Chapter 2

It's been a few weeks since Stephan's rejection, and these past few weeks have been way worse than anything she's ever experienced. Everything Stephan ordered to be carried out on her has been done in ten folds, despite them having workers in the pack, she was being made to do almost everything, leaving her super exhausted by the end of the day. Stephan also hasn't stopped to sexually and physically abuse her, even though he's rejected her.

For weeks, all Jasmine could do was cry as she didn't have anyone who would stand up for her, nor anyone who would rescue her from this torment and torture she's been made to go through every single day.

She was currently sitting outside the pack house washing the pack member's clothes when she suddenly felt nauseous. Jasmine immediately stood up and went to throw up, literally vomiting the little breakfast she had earlier. After throwing up, she stood up and wanted to return to her chores, but then she felt nauseous again and threw up for the second time.

Jasmine placed her hand on her forehead; she was already burning up. Lately, she's been feeling sick, randomly throwing up, getting easily irritated and also having headaches once in a while. She couldn't tell what was wrong with her because she hasn't had the chance to go visit the pack doctor, but now that she really wants to find out what's happening to her, she puts it at the back of her mind to go visit the pack doctor when she is done with her chores.

****

Jasmine finally managed to complete all her chores, and to say she was tired was an understatement, she felt like she could collapse at any moment. She was currently resting in her room, and she could only pray that no one comes to bother her because if she's made to do any work, there's no doubt she would pass out from exhaustion. Luckily for her, she hasn't vomited again after throwing up earlier.

Even though she was so tired, she forced herself to get up so she could go see the doctor; the earlier she knows what's happening to her, the better. If she has a chronic illness, then she hopes that's the thing that kills her because she's so tired of living this miserable life, she has no one and nothing to live for. Her existence means nothing and If she dies, no one would bat an eye, not even Stephan.

On her way to the pack doctor's office, Jasmine made sure that she was careful to not be seen by anyone because the last thing she needs is having this news getting to Stephan.

When she arrived at the pack doctor's office, she gently knocked on her door, waited until she heard a “come in” before going inside, and she was thankful that there was no one else with the lady.

“Jasmine.” The pack doctor instantly stood up from her chair. “Oh dear, it's been ages since I last saw you.” The woman went to hug her.

Because she was well aware of what Jasmine has been through, she treated her differently from everyone else, she was the only person in the entire pack who wasn't mean to her; who didn't hate her.

“How have you been?” She asked, gently taking Jasmine's hand and helping her sit down.

“I'm well, Mrs. Monroe.” Jasmine lied, a small smile placed on her lips. Even though Mrs. Monroe was nice to her, she really wasn't comfortable being there. Everything that's happened to her made her so terrified of being around anyone because she believes they would harm her in some kind of way. She was traumatized by her experience, and that has made her cherish her privacy so much that she has so much difficulty being around people.

“I don't feel well.” Jasmine started because the sooner she gets checked, the better. At least she'll be able to leave here quickly.

Mrs. Monroe went to take a seat, giving Jasmine her undivided attention. “Alright, dear. Please explain what's going on to me. How do you feel?'' She asked, and Jasmine explained what's been happening to her body these past few weeks.

By the time Jasmine was done, Mrs. Monroe could already diagnose her because her symptoms weren't new to her.

“When last did you have your period, Jasmine?” She asked.

Jasmine furrowed her brow as she thought about it, and that's when she realized that she didn't even get her period last month, but because of everything going on in her life, it slipped her mind.

“I… I can't remember.” She stuttered. “But I'm pretty sure I didn't get it last month, and I think it's probably because I've been so stressed out, that's why it's been delayed.”

Mrs. Monroe smiled in understanding. “No dear.” She shook her head. “The delay has nothing to do with stress….” She heaved a deep breath before breaking the news to her.

“You're pregnant, Jasmine. That's why you've been having those symptoms, it's all signs of pregnancy.”

Jasmine's heart literally skipped when she heard those words. “W…what?” She stuttered. “I… I'm pregnant?” She asked. Mrs. Monroe nodded.

“Yes, Jasmine. You're pregnant.” She confirmed.

Jasmine's hands dropped to her side and she leaned into her chair; a wave of grief washed over her. This should have been good news, she should be happy about this, but instead of feeling happiness, she felt so much pain and fear. If Stephan were to find out about this, he's definitely going to make her lose this pregnancy, like he had done with her previous pregnancies.

Tears began streaming down her cheeks as the memories of her previous miscarriages flashed through her mind, and all were due to Stephan's beating each time he found out she was pregnant. He would make sure to beat her up and that would cause her to lose her baby.

She slowly placed her hand on her stomach. “I'm so sorry.” She apologized to the child she was carrying in her womb. “It's all my fault for being weak. I apologize for having to bring you to this cruel world. I'm so sorry, baby.” She whispered, crying bitterly.

“Jasmine?” Mrs. Monroe called softly, worry and concern written all over her face.

Jasmine thought hard about what she was going to do. She knew she couldn't afford to lose this pregnancy again. She can't afford to let Stephan find out and lose her baby this time. No! She's not going to let him have his way because she's going to protect the child in her womb with her life. If she were to lose this baby, then she would commit suicide because that would be the last straw of everything she can take.

The only way to save herself and her child is to leave this pack, and that she will do with no hesitation. For this baby, she's willing to risk it all to make sure she carries this child to full term and birth this baby.

She now has something to live for; her miracle baby because this baby has brought hope to her life and given her something to fight for, something to want to live for. She suddenly felt a wave of energy coursing through her body.

Before leaving the pack doctor's office, Jasmine went on her knees and begged her to keep her pregnancy a secret from everyone, most especially Stephan. Already knowing what would happen if Stephan were to find out about her pregnancy, the pack doctor promised to keep her secret and wished her luck in anything she does.

Jasmine thanked her profusely before leaving her office.

When she got outside, she placed her hand on her stomach and made a promise to her child.

“I will fight for you this time…”

“This is a mother's promise to her child.”
