Zelena.
Deciding to change the subject, in the hopes of gathering my thoughts, I lifted my head from his chest and peered up at him.
“Are you going to tell me what happened in here?” I asked while looking right into his eyes. His Adams-apple bobbed as he swallowed,
“What do you mean?” he mumbled,
“I mean why was Tobias about to tear the head off of that Luna Eclipse she-wolf?”
“Oh” Gunner replied. His eye twitched a little as he flew them around the room, looking at everything but me.
“Gunner?” I questioned more firmly.
“The moment she touched you, you hit the deck. We didn’t know what happened to you, so of course our first thought was that she did something. I didn’t know that you were with the Moon Goddess, I didn’t know it was just a coincidence. I thought she stabbed you or something. Tobias was quick to grab her, you know how fast he is. By the time I realised you were fine, just unconscious, he already had her by the thr
So Gunner has decded not to tell Zelena about her birth mother. Do you think he is in the wrong? Or is he right to keep it from her? Let me know what you think.
Zelena.I woke up in the morning to an empty bed. Gunner’s usual spot was cold, so he’s been up for a while. I pulled the blanket off my body to see I was wearing one of Gunner’s t-shirts and a lacey thong. He changed my clothes, how did I not wake up for that? I must have been more tired than I thought I was. I dragged my tired body off the bed and went into the bathroom. After I finished my business, I pulled on a pair of denim shorts and headed downstairs. I could hear talking coming from the kitchen, so I went there first. As I pushed open the door, my eyes immediately went to the large plate overflowing with crispy bacon. I rushed forward and grabbed a fistful of bacon and pushed it into my already salivating mouth.“Yeh, sure, help yourself” a voice teased from the breakfast nook. I turned around to see Gunner sitting with a smirking Nat and a red-faced Smith.“Sorry” I mumbled with bits of bacon spitting from my m
Zelena. The sky was a clear crystal blue and the bright sunlight twinkled on the top of the water. Coming to the beach was a fantastic idea. I wanted time to just relax and hang out with my friends, even if Cole was still a no show. The soft white sand felt great under my feet. I curled my toes and dug them under the sand. Smith and Nat dropped the esky and picnic basket and laid out some towels. I sat down on the edge of a towel and buried my feet into the sand. Smith stripped down to his swim shorts and Nat slid her dress down her body and let it drop at her feet. She was wearing a skimpy black string bikini that sat high up on her hips and barely covered her breasts. But hot damn does she have a banging body. Watching her I felt a little self-conscious. She is gorgeous, like a swimsuit model. Gunner stood at my side and pulled his shirt over his head before dropping it on the towel behind me. “You coming in?” he asked looking down at me, “Not yet, I want t
Lunaya.“Touch me again and it will be the last time you have hands” Cleo growled at the young redhead. We were escorted back to the tent where we were right away surrounded on all sides. We could fight our way out, but that wouldn't solve anything and where would we go once we’re out? Fighting at this point would just complicate everything.“What happened?” hissed Elaine quietly,“I don’t know” I whisper yelled back. I don’t know why we are whispering, the guards outside could all hear us anyways. Alyse came to my side and pulled me down to sit beside her on a cot. She wrapped an arm around my waist and lifted one of my hands to lay on her lap. It was a good attempt at comforting me, but had no impact. Elaine’s furious frame loomed over me as she stood in front of Alyse and I. Cleo was standing in the far corner of the tent, watching on as usual. Venus and Phoebe sat on a cot opposite us, both of them
Lunaya. “Because I thought she was dead!” I screamed, standing to my full height, only inches from his face. “I looked! I searched for years, for any kind of sign that she was alive. I looked at each and every corpse of my fallen pack mates, I searched every burned-out house and every pile of bodies. I looked!” I was screaming in his face. My body was alive with emotions, grief, guilt and rage. “They were hunters! How was I meant to know that they kept her alive? How dare you accuse me of giving up, how dare you accuse me of coming after her power. She is my child. I never gave up. I mourned for my family every single day”. I hadn’t realised that I was being held back by Alyse and Elaine. If it weren’t for them, I would have lunged at the kid. My claws were out and my teeth had descended. He watched me with a stoic expression, but his eyes held the truth, he was surprised by my outburst. Tears streamed down my face in hot waves of painful memories. Th
Lunaya.“I think you’re being irrational” Alyse snapped at me. We had been going around in circles having the same argument all morning.“I’m not being irrational, I'm trying to do the right thing” I groaned once again.“How is that the right thing?” Alyse yelled. She was pacing back and forth in front of me as I sat on a fallen tree. After our talk with Gunner last night and the revelation about Zelena and her relationship with Selene, I agreed to keep my distance. Alyse however thinks I'm being stupid and that I'm just scared of her rejecting me in favour of Selene. I mean, she’s not wrong, but she isn’t totally right either. Gunner told me very little about her upbringing at the hands of that filthy hunter. I don’t know the details, but enough to know that her childhood was hell. She deserves this time, to bask in the newfound joyous relationship. Even if I am jealous, even if I wish it was me
Lunaya. My eyes fluttered open and I flew upright on the bed. I’m in a bedroom, not the tent, and I’m alone. I grabbed my neck but the wound was gone, completely healed over. Meaning I have been here for at least a few hours. I have been dressed in a large black t-shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants. I stood up and walked out of the bedroom door, I headed down a hallway and to a large staircase. At the bottom of the staircase was the foyer, the only part of this huge house that I recognised. I focused my hearing and heard a scurry of voices coming from a door on the left, Alyse’s voice was one of them. I pushed the door open, and all eyes turned to me. Beta Cole, Alyse, Elaine, Phoebe, Romeá, her Mate Lupus, the she-wolf Faylene and a warrior whose name I hadn’t learnt yet, all stood looking at me. “Hello” I said awkwardly, “Nae, you’re alright?” Alyse asked as she stepped forward and placed her small hands on my cheeks. I put my hands over hers and smiled,
Zelena.I stared at Alpha Galterio. He is quite handsome. Thick dark hair and large brown eyes, creamy tanned skin that stretched over his taunt muscles. He’s a big Were, a little intimidating as well, but I don’t know if that is because of his size or the power that he exudes. Freedom to all Were-kind. That’s what he said. How are we not already free? Is he talking about the scourge of the hunters? They are and always will be a threat to the Weres, but their numbers are unknown. How could we defeat them if we don’t know where they are, or how many of them are out there. He stood watching me as I tried to understand the message behind his statement. I don’t want to like him, he is cocky and arrogant, but there is something else there. Something that seems genuine, maybe. I really don’t know about this. I don’t want to trust him, but my damn stomach, it is reaching out for him.“What does that mean?” I asked him caut
Zelena. For the first time ever, I am afraid of Gunner. “Please” I cried, continuing to wiggle around. He didn’t answer me, just watched me cry and thrash in his deathly grip. This wasn’t my Gunner. My Gunner was loving, and caring, and gentle. Whoever this Were is, he’s rough and callous, and downright terrifying. His anger dance through my veins, trying to seduce me to the darkness, but I fought against it. The growl that rumbled through his chest was enough to put a stop to my thrashing. I looked up to his dark and dangerous eyes. Tears blurred my vision, but the rage on his face was clear. “Gunner, stop it, please” I pleaded. But it was no use. There was no getting through to him, not like this. Tobias is too far away to flash for help, and Gunner is the only other person I have flashed with. I don’t know what to do, I can’t use my powers on him. Not again. Not after the last time. I looked over Gunner’s shoulder and saw Smith and Nat standing together fu
Zelena. With my head on Tobias’s chest and the warmth of his body washing over me, his steady heartbeat was slowly lulling me to sleep. That peace was broken when a group of wolves came running through the village, stopping at the bottom of the porch steps. I stood up and walked to the railing, only for Tobias to push me behind him and growl down at the gathered wolves. The largest of the group, a brownish orange wolf, changed form and stood up. I recognise this guy, he’s the same age as Gunner and me, and a friend of Gunner’s. He had been making his way up in the ranks over the past few months. Daniel, I think his name is. I stepped around Tobias and looked down at the muscular Were. His blonde hair sat in a shaggy mess of curls atop his head, and his dark hazel eyes looked back up at me. He was quite tall, with a slim frame sporting a lot of defined muscles. “You’re Daniel, right?” I asked him. He bowed his head and placed his hand over his heart. “
Epilogue.Zelena.My brain is ready to explode. Firstly, I find out that I'm pregnant, which of course I'm thrilled about now. Admittedly, I was terrified at first, but it’s hard to be scared when so many people around you are happy and excited. Their excitement has rubbed off on me. Roe has already started arranging a Litter Party, which is apparently like a baby shower. She hasn’t let me see it, but I know she is working on a nursery as well. Nat has been a constant at my side. Always happy to talk babies and throwing ridiculous baby names at me. Something is going on with Nat, I can’t put my finger on it yet. She has been avoiding talking about herself, which is weird and alarming all on its own. Each time I try to talk about her, she swings the topic back around to me or babies. Maybe she is just lonely, with Smith taking on most of the Beta duties, he is barely around. I understand if that’s what is bothering her, I miss him too. Smith is m
Lunaya.“You’re pregnant” I blurted out.Zelena choked and sat up straight. Her wide eyes finding mine immediately.“Excuse me?” she squeaked. Gunner snaked his arm further around her waist and pulled her into him closer. A protective and possessive motion. Something I remember all too well with Micha. His protective instincts increased tenfold. He was a warrior, so he was already very protective. But the second he could sense hispup,he wouldn’t let anyone get close to me without a warning growl. Gunner’s an Alpha, so his instincts would be higher still.
Lunaya.Alyse and I were huddled in the corner booth, stuffing our faces with bread and lukewarm stew. Alyse had her legs draped over mine so that she was nearly in my lap. I had a piece of bread hanging between my teeth as I waved it in front of Alyse’s mouth. She chuckled and snapped her teeth at the bread, pulling it from my mouth. I laughed and grabbed either side of her face, I pulled her to me and pressed my lips to her cheek. The kitchen door flew open and in walked Gunner with Zelena in his arms. She had her arms and legs wrapped around him like a koala. Alyse and I went silent as we watched them enter. Gunner paused and flicked his eyes to mine. He quickly looked to Alyse and then down at the bowls in front of us, before continuing on into the kitchen. I sat up straight, expecting that he would put Zelena down so I could see her. But instead, he kept one arm under her backside and carried her with him to the fridge. Zelena had her head nuzzled into the crook of
Lunaya.I left Zelena to rest and went in search of Alyse. No doubt she is tending to the injured Weres. As I made my way outside, I found the clearing filled with bandaged and bloodied Weres. Most of them were up and about, walking around or sitting and talking. Some, however, were laid out on stretcher beds, in far worse shape. A few tables had been set up with some she-wolves serving food to the warriors. I spotted Alyse flittering between two stretcher beds and made my way to her.“Can I help?” I asked. I stepped up behind her as she was wiping the blood from a she-wolfs face. Alyse jumped with a squeak and turned around, I’d startled her. I smiled and she sighed.“No love, you need to rest as well. Go get yourself something to eat, I will join you shortly” she squeezed my forearm with a soft smile on her beautiful face, before turning back to the she-wolf. I looked around and spotted Ares sitting with his sister on some large l
Lunaya. That fucking Origin Alpha. He tried to force her to be his Mate. Not the first time a descendant of Gill has tried to blend the bloodlines. The fucker already had a Mate and heir, plus Zelena has a destined Mate. What idiot told him that it would work. Oh, let me guess that fool of a Prophet. Fucking bastards. Artemis thought she had to choose between two mates, and so they tried to force her hand. Those damned idiots! My anger flared and before I got the chance to compose myself, I slammed my fist into the tiled wall. The tiles cracked and shattered at the force of my punch and then clattered to the floor. Tobias looked at me with a quirked eyebrow, “You already know?” he said. “Yeh, I already know. The Origin Alpha, right? That fucking treacherous line of egotistical morons. Gill’s descendants have been trying to snag a daughter of Selena for generations. Came close at one point, but they never succeeded in joining the lines” I snarled. “Com
Lunaya. The trip back to Tri-Moon was dismal. All of Lua Chei, apart from Analah, Ares and four others, went back to their pack lands. Alpha Travis bid farewell and left for Waning Wolf with his warriors. Tobias insisted that his brother, Alpha Marius, went back home. They argued over it for a while, but Tobias won, and his brother went back to their pack. Alpha Lace however, he refused to go home. He sent his men and Beta back, keeping only three Weres with him. He was very insistent on coming back to Tri-Moon, and I am very curious as to why.Tobias and Gunner were very tight-lipped about what ever happened out there. All they said was that the Origin Alpha murdered Cole, and then they killed him in return. As for Zelena and her unconscious state, they said that she depleted her energy fighting off the Alpha. I could tell they were lying. Zelena is a Triple Goddess. It would have weakened her, but not to this extent. Something else happened. And I'll be dammed if the
Zelena. “It’s my fault. I sent my brother to die” Gunner cried and squeezed his arms. My chest constricted under his hold, and I couldn’t take a full breath. But my concern was for my pup. His arms were crushing me under the weight of his guilt, and our pup along with it. I tapped on his head to let me go but my signal didn’t register. *Gunner, you’re crushing our pup* I flashed him in a strained tone. He immediately shot himself back, flying his body off the bed and across the room. He held his hands out in front of him, like he was trying to show me he wouldn’t hurt me. The same way he did on the day I first changed. I know he won't hurt me on purpose. What is this about? “I’m sorry, I'm sorry. I didn’t mean to, I swear it” he rushed out as his eyes swept down my body. A look of shame and disgust filled his eyes. But I could still feel him, his emotions and tho
Zelena. “Mother?” I said meekly. “Yes, daughter of mine” Selene answered me. “You’re Selene, the Moon Goddess?” Gunner stated obviously. She turned her angry eyes to him and nodded. Gunner dropped to the ground on his hands and knees with his head pressed into the dirt. Tobias huffed and shook his head. “Too late for that don’t you think? You've already insulted and disrespected her” he grumbled. “Stand up boy” Selene snapped. Gunner shot back up to his feet immediately. He stood with his hands at his side and his head facing down. “Mother, what are you doing here?” I asked her, stepping forward. “I had no choice. I won’t stand back and watch you destroy yourselves. You are meant for more than that” she hissed harshly. I lowered my head as I filled with shame. She's mad. I made her mad. “I... I'm sorry” I said softly. A tear ran down my cheek as I looked back up at her. Her pale white eyes gazed back at me sadly. She wa
