34. Why did she do it?

VICTOR....

I stared at her, unable to move. She was slowly backing away from me and turned around. "You must leave, Victor. You shouldn't have come here in the first place."

Does she know the consequences of leaving her alone? She might not, but I do, and there is no way I'll leave her here in this prison.

"I won't, Bellatrix. Come with me," I said firmly. She should trust me for the sake of those times when I saved her.

She froze at my answer and turned to me. "Why are you being stubborn? Just leave, Victor." Anguish enveloped her voice, and fear sparked in her gaze. "They'll hurt you! I'm their daughter, and they did not bother about me, so think about what they will do to you! So, it's better for you to leave, Victor."

I don't know whether to appreciate her bravado or scold her for her foolishness. Slowly, I approached her. This time she did not move, but her eyes were begging me to leave. I always liked this about her—her eyes are so expressive.

"I won't leave without you,"
