The saying that death brings people closer is accurate. Julien is a prime example because after he found out that his Father had lung cancer, the shift he experienced was dramatic.

As much as he liked to believe that he hated his Father, it simply wasn’t so. He just couldn’t afford to lose another family member.

His brothers; are gone.

His mother; six feet deep in.

The thought of his Father dying felt as though he was getting stabbed with a dagger repeatedly on the same spot.

“You don’t have to be here you know, son.”

Julien rolled his eyes at his Father,” Don’t start with me, Father.”

An amused laugh slid past Armand’s lips. “If I knew that all I needed to do to get your attention was fall sick I would’ve-“

“Fuck Father, do you have to make a joke about everything?”

Armand snorts, “Of course I do, I’m not dead yet.”

Julien’s jaw hardens and his glare turns icy. He doesn’t spare his Father another glance as they await the doctor. Not long after, the door to the consulting room
