"Now what do we do with her?"
Albera looks at Nyx with worried eyes, I know what's going on in her mind. Currently she's lying on my bed, we helped her stitching the leg wound and bandaging it up, it's not that serious so it will heal soon. She's been sleeping for an hour, after being unconscious, I hope she won't misunderstand the situation when she wakes up.
"The wolf she fought with is definitely stronger than her," Albera indicates at the wound. "Otherwise she wouldn't have been hurt."
"Fought? She could have been attacked."
"That maybe the case so, but there's blood stains in her nails and that wouldn't be hers. She injured the other wolf too, but that was stronger so it ran away."
I sigh, "The other wolf couldn't be from our pack, could it?"
"I don't know that. I don't detect any pheromones from her, must be because of our separate bloodlines."
But I can sense her pheromones. Why's that?
"Well, you gotta make sure no one comes in your den," Albera alerts me. "And when she wakes up, you should help her get back to her pack safely. It's gonna cause a rackus if anyone finds out she's here."
"Yeah, I understand," I nod.

At the vast dining hall, various types of foods and utensils are being arranged. Tonight is a special night, because various important persons from all around the pack will come to join dinner, sometimes have a discussion or meeting. And along with my four brothers, I have to be present at the dinner too, at all cost, as a son of the lead Alpha of Crescent Moon pack.
But I'm beginning to get worried since Nyx is still in my den, alone. I left a note explaining the situation as politely as possible, but it seems like she's getting weaker. I won't be shocked if her enemy wolf used silverine teeth to attack her and it's poisoning her blood. Maybe I should privately assign a doctor to examine her before midnight. After midnight wolves normally go hunting, so it'll be too dangerous for Nyx to go back to her pack. Maybe she could stay for a few days here? Or maybe somewhat disguise her? I'm not sure, as I look at the servant girls arranging the tables, I'm feeling impatient.
But why am I also so worried for her? She's from an enemy pack, so I should consider her as that. I've known her for so little time, but I still can't bring myself to think of her as my enemy.
"What's got you so lost, brother?" a deep, charming voice breaks the thread of my thoughts. It's Charles, one of my elder brothers, also known as the heartthrob of the town due to his charisma. I eye him upside down, perfectly ironed sleeveless coat, white cotton shirt with folded hands till the elbows, messily brushed dark hair, muscular yet athletic figure with trained jawline. No wonder most of the girls are so head over heel for him.
"I saw you at the Central library today, hovering in the pile of fucking books," he scoffs, apparently he thinks that werewolves shouldn't be too nerdy since it's not like their nature. "Why would a werewolf read such useless things, when he should be tearing apart the guts of the enemy wolves? Listen, we're holding a hunting trip this weekend, with some of my friends. Why don't you join in?" he pats my shoulder while chuckling. Man, he's excessively strong.
"I apologise, I'm not interested," I put up a fake polite smile. "But why were you at the library?"
"Oht, you don't say. I met this hot librarian a few days ago...." blah blah blah, then he kept blabbering about how he's going to get her in his bed and then leave her after he's done. The moment I'm at the edge of losing all of my patience, my father Alpha Jonathan raises his glass, making all the people at the hall quiet.
"Everyone," his scary deep voice echoes at the hall, all eyes on him. "Tonight is the 267th Hall of Supper session since our Crescent Moon pack was created. Numerous important people of our pack have gathered here tonight, so I must share a news that'll only achieve greater things for our community," he chuckles, a mysterious cloud of emotion playing in his eyes.
Whispering clamour begins among people at the hall, they look excited yet curious to know what the news might be. Maybe it's a war declaration against an enemy pack or some kind of ceremony.
Father indicates his glass at Charles, who is standing stiffly beside me, "I'm very happy to announce the marriage ceremony of my second eldest son Charles and the only daughter of Blood Moon pack lead Alpha, Nyx. The ceremony is going to be held two days from now on, at the night of full moon!"
Suddenly I don't hear the cheers and howls celebrating the so-called happy news. I don't see how all the blood is vanished from Charles's face, like he's anemic. I don't hear Albera desperately calling my name from behind.
All I know is I have to get the fuck out of that hall and get back to my den.
~
The almost full moon and the rage inside is pressuring me to let my wolf out, it's now like a hungry, wild beast inside a cage. Nothing is making sense right now, but I can't transform into my wolf, I keep telling myself that in my subconscious. If I let him out, I'm pretty sure that I'll destroy the pack along with myself.
Blood. The smell of her blood. She's awake.
I have to calm myself down.
I enter the den slowly, letting her know that it's me by releasing my pheromones. She's sitting up on my bed, her hair all messy but beautiful, she looks up at me with lost eyes.
"Alpha Lorenzo," she tries to get up to greet me, but I stop her. "No need to be courteous. You are wounded."
"I assume this is your den? Did you find me?" She doesn't look like she wants answers, she can already guess that. She looks like she's thinking about something. Soon the wondered mind turns into an angry mess, she grits her teeth looking at the bandage around her leg.
"Who did you have a fight with? Someone from your pack? I ask, crossing my arms.
"Sorry, but none of your business," Nyx winces slightly as she stands up. "I need to get back to my pack as soon as possible."
"Well, are you?" I scoff. "You sure you don't wanna pay a visit to your soon-to-be mate before going back? Who knows maybe he's waiting for you in his room."
She frowns, sensing my anger. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb, Nyx," I fail to calm my voice.
"I don't understand," she genuinely sounds confused. "If you're talking about something about from past, you then have to excuse me since I'm not really interested in that topic."
"No, I'm not talking about Noah."
"Rumors are really like fire, they spread quicker than we can imagine," she murmurs under her breath.
"I'm talking about Charles, my brother."
"Yeah what about him?" She pulls out a black cloak from my self, putting it on.
"He's going to be your mate after two days. Father announced the news tonight in front of everyone," I can't even speak normally, feeling overwhelmed.
She flinches. "So that's why my father visited your family."
"How come you're not shocked? I thought you'd be screaming right now after hearing that your family is marrying you off without your permission," the surprised feeling takes over my anger.
"My family can do the worst things possible, I'm aware of that," she sighs, then looks at the door with hurried expression. "I really have to go back right now. So many unfinished works need to be finished."
There are those pheromones again. Vengeful, angry, but planned and determined.
"Well, then I'm going with you," I pull another black cloak from the racks. "I can't let you go alone, Alphaess Nyx."
We are walking side by side quietly through the forest. I chose a route that won't have that much wolves hunting in the way, since that part is kind of abandoned. It's rough to walk through all this branches and bushes, but at least it's safer. Now these are the moments I never thought I'd experience in my life. I had friends, I do have, but I never had someone to feel at my soul, regardless of gender. I was always kind of quiet and calm, but now I feel like I'm enjoying the silence with someone. I look at Nyx, the hood over her head expressing a mysterious aura, expression weary and cold. Maybe I shouldn't find this that much enjoyable, because as much as I can gather, something bad is definitely gonna happen. "It's really quiet," Nyx utters softly, the moonlight shinning on her. We can only hear the breaking sound of dry leaves and brunches, along with night insects. "Yeah, this route is said to abandoned," I nod in affirmation. "Most of the wolves go hunting around the west side
Kill. The competition ceremony is about how many you can kill. It doesn't have to be any creature other than wolves, you can even kill among within your pack, it doesn't really matter. You're free to have a feast on whatever creature you like, as long as those creatures are in the ceremony. Any time of weapons, any type of legal or illegal transformation is allowed. Team making is prohibited, only one person can win the contest and they will be rewarded by some great things, which is decided by the lead Alpha. It includes cannibalism. Growing up in a family of lead Alpha, hunting never really bothered me or made me sick or anything. I always thought it was normal, you gotta go by your instincts and nature, establish the habits that your species hold. But what I'm seeing right now is on a different level. "Are you alright?" Nyx looks at me with worried eyes, we're on disguise right now, wearing commoner's outfit. "Yeah, I'm fine," I nod, though it's kind of shocking, but it's not e
As she watches him walk away through the valley, she unknowingly feels sad for some reason. He's not like some superstar of the town. His physiques, his facial structure, his walking style, they're nothing extraordinary. But still she feels something for him. She felt cherished when he came in front to help her knowing she's from an enemy pack. And when he and his sister healed her when they could get her in trouble by informing her presence to the lead Alpha. And she felt the moments when he was watching her secretly, it was a mixture of attraction and sincerity, along with a hint of lust. First time is always dangerous. She sighs again, turning around to head back to her pack, she has to pay a visit to her father. She was worried about nothing, no one cared about that she was missing except her servant Maria. But now they'll definitely care, because of all the things she's going to do now. ~ "It's a pretty moon, huh?" Nyx lets out a breath after hearing the familiar voice behi
She has been staring into distance for a while. The night sky is astonishingly dark, since it's a total moon eclipse. The moon was red even a while ago, like it was celebrating the ceremony of the new Blood Moon lead Alphaess. Nyx turns around hearing the sound of the door opening, only to see the advisor president wolf of the pack. Surprisingly she's annoying enough, even Nyx was losing her careful stored patience earlier in the ceremony. Advisor wolf kept nagging, saying how a she-wolf without her mate shouldn't sit on the Silverine throne, also kept blabbering about the rituals. Nyx just tried to be numb in those moment. Even she feels her desperate need for a mate in her heart, but she's forcing the brain to reject that feeling. She doesn't think that she's in a position to put her trust in someone that badly, yet. "Here you are, lead Alphaess," Advisor Jenna exclaims, clearly putting on a fake smile. "Since it's such a charming night, you shouldn't waste it sitting alone
"So your father and me got an invitation," My mother says, eyes expressionless. "A ceremony cointaining lead Alphas and their mates from all over the country."I can't exactly pay attention to what she's saying, I'm thinking of something else. It has been a week since I sent that letter by our local raven. I can't really expect a reply from her, it's not like I wanted or asked something. But still the craving is there, I want to talk to her. I want to see her again. I want to get rid of this confusion and frustration. "You don't look well. Is something the matter with you?" my mother slightly frowns, apparently she didn't like the feeling showing my negligence to her speech. "No, I'm fine," I shake my body in a speedy motion, as if to show off how strong and light my body feels. "So you and father are going to attend this ceremony?" "It's not like an order from the King, but it might be a great experience since all the lead Alphas will be there, according to their will. I also came
For the next six months, I prepare myself for absolute hell. At first it seemed like pure torture, but I put my mind and determination into it. For the first month, I was sent to the national training camp for werewolves. As much as I hate to admit it, I've never taken such type of training in my whole life, because I thought that wasn't necessary since we're a prestigious family. My family didn't oppose much when I said I would be gone for months, only Albera expressed her worries and told me to be careful. At the training camp, we have to spend our every moment by following a schedule, in order to achieve perseverance, discipline and patience. People here are also trained to do meditation, which helps to discover the soul and control their emotions which are very significant. I kept being fed with new things and techniques and tried my best to do things right. A sudden burst of gas hit my senses, making me cough vigorously as I was distracted. Wolverine gas attacks aren't compl
"Your dinner is ready, Alphaess," Maria bows her head, worriedly looking at Nyx. Nyx says nothing and continues to lie on her bed motionless. She has a lot going on her mind, and she doesn't even want to figure it out. A great power comes with great offerings and regrets, it never comes alone. Right now she's wishing someone will come forward to save her from this mess, and she can relax in an island or something like that in the meantime. What a bizarre wish, she laughs at her helplessness. "Alphaess," Maria addresses again, trying to keep her tone polite. Nyx glances at her, aware of her presence and mindset. She doesn't feel like eating or doing anything, but she still gets up hoping food will help remove her distress for a while. "Any letters for me, Maria?" "No, Alphaess."Nys wonders if Lorenzo heard about the war too. That will only cause him to worry about her and interrupt his training, which she doesn't wish for. She sighs, preparing her mind to be strong, she's not som
When Nyx comes back to her den, she is immediately notified about an emergency meeting. She lets out a sigh and slips into some comfortable clothes within a few moments, the traditional clothes are such a hassle. She pauses the moment she enters the meeting room, there is a person she never thought she would see again. Her younger brother Walker is standing in the corner of the room, looking like a completely changed man. His hair has grown down his shoulders within a few months, his physique has become bulky and powerful. "Heya, sister," he waves his hand, smirking. "I thought you left to join the warrior squad," Nyx scoffs, finding it hard to believe. "How come I didn't know you're such a great actor, Walker?"He laughs maniacally, making everyone present at the hall question his sanity. "Because you were dumb, sister. A neglected daughter who was always obsessed with fucking witchcraft, craving for revenge. You got your throne, but at what cost? All of this is gonna be annihilat
I never thought this would happen. Never. Not like this. Not now. Not with him.I watch as Lorenzo’s chest rises and falls, each breath getting weaker, slower, like the very life within him is being drained away. The blood still stains the floor around us, a reminder of how quickly everything is unraveling. It’s as if time itself is slipping through my fingers, and all I can do is hold onto him. My mate. My everything. His hand is so cold in mine. I try to warm it, press my palm against his, but it feels like the warmth is fading, like the life inside of him is ebbing away with each passing second. I press my cheek against his forehead, my tears falling freely, mixing with the blood that covers us both. Healers, even the world's most powerful healer can't help him. "Lorenzo," I whisper, my voice hoarse with the weight of my fear. "Please, don’t do this. Please don’t leave me. I can’t lose you. I just_ I can’t."But he doesn’t answer. His lips remain still, and his eyes are closed, as
I wake up to the sound of rustling leaves. It’s quiet, too quiet, like the calm before a storm. My head is pounding, a sharp ache that seems to cut through my skull. I blink, trying to focus, but everything is blurry, and I’m suddenly aware of a sickening warmth creeping up from my stomach. I sit up, but the room tilts and spins, and before I can stop it, I feel a wave of nausea wash over me. I stagger out of bed, desperate to make it to the bathroom, but my legs feel like they’re made of lead. The moment I stand, the room tilts to the side. My vision darkens.I feel the bile rise in my throat, and I can’t stop it. I double over in pain, retching violently. Blood splatters across the floor, staining the stone tiles beneath my feet. My chest tightens, the air becoming harder and harder to breathe, but I can’t control it. The blood keeps coming.“Lorenzo!” The voice is frantic, filled with fear.I look up, and through my blurred vision, I see Nyx rushing toward me, her face pale with wo
I can hear the soft rustling of leaves, the distant calls of the creatures in the woods around us, but all of it fades away in the face of the moment. It’s happening.Enzo. My son.I watch him, standing tall in the middle of the clearing, the wolf inside him finally unleashed. His transformation is complete. The air around us crackles with the energy of it, the power of the wild that he’s just embraced. My heart swells with pride. I always knew this day would come—the day he would claim his wolf, step into his true power. But as I watch him now, golden eyes glowing in the pale moonlight, there’s a knot tightening in my chest. It’s the curse. The curse that has loomed over me, hovering like a dark cloud, waiting for the moment when my son would finally become whole. The moment when the last part of him would emerge. The moment when the bond between us would be fully realized. And with that realization, I would lose him.I swallow, trying to push away the bitter taste of that thought. I
The moonlight spills into the clearing, casting a soft glow across the forest. It’s peaceful here, the wind rustling gently through the leaves, the scent of pine filling the air. But tonight, there’s a different energy—a charge in the atmosphere, thick with anticipation. Nyx stands by Lorenzo, her heart beating faster than usual as they watch their son, Enzo, standing in the center of the clearing. He’s ready. He has to be. Tonight is the night he finally gets his wolf, the transformation that will mark him as a true Lycan, as one of their kind.Nyx can see the nervous tension in Enzo’s posture, the way his hands are clenched at his sides. His chest rises and falls with each breath, his golden eyes flickering nervously toward her and Lorenzo. He’s been through so much already, and though he may be growing stronger, there’s still a part of him that’s afraid. Afraid of the unknown, afraid of the power that’s about to course through his veins.Enzo is a warrior in the making, but tonight
It’s quiet for a moment. Too quiet. The wind, which had been carrying the scent of the surrounding forest, now seems to still, as though the entire world is holding its breath. Nyx watches Enzo carefully, her heart beating faster than usual as she takes a step closer to him, her protective instincts flaring.Lorenzo stands beside her, his gaze locked on their son, who is standing tall, his hands clenched at his sides. Enzo looks nervous—no, more than nervous. He looks unsure, as if something so big, so monumental is about to happen, and he’s not quite ready for it. Nyx can understand that. She remembers when she first felt the power of her wolf and the weight of her responsibility. But this? This was different.Enzo isn’t just a wolf. He’s a Lycan, and he’s about to awaken something inside him that none of them fully understand. She can see it in his eyes—the flicker of uncertainty, the quiet struggle to accept what’s coming. But it’s in his blood, running deep. There’s no escaping it
The ground beneath us shakes, sending a ripple of unease through my bones. The ritual has begun, but it’s not like anything I’ve ever felt before. The magic surrounding us pulses like a living thing, thrumming in the air. It feels as if the very forest is alive, watching, waiting.Lorenzo’s hand tightens around mine, his fingers steady despite the chaos unfolding around us. Enzo stands beside us, his expression unreadable, but I know he feels it too—the power, the danger. I can sense the tension in the air, thick and heavy, as if everything could unravel in an instant.Lyra’s voice cuts through the cacophony of power, calm and firm. “Stay focused. Let the magic guide you.”I glance at Lorenzo, his jaw clenched, his eyes hard with determination. He doesn’t say anything, but I know he’s thinking the same thing I am. This is dangerous, more so than any battle we’ve fought. The Heart of the Forest is a place of immense power, but it’s also unpredictable. We don’t know what we’ll face. The
The days blur as we prepare for the ritual. The elves have been working tirelessly, gathering everything we need, and the weight of what’s coming hangs over me like a storm cloud. It’s all happening too fast. The sense of urgency is palpable, but I can’t shake the fear that something is going to go wrong. I can feel it in the air, the subtle tremor of something dark lurking just out of sight.Nyx doesn’t say much about it. She’s focused, her mind on the task at hand. I can tell she’s trying to keep her worries buried, not wanting me to see how heavy the weight is on her shoulders. But I see the way she looks at Enzo sometimes, that protective glance, the way her hand lingers on his shoulder when she thinks no one is watching. It’s clear she’s worried about him, too. He’s young, still finding his place in the world, and the challenges ahead are only going to get harder. We’re ready. At least, I hope we are.The night before the ritual, I sit with Nyx in the clearing outside the village
The days blur together. Every moment spent thinking of the elven village, wondering where they are, and wondering what this new beginning holds for us. The tension in the pack lingers, and the responsibility of leading weighs heavier with each passing hour. But Nyx’s presence grounds me. She’s always been the strength I need, the constant anchor in the storm of uncertainty. Her words keep me focused, her eyes keep me hopeful.Enzo, too, has been a source of light. I can tell he’s worried about Noah, his elf friend, but he’s stronger now. Not as the child I once knew, but as someone who understands the depths of what we’re up against.Today, we leave the Blood Moon Pack behind for a while. The elves have called for us. They need to speak with us, and Nyx insists that we need to go. I agree, though there’s a part of me that’s reluctant to leave the pack. There’s always a part of me that’s reluctant to leave the familiar and step into unknown territory, but I know this is necessary.Enzo
The morning light filters through the window, casting soft beams across the room. I lie there, tangled in the sheets with Nyx in my arms, her breath slow and even as she rests against me. It’s peaceful here, in this moment, but the lingering weight of everything that’s been happening presses down on me.The quiet is almost deceptive. We’re in the calm before the storm.I brush a strand of hair from Nyx’s face, my fingers gently tracing her features. She stirs slightly, her eyes fluttering open. Her gaze meets mine, and for a split second, the world outside disappears. There’s only us, here, in this room. Safe. Together.“Morning,” I whisper, my voice raspy from sleep. She smiles faintly, her lips curving upward. “Morning.”Her hand rests on my chest, and I can feel the steady rhythm of her heartbeat. It’s grounding, comforting, like everything is okay for once. But I know better. This peace we’ve found isn’t permanent. There’s always something lurking in the shadows, just waiting to p
