We arrive at Roman’s area of the pack around lunch the next day. Ryder spent a long time in the woods last night. And then again in his tent this morning. But he seemed so much more relaxed when he finally got in the car.

Amelia and I have been able to hold hands and touch each other, although it’s still pretty innocent. We don’t want to fuck shit up too soon.

When we pull up to the packhouse, Roman is waiting for us with his mate, Sonia, and their pack of pups. I mean, they literally have 10 kids ranging from 10 to a new pup in swaddling blankets.

I don’t know how her vagina is the same. Did she have some reconstruction surgery? I mean, our wolf regenerating powers can only do so much, right?

“Amelia! Kennedy! Ryder! It’s been way too long since I’ve seen you and your families,” Roman says, pulling us into a huge bear hug. I mean, the man is ginormous. If I didn’t know better, I would think that he was a bear shifter, not a werewolf. “It’s been, what three or four

I'm guessing his wolf is the key to taking down Lucifer ... I'm just wondering what else will happen with him because his wolf came so early.

“Your Majesty, King Lucifer has sent these to please you,” one of the demons says, bringing in a necklace of large rubies, a dress made of sheer gauzy black silk, pure white calfskin slippers, a pearl as large as my fist, and a tiara made of black obsidian and diamonds and blood red garnets and rubies. I try not to roll my eyes in front of the servant. I can’t have anyone but Persephone know how much I absolutely hate Lucifer. He’s been pampering me with expensive and rare items ever since he found out that I was pregnant days ago. I’m dressed head to toe in silks and precious gems. All of my clothes are see-through or nearly that way so that he can ‘see my belly grow heavy with his child.’ Fucker. He’s also sending me all kinds of foods that are supposed to help with the growth of the baby. Some of it is based on actual science, some on old folklore and wives’ tales. If I see another fish eyeball or goat brain, I’ll kill something. Preferably my ‘mate.’ “Thank you. J

I kind of went off the deep end when Freya told me about meeting Nyx in the Astral Plane. I…didn’t handle that very well. Honestly, it’s one of the reasons that I’m glad that I didn’t take the position as alpha. I’m too impulsive, too emotional to make rational decisions for the pack. It’s another reason that I’m glad that Tomas and I share the position as lead warriors for the Elite. I also got hyperfocused on one things, sometimes to the detriment of other issues. So I got hyperfocused on getting Nyx out. I know that she’s a goddess now. I know that I’m still going to have to carry out my part of the prophecy and kill her. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to get her away from Lucifer. And I also know that I won’t have her back as my mate. So, I wasn’t trying to push away Freya. But that’s exactly what I did. So when she came into the library and asked me if I was rejecting her, I was gobsmacked. “Rejecting you?” I asked. “No! No, Frey. I want to be with y

“I fucking hate waiting around for these glorified dogs. What do they think, that we’ve got nothing better to do?” Hecate whines from beside me. “What do you have better to do, sister? Your three gods?” I whisper to her. She blushes prettily, but also gives a smile of smug satisfaction. Loki, Vidar, and Baldur are all sitting around her, talking to their brother Thor. My mate. Who has me sitting in his lap. Hecate is currently sitting on Loki’s lap, her legs across Baldur’s legs, and her back leaning against Vidar’s chest. The woman is treated like a queen by these three men and I have yet to see them separated since Thor kind of forced them together. Honestly, I haven’t really seen much of Hecate since then. These Viking gods are insatiable. “Not a bad idea, sister. I like the way that your woman thinks,” Baldur says to my mate. I don’t think that I’ll ever get tired of calling Thor that. He growls, pulling my back to his front. “If she’s got enough time to think

I knew. The second that those overgrown bats started talking about how to take down Lucifer, I knew that this is when information would get out that would change everything. You see, I had been given a prophecy when I was very young about the great loves of my life. Why, you may ask? Well, none of us gods are particularly faithful to human lovers. And one of my lovers was an oracle. I got with her, and then her brother, and then her sister and she was pretty pissed off with me. So she gave me a prophecy about my love life. Now, you may ask, why is that such a bad thing? Well you’ve never been given a list of your four greatest loves, have you? See when you’re in love, you want to think that it’ll never end. It’ll go on forever and you’ll live happily ever after and all that mushy and unrealistic bullshit. Now imagine that you are in love. You’re happy. But they are only the first name on the list that you were given. What kinds of things go through your mind? Why

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 63 - Jacob

We had been passed out when Hermes left for the meeting with the angels. I vaguely remember him kissing me on the forehead before he left, but that was about it. From the second that we finished the mating process, we have been insatiable. I mean, literally fucking every second that we aren’t stuffing food into our mouths or sleeping. Shit, sometimes we’re eating off of each other, so the food becomes a part of the foreplay. The thing with the whole mating period is that the stronger the mates are, the longer the mating period takes. Notoriously, alpha matebonds will last about a month, where almost everyone else’s will last at least two weeks. But our matebond has a wolf who is not only an alpha, but also a demi-god, an ancient god, and a wolf who is a god’s mouthpiece here on Earth. Who the fuck knows how long our mating period is going to take? Especially with us likely having to stop in the middle of the mating period to go fuck up some demons, which will only prolong it

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 64 - Alexander

Hermes moves over so that Jake and I can sit down, though he keeps JoJo on his lap and doesn’t pull out of her. From experience, even when he’s soft, he’s big enough that he is in no danger of falling out. Jake sits on one side of Hermes and JoJo and I sit on the other, the two of us cuddling into our godly mate. All four of us are breathing heavily, trying to catch our breaths. My thoughts go back to something I’ve been thinking about since I found out that we were mates, while my mates whisper sweet words to each other, along with kisses and petting. I can’t help but reach out and touch JoJo’s stomach, my hand splaying on the tiny, flat, tightness of her, thinking what she would look like with our pups growing inside her, making her stomach rounder, fuller, and brimming with life. JoJo gasps and I look up to see her eyes dancing with unshed tears. “You really feel like that? You want pups now?” “Yes,” I say hoarsely. “I know that we’re facing war and that the timing fo

“Yeah, baby?” Jacob says, a mischievous lilt to his voice. He looks pointedly at Hermes’s cock which is hard again after watching our other two mates fuck me and pump me full of their cum. “Does it have anything to do with how hard you are? Because the answer is an emphatic ‘yes’!” “Fuck yes,” Hermes groans out, but then shakes his head. “I mean, no. No. That isn’t what I wanted to say. Ugh, I think we’re gonna need some clothes if this is going to be a productive conversation.” “No!” all three of us whine, but Hermes waves his hands and we’re teleported to the dining room with clothes on. All three of us complain but Hermes waves his hand again and food appears on the table. All of our favorites and so much more. “Eat while you listen to me,” he tells us. And of course we’re all starving. It’s just part and parcel of the bonding period. We fuck like bunnies, sleep a little, and eat even less. That’s how things go when you have a matebond of four people, with one of th

“How do we get in touch with the angels? Did you figure that out?” I ask my great aunt. “Actually, they stopped me before we left the meeting,” Selene says. “They want to meet with all of the gods and goddesses that are connected to the shifters that are possible archangels.” “So why are you here Hecate? You aren’t connected to any of us as a goddess or a mate,” JoJo asks. I pull her into my chest by the back of her neck, using my thumb to wipe away the last vestiges of her tears. I don’t like knowing what this is doing to my mates and I’ll do anything I can to help comfort them. I can’t help but smile when she turns into my palm and kisses it. The spark of lust from the newly formed matebond flares, but it seems when something really important presents itself, we’re able to put it on the back burner. This whole mating process is fascinating. I am in awe of Selene’s creativity when she made the werewolf species. And I’m especially thankful for the three wolves that

So much pain. Those fucking angels! They killed my mate. They killed MY CHILD! And then they tried to kill me. I had enough power left within me in order teleport away from them to the edge of Tartarus. But I was bleeding heavily from a wound that eviscerated my stomach and just missed my heart. Otherwise, I would have died right then and there. I used all the power that I had left to make my way through the cyclopses, the hydra, the river of fire. And then I make my way down the labyrinthine walkways, looking for my first love. Only she will have the power to heal me. Only she will have the power to bring me back to what I was before. I don’t know how long it took for me to get to her. How much blood flowed from my body. How much pain I felt. How low I had to get. I laid on the ground, covered in dirt, dehydrated, and weak. And then I feel someone push me with their foot.

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 99 - Josefina

It’s so hard to believe that the war is over. All of that build up and fear for just one, admittedly epic, fight? I guess I just never realized how much war is about waiting for something to happen. Hermes says that it’s really like that, but it’s still hard to believe. The angels are all up in a tither worried that they haven’t been able to find evidence of Lucifer’s body being gone. We haven’t heard anything from their god, so I’m assuming that he’s not worried about it. I mean, it’s been two weeks and nothing. Gabriel has even come to Jacob and said that he can start the process of detaching from the Christian god and giving up his powers. Though, halfway through Gabriel’s instructions on how to do that, Michael showed up and basically begged Jacob to remain a Throne for another six months. Just in case Lucifer came back. After meeting with Maeve, Dougal, and Win, the results were mixed. Maeve hated being a Throne.

A parent should never have to bury their child. Ever. Even though Nyx wasn’t of our blood or even of our species, she was just as much our child as Jared, Summer, and Chris. Even though she was only with us for a less than a year, she was our pup. And this is the worst pain that I’ve ever experienced, aside from the pain of losing Charlie. I stand with Kayla, Brandon, Jared, Summer, Rowen, Chris, and Esteban. Little Lilianna sits on Chris’s lap, the two year old not understanding what is happening. Neither do the triplets, Nixon, Natalie, and Nolan. Each are sitting with the parent that they seem to gravitate to the most: Nixon with her little hands trying to wipe the tears from Kayla’s face, Natalie in my arms and giving me hugs and kisses to try to comfort me, and Nolan sitting stoically in Brandon’s arms though he has his hands wraps around his father’s fingers. No, our pups don’t know what has happened, but they know that something is wrong. Nathan stands on Kayla’s othe

I immediately know when Lucifer has been slain. We all do. There’s a power in the air that just dissipates. It’s there one second and then it’s gone. And then the enemy either surrender or run away, dropping their weapons as they go. Oh, there are a few die hard proponents of what Lucifer was trying to do, but they don’t last long. They are quickly overrun by fae, witches, wolves, shifters, supernaturals, or angels. Within an hour of Lucifer’s death, all of the fighting is done and the medics have flooded the field. Gods and goddesses either heal right there on the field or teleport those that need immediate medical attention to the surgery tents. Arya and I quickly turn to the Elite and pups’ mates, and our friends. “Summer! Jared!” Arya says, looking up from healing a nasty bite to Tomas’s leg that is already showing signs of infection. “Here!” Summer shouts out in a pained voice. I turn to see

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 96 - Nathan

All three of us see the Morning star leaving the palace and stepping onto the field with the angels and we know that time is running out. We have to hurry and get to Nyx and sever her bond with Lucifer so that he is weak enough for them to kill him. No one else seems to be guarding the castle, at lest not on our side. I can see that demons and gods are getting into ranks and preparing to get onto the battlefield. The problem is, they’re too slow. The angels are already hear. They have breached the walls that surround the castle, their armor and very skin gleaming, their swords and battle axe’s, and spears coated in the multiple colors of blood that each of these evil beings possess. “We need to get inside while they’re all occupied,” Rowen says as we run towards the gates. “And before anyone comes in as reinforcements.” “Anyone see how to get the gates open?” Alexander says, his eyes rapidly taking in the structure in front of us.

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 95 - Jacob

The second that we make our way through the gate into the Underworld, we’re all ready to start fighting. I mean, that’s the logical thing to do, right? Problem is, we seem to have gone into a gate where there are minimal guards. Like, this gate seems to have been forgotten completely. There's two there and they were taken out by the blast that opened the gate. Either we got really fucking lucky. Or we’ve walked into a trap. Angels pour into the hole behind us, creating a perimeter to keep us safe from behind. No, they won’t be able to stop Lucifer, but they are cannon fodder that will slow him down. Yeah, that sounds really fucking shitty to say it like that, but they knew the score when they were assigned to the role. It is what it is. From the gate, I can see Hades’s palace, where Lucifer and his new queen, Nyx, have been staying since they were kicked out of Valhalla. We’re coming in about five miles to the south and three miles above the palace. The gate is in

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 94 - Hermes

It is killing me to wait here with the gods while my mates are all in three different spots right now. I’m so agitated and distracted by this fact that my winged shoes are making me float about a foot off of the ground. Josefina is with her parents, fighting near the front lines. What I hate is that she doesn’t have any powers to fight with. She’s just got her strength and skills as a warrior and a wolf. Thank fuck that the wolves take fighting seriously, so she has a ton of skill. But that only helps me feel just a little bit of relief. She is definitely the mate that I’m most worried about. But then there’s Alexander. He and his twin are escorting Nathan to get to Nyx so that he can kill her and the child in her stomach. Hecate had told us that Nyx is in labor starting this morning. So they have to get to her quickly. Of course, that means finding the right time to get past the enemy army ahead of the rest of our allies and then fight whoever Lucifer has guarding the

The contractions had been happening off and on for the past two days. “Braxton-Hicks,” Persephone assured me. “It’s just your body’s way of getting ready for birth. It can happen for a long time before you actually go into labor. I really wouldn’t worry about it if I were you.” But I knew better. I could feel this evil thing’s elation as it could feel me preparing for birth. It had been tossing and turning in my stomach, moving into position for birth. So when I woke in the wee hours of the morning today, feeling strong achy bands of pressure all around my stomach. I let out a wheezy, breathy screams as the feeling took my breath away. I had been laying on my left side, my head pillowed on Lucifer’s arm, his other arm keeping me pulled into him. When I had woken in pain, it woke him up as well. “What’s wrong? What’s happening?” Lucifer asks, his eyes are wide, but his voice is laced with aggression and protectiveness. He had moved over top of me, caging me against t

  • Mother, May I   Chapter 92 - Alexander

The screeching sound that comes from above us sounds like a combination between the howl of a wolf, the cry of some kind of bird of prey, and a woman’s scream. We look up and there are seven of these…things. They have the body of a woman, looking heavily pregnant and near giving birth, talons for feet and wings like a giant eagle, and the head of an enormous rabid jackal. But the belly is actually full of the babies and men that they’ve eaten. They are wearing what looks like a skull bikini, a skull covering each breast and her vulva. It’s fucking weird and looks very uncomfortable. In their hands, each carries one knife made of fire and another made of ice. The Lamashtu. The seven aspects of the Mesapotamian Goddess of evil. Think Hecate, but in seven different bodies instead of sharing the same body. And when I say that she was evil, I mean EVIL. Evil just for evil’s sake. One of the few goddesses in all of the various pantheons who didn’t have a reason to be evil. S
