Zelena fights with her feelings towards her new-found mother, all the while struggling with the stress that being pregnant brings. Life takes a turn for the worst when a new and more dangerous threat emerges from the shadows, pushing Gunner to his limits and testing the strength of the bond that Zelena and Gunner share. As more secrets are revealed, Zelena's understanding of right and wrong, duty and choice, good and evil, all collide in a fiery blaze.
------------------------------------------------------
I've dealt with a lot up until this point. I'm proud to say that through it all, I've not broken. All my life I've known pain. I've grown up on it. Lived it, learnt it, tasted it. I know pain. I have been pushed to the furthest limits imaginable. Both in mind and body. And I've still not broken. I am stronger because of how far I have been pushed. I have endured and survived more than anyone else possibly could. I have been molded into the ultimate weapon, created from pain to cause havoc. I am the shadow in the dark, the monster under the bed. I am the bringer of death. Nothing could ever break me. But this... This is unlike anything else that I have endured before. This is beyond the point of physical pain and mental torture. This is worse. This could break me.

Chapter: Epilogue Part 2Zelena. Gunner’s arms came around my stomach and he leaned his chin on my shoulder. “You okay?” he asked softly. “I’m good” I answered and reached up to tap his cheek. He turned his face and kissed the palm of my hand. “You were crying again” he said, like I hadn’t already known that. “Well, pregnant ladies cry, Mighty Alpha” I quipped and turned to face him with a smirk. He didn’t answer me right away, just gazed down at me. “You sure you’re alright?” he asked more gently. He cupped my cheek and I leaned into his touch. “I’m fine. Thinking of Cole and Tobias just makes me sad sometimes”. Gunner smiled sadly and ran his thumb over the corner of my mouth. “Me too” he said softly before leaning in to press a soft kiss to my waiting lips. “I love you” I said looking up into his beautiful blue eyes. “I love you more” he smiled back. “It’s not a competition” I grumbled and pinched his peck. He laughed and rubbed at the spot. “It’s not. There's just more of

Chapter: Epilogue Part 1Zelena. Grief is difficult. It's a hard feeling to navigate. With the addition of my bouts of guilt and regret, I wasn’t sure I was ever going to find my way through it. If I’m honest, I’m still working my way through it. Every new day is different from the last. It's strange really. One day I will be fine, filled with happiness and joy, enjoying my family and my life. The next, something as simple as hearing the term ‘Little One’ will set me off on hours of crying and wishing for things to be different. Grief is weird. It's true when people say that you never actually get over the pain, you just learn to live with it. Not being alone with my pain is a huge help. Gunner and I are both working through our grief. Everyone is really. Losing Cole, Tobias, and Aurora. Plus, Cleo and all the other fighters that sacrificed their lives. Those losses hit us all really hard. Even with all that loss, we’ve gained a lot as well. Thanks to Aurora, the hunters are basically extinct. A special t

Chapter: Chapter 105 - The EndWhiskey. “I know” Zelena whispered with a slight nod of her head. She pushed her other arm forward with her palm facing me. A wave of energy hit me, like a truck hitting a mountain at top speed. My entire body jolted with the force, down to the tiniest atom. The air was stolen from my lungs and my vision went black. I felt like a giant hand was inside my body, pulling it apart piece by piece. The pain was incredible. I could feel every part of myself being torn to shreds. I tried to scream, but no sound came. I tried to fight, but my body was no longer under my control. This must be what death feels like. I can’t imagine it being anything else. There was a pressure inside my chest, like something was pulling it open. It built and built, tearing and ripping at my essence. It was almost too much, I was ready to give in to it. After all that I have endured, and all the pain that has been inflicted on my body over my lifetime, I still kept fighting. I was never worn down to the point of

Chapter: Chapter 104 - A DragonWhiskey. It was a fucking dragon. The glowing light dimmed, just enough for me to find a small human frame within the dragon's glow. It was Zelena. The dragon was with Zelena. How could this be possible? “Whiskey” a voice called out. I took a step back as I looked up at the beast. Dragons aren’t real, I told myself. Plus, this dragon was odd. It wasn’t a physical being. Its face, its wings, its body, it was all made out of light. I could see the electrical currents tethering all the pieces together. Almost like it was made of pure energy. “Whiskey” the voice called again. It came from both Zelena and the dragon, almost like they spoke at the same time, in the same voice. I stumbled back a few more steps, but Zelena and the dragon just kept coming. “You’re reign of death is over” the dragon called. This is unexpected. But I’ve never quit before, and I sure as shit won’t be starting today. I steadied my feet and squared my shoulders. I summoned another icicle sword, now holding

Chapter: Chapter 103 - The Mighty AlphaWhiskey. I swung my arm towards Zelena, letting fly the spear of black ice. It got her in the upper right side of her chest, sending her flying back to the ground. A proud smile filled my face as another weapon materialized in my grip. I was about to hit her again when I was sent flying back through the air. I dropped the shard of ice and used my own power to cushion the landing. Gunner was poised and ready to attack. Zelena was still laying on the ground, I knew she was going to be easy to be rid of, just one hit and she was out. I pulled on that dark feeling inside me, tugging on the string of power that was in me now. Another icy shard appeared in my hand, and I hurled it toward Gunner. He dodged to the side, missing the spear, and then charged toward me. I didn’t even need to think about it now, the weapons just came to my hands as I thought of them. I leaned on my back foot and steadied my feet, then I hurled dagger after dagger at Gunner. One hit his shoulder, but it didn’t

Chapter: Chapter 102 - Face OffWhiskey. Tobias hit the deck like a sack of shit. A pulling sensation tugged at my heart. Like the shriveled piece of brown beef thumping in my chest was going to suddenly come to life and feel something for the big dumb oaf. Yeah right. Once he was down, the fighters that he waved away all charged at me in unison. Some shifted into their beasts, others tempted fate on their human legs. It didn’t really matter either way. They were all going to die by my hand one way or the other. I cut each of them down easily, and all the others that tried their luck with me. It appears these animals are just as dumb as all the other stupid dogs that I’ve fought. Never learning where they lay on the food chain. Never realising that they’re doomed from the moment they decide to fight against me. They’re all the same. Single minded, foolish animals. The fight had us slowly moving through the village, leaving a breadcrumb trail of bodies along the way. They just kept coming, one after the other. I

He pounded into my hot core, slamming my back against the tree with each thrust. I moaned and growled loudly while clawing at his back. His bare chest was right in front of my face and I couldn't stop myself, I lifted my mouth and sunk my teeth deeply into his flesh. He hissed and growled and slammed into me harder. The taste of his blood was intoxicating and made my head spin. He grabbed my hair and pulled my teeth off his skin and bent my head back to look at him. His blue eyes were dark and full of lust as a glint of silver flashed through them.

Chapter: EpilogueGunner It’s been three months now since the battle. Three months of helplessness and pain. Everyone is telling me to keep pushing on and to throw my all into leading the pack. But it’s hard, and it’s getting harder each day. Cole has been great with the pack, helping where he can. I appreciate everything he is doing but it’s just not right. I thought that I would have Zee beside me, helping me. I thought we were going to do this together. We lost thirty-six wolves in total. Two from Blue Moon and one from Crescent Wolf. A group service was arranged to bury our dead and a huge black marble boulder was brought in to hold a memorial placard. Mum and some other she-wolves arrange a garden area and small benches to surround the boulder, making a nice area to sit and mourn. I haven’t had the strength to go there yet, but I can see it through the trees from my office window. I find myself often staring at it mindlessly. Alpha Titus of Crescent Wolf

Chapter: Chapter 50 - The EndZelena.I am going to rip this piece of shit hunter to pieces. I threw forward my arm sending another hunter flying through the air. Tobias growled and snapped at the hunters, the heated fury coming from his body was only increasing my own anger. I was about to go for another hunter went I felt a presence in the clearing. A blur of dark grey fur ran into view and headed toward the fighters. Tobias’s head lifted and turned to the wolf and his ears pricked up, he knows this wolf. The wolf lunged onto a hunter and ripped his head clean off before grabbing hold of the next one. A muffled sound echoed over the humming gunfire and I searched for its source. My eyes landed on a sight that filled me pride and lust.Gunner’s knees wrapped around the hunter's head as he gracefully threw his body through the air, landing in a crouching position. My eyes snapped to the hunter in front of him, pointing his gun at Gunners face. I felt my skin burst into

Chapter: Chapter 49 -Family reunionZelena. After cutting the power to the pack house at the switch box, the village was now dark. A small glow from the direction of the driveway, told me that the loud bang I heard a few minutes ago was an explosion. I stood in the clearing that Gunner had marked out for me. Tobias stood next to me in his wolf form. Four of his fighters were surrounding us, also in their wolf form. I feel like I should change as well, but I haven’t used my power as a wolf yet. I don’t even know if I can. My best bet is to stay as human.A startled yelp escaped my lips when gunfire rang out around us. Shit, here we go. Tobias nudged his head against my shoulder.*I got you little one*I looked up at him wide eyed. He flashed me, how did he flash me.*We can flash?**I assumed as much, being your guardian and all that, we have to be able to communicate*

Chapter: Chapter 48 - ReportGunner. This is bad, Zelena needs help. I went to run for the house but the pain in my shoulder slowed me. Damn fucking bullet. I snapped my head back and changed back into my human form. I looked down at my bloodied shoulder. The skin was torn open and peeled back by seared flesh. It was dark red and still bleeding. It’ll be fine, worry about it later. I held my arm in place across my chest. The same large grey wolf came up beside me and held out its hind leg. He growled and huffed, nodding his head to the leg. I hadn’t noticed before but there were a pair of shorts tied to his ankle. Smart idea, I’ll have to remember that. I grabbed the shorts and pulled them on with one hand. We ran for the pack house side by side and I kept pace with this wolf no problem. As we neared the tree line, the ringing of gunfire at the house was indisputable. We burst through the trees and I could clearly

She flashed me pictures, I saw the hunters converging on the borders and an aerial view of forest around our village and the coast in the distance. She had another Drakos vision. Excellent. They were definitely closer than we predicted, they had to be only minutes away from the borders now.*Cole report**They are at the edge southern border, heavy weapons and high numbers of soldiers**How close?**Two minutes maybe less*An explosion, a loud bang and the sound of bursting tyres brought me out of my flash with Cole. This section of the forest was near on inaccessible, we have downed a few trees to make sure that nothing can get through”. Rex my eldest commander was pointing out the parts of the forest on the map as he spoke. He’s a great Were, strong and capable. It will be a hard hit to the pack the day that he retires. “I have traps set here and here for any incoming vehicles. More traps are set along this section of the border. The exterior of the pack house is secure and the village has been rigged here, here, here and here” Felix pointed out the cabins in the village and the other parts of the pack land. He has done very well in the limited amount of time he had. I like his initiative, his work ethic and his focus. He is a high contender for the top commander position after Rex. “I want Zelena to stay in the

The sound of a wailing child filled the air, piercing the inner corners of my ears. I couldn't move, it was like my body was concreted to the ground. Everything hurt. The intense pain burned through my veins, paralysing me. I lay helpless on the ground, dying slowly. My eyes gazing, at the retreating legs before me. I watched on powerlessly, until they were gone from my sight, vanishing between the snow-covered trees. Helplessness consumed me and I couldn't fight it any longer. The faint cries slipped away, until only the sound of the wind was left. My heavy eyelids slowly blinked closed and darkness fell over me.

Chapter: Epilogue 2Zelena. With my head on Tobias’s chest and the warmth of his body washing over me, his steady heartbeat was slowly lulling me to sleep. That peace was broken when a group of wolves came running through the village, stopping at the bottom of the porch steps. I stood up and walked to the railing, only for Tobias to push me behind him and growl down at the gathered wolves. The largest of the group, a brownish orange wolf, changed form and stood up. I recognise this guy, he’s the same age as Gunner and me, and a friend of Gunner’s. He had been making his way up in the ranks over the past few months. Daniel, I think his name is. I stepped around Tobias and looked down at the muscular Were. His blonde hair sat in a shaggy mess of curls atop his head, and his dark hazel eyes looked back up at me. He was quite tall, with a slim frame sporting a lot of defined muscles. “You’re Daniel, right?” I asked him. He bowed his head and placed his hand over his heart. “

Chapter: Epilogue 1Epilogue.Zelena.My brain is ready to explode. Firstly, I find out that I'm pregnant, which of course I'm thrilled about now. Admittedly, I was terrified at first, but it’s hard to be scared when so many people around you are happy and excited. Their excitement has rubbed off on me. Roe has already started arranging a Litter Party, which is apparently like a baby shower. She hasn’t let me see it, but I know she is working on a nursery as well. Nat has been a constant at my side. Always happy to talk babies and throwing ridiculous baby names at me. Something is going on with Nat, I can’t put my finger on it yet. She has been avoiding talking about herself, which is weird and alarming all on its own. Each time I try to talk about her, she swings the topic back around to me or babies. Maybe she is just lonely, with Smith taking on most of the Beta duties, he is barely around. I understand if that’s what is bothering her, I miss him too. Smith is m

Chapter: Chapter 104 - I'm your motherLunaya.“You’re pregnant” I blurted out.Zelena choked and sat up straight. Her wide eyes finding mine immediately.“Excuse me?” she squeaked. Gunner snaked his arm further around her waist and pulled her into him closer. A protective and possessive motion. Something I remember all too well with Micha. His protective instincts increased tenfold. He was a warrior, so he was already very protective. But the second he could sense hispup,he wouldn’t let anyone get close to me without a warning growl. Gunner’s an Alpha, so his instincts would be higher still.

Chapter: Chapter 103 - Midnight snackLunaya.Alyse and I were huddled in the corner booth, stuffing our faces with bread and lukewarm stew. Alyse had her legs draped over mine so that she was nearly in my lap. I had a piece of bread hanging between my teeth as I waved it in front of Alyse’s mouth. She chuckled and snapped her teeth at the bread, pulling it from my mouth. I laughed and grabbed either side of her face, I pulled her to me and pressed my lips to her cheek. The kitchen door flew open and in walked Gunner with Zelena in his arms. She had her arms and legs wrapped around him like a koala. Alyse and I went silent as we watched them enter. Gunner paused and flicked his eyes to mine. He quickly looked to Alyse and then down at the bowls in front of us, before continuing on into the kitchen. I sat up straight, expecting that he would put Zelena down so I could see her. But instead, he kept one arm under her backside and carried her with him to the fridge. Zelena had her head nuzzled into the crook of

Chapter: Chapter 102 - Around the fireLunaya.I left Zelena to rest and went in search of Alyse. No doubt she is tending to the injured Weres. As I made my way outside, I found the clearing filled with bandaged and bloodied Weres. Most of them were up and about, walking around or sitting and talking. Some, however, were laid out on stretcher beds, in far worse shape. A few tables had been set up with some she-wolves serving food to the warriors. I spotted Alyse flittering between two stretcher beds and made my way to her.“Can I help?” I asked. I stepped up behind her as she was wiping the blood from a she-wolfs face. Alyse jumped with a squeak and turned around, I’d startled her. I smiled and she sighed.“No love, you need to rest as well. Go get yourself something to eat, I will join you shortly” she squeezed my forearm with a soft smile on her beautiful face, before turning back to the she-wolf. I looked around and spotted Ares sitting with his sister on some large l

Artemis thought she had to choose between two mates, and so they tried to force her hand. Those damned idiots!
