He’s eating.""Mommy!" Jay’s voice rang from the dining room, and before I could turn, he ran straight into my arms. A deep sigh of relief escaped my lips as I hugged him tightly. His little arms wrapped around my waist, grounding me in a way nothing else could. I pulled back slightly, cupping his face. "Are you okay?" H

SoniaI looked up and to my surprise, Alex walked in, a charming smile on his handsome face and a bouquet of fresh lilies in his hand. I blinked in astonishment. "How did he know I was in the office today?" "Good morning, beauty," Alex teased as he strode toward me with a smile. I shook my head with a small laugh. "Good morning, Alex."Tara, who stood beside me, quickly bowed in greeting. "Good morning, sir." Alex acknowledged her with a slight nod before turning his full attention back to me. "I’m really happy to see you back at work," he said warmly. "The whole office has missed you so much." Then, he extended the bouquet toward me. "I got these for you. Thought they might brighten your day." A smile tugged at my lips as I took the flowers from him. He always knows how to put a smile on my face.I lifted the bouquet closer and inhaled deeply. The soft, sweet scent of lavender, my favorite, filled my senses. My heart warmed at the kind gesture. I glanced up at Alex, curio

SoniaThe warm sunlight that shone through the window pulled me up from sleep. I yawned, stretching my limbs before slowly sitting up. I glanced at the clock, it was 8 AM. I didn't mean to sleep this long but after everything that has happened, being back home felt like a relief. I just realized that no matter what, there is no place like home. Suddenly, the door burst open and Jay ran inside, his face lighting up with a bright smile. "Good morning, Mommy!" he greeted, wrapping his little arms around me. I hugged him back, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Good morning, baby. Did you sleep well?" Jay nodded with a smile. "Yes! But, Mommy, I’m late for school!" He grabbed my hand, urgency in his voice. "I haven’t been to school for long and I miss my friends!"My heart ached when I heard him. I knew Jay loved his school so much but after everything that happened, I couldn’t let him go back there again even though the school has reached out to me, apologizing for what happened b

Sonia I folded the last of Jay’s clothes into his small bag and glanced at him. “Did you pack everything?”Jay grinned. “Yes! But Daddy’s things are still here.”I chuckled. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”Finally, we were going home. I was relieved when the doctor told us Ethan would be discharged this evening. It felt like years since I last stepped into our home and I couldn't wait to return. Caro must be sick with worry by now. I sighed. If only I had memorized her number, I would have called her sooner. Oh! Did I mention that Ethan bought me a phone? Yes, he surprised me with the latest model and not just that, somehow, he managed to retrieve my old line, the one Daniel had destroyed. I still don’t know how he did it, but it left me speechless. These past few days with Ethan had shown me a side of him I never thought existed. A soft, caring, thoughtful side. I couldn’t deny that I enjoyed it and Jay, he was the happiest I had ever seen him. His laughter had filled

EthanIt has been a week since I was admitted to the hospital and to be honest, I loved every second of it as It brought me closer to Sonia and Jay. These past few days have been the happiest days of my life. I got to see Sonia’s soft side again, the way she cared for me, the gentle touch of her hands, the warmth in her eyes when she thought I wasn’t looking and it made me realize how I have been a fool to let her go. I glanced beside me and saw them sleeping peacefully. Jay was curled up between us, his tiny fingers still gripping my shirt even in his sleep. Sonia lay beside him, her face turned slightly toward me. Even in sleep, she still looks beautiful. Her long hair spread across the pillow, her lips slightly parted, her breathing slow and steady and the soft glow of the early morning light made her features look even more delicate. I felt my chest tighten. God, I love her so much. Jay mumbled something in his sleep, shifting closer to Sonia. I smiled, brushing his hair
