"So your father and me got an invitation," My mother says, eyes expressionless. "A ceremony cointaining lead Alphas and their mates from all over the country."
I can't exactly pay attention to what she's saying, I'm thinking of something else. It has been a week since I sent that letter by our local raven. I can't really expect a reply from her, it's not like I wanted or asked something. But still the craving is there, I want to talk to her. I want to see her again. I want to get rid of this confusion and frustration.
"You don't look well. Is something the matter with you?" my mother slightly frowns, apparently she didn't like the feeling showing my negligence to her speech.
"No, I'm fine," I shake my body in a speedy motion, as if to show off how strong and light my body feels. "So you and father are going to attend this ceremony?"
"It's not like an order from the King, but it might be a great experience since all the lead Alphas will be there, according to their will. I also came to know that some family members of the lead Alpha can also join, as long as it's appropriate and meets the requirements."
Suddenly I'm weary, listening earnestly to her though she continues to remain expressionless. Since all the lead Alphas will attend the ceremony, does that mean....
"You're not thinking about the Blood Moon girl, are ya?" Charles growls behind me, his expression tells that he's aware of the ceremony news.
"She's not just some girls, an Alphaess. At least show some respect," I reply in a grumpy voice. It's clear that he still haven't accepted the rejection from Nyx quite well, but that doesn't excuse his behaviour.
"Respect?" he scoffs, glancing at my mother. "Dear Mother, will you teach your stupid son a lesson? He's been going outta hands recently, forgetting how that girl humiliated our pack."
"All she did was rejecting the marriage proposal with you," I shrug. "I don't see how that would consider the whole pack."
Charles is at a loss of words hearing this and leaves the room with a storm after giving me a vicious glare. And my mother lets out a soft sigh, saying nothing.
Now this is my chance to see Nyx again, by attending the ceremony next week.
~
"Welcome to the beginning of Alpha Pleasure ceremony," the man wearing suit coat announces it loudly by the mic, holding a neverending smile. Most of the crowd stops for a moment to hear what he has to say, some of the others continuing what they were doing.
My eyes keep wandering among the crowd, looking for a familiar figure. Though I assume that she probably won't be here at the festival, since she's an Alphaess, she must have gotten handful of expensive private festivals or something like that. I stare at the dens decorations behind the stage, wondering if she would be there. Among the storm of countless wolves here, a certain person is pretty tough to find, I won't deny that.
I walk to the massive tables full of foods after a while, asking myself if I'm in the mood for to eat. Since this is a national festival, there are also wolf meats, seems nicely cooked. But the sight of those meat pieces gross the hell outta me, I'd never be in a place where I take part in cannibalism, no matter how hard it gets.
"Hungry?" a voice whispers behind me suddenly.
I immediately recognise the voice, whose tone I've wanted and craved to hear for weeks. I slowly turn and see her smiling mischievously at me. She looks brighter and prettier than I could even imagine, her plain white outfit radiating beautiful aura.
"Nyx, Alphaess Nyx," I breath heavily as I utter her name.
She glances around the area and offers me her hand to hold, "Mind getting out of this place, Alpha Lorenzo?"
~
We walk by the bank of a calm, small river near the festival area, our hands are almost touching. I wait for her confirmation with an excessively beating heart, wondering if that's too much. South wind breeze continues to bless our souls and Nyx lets me hold her hand with a soft chuckle.
"What's the nervousness for, Lorenzo?" she calls me by my name for the first time.
I look into her eyes, wanting to tell her all the unspoken feelings and sentences I have been concealing.
"I can't help it, when I'm with you, Nyx."
She definitely knows. Psychology says that girls are good at getting hints like this, but in most of the cases, they act like they don't know anything. Honestly I can't blame her in this situation, it was just that day she rose to the throne. That event still feels hard to believe, the power this girl holds, and right now I'm holding her hand.
"I don't really expect you to give me an answer right now," I say again, stopping my steps and experiencing boldness. "You can have all the time you want, but eventually I demand an answer."
"Demand an answer of what, Alpha Lorenzo?" she looks at me softly, sunlight majestically radiating on her beautiful face and hair.
I take a deep breath, thinking what if there goes nothing and she rejects me without any second chance. I don't wanna imagine the outcome, but can't help denying that thought either.
"The answer to the feelings that I have for you. You have taken over my mind the moment I first saw you and you're the first one. I want to be your mate, Alphaess Nyx, I want to take care of you till my last breath. I don't demand an answer from you right away, I'm sure this is sudden for you. I want to be a better man for you, a man you can brag about, and I'm ready to do anything for that."
"Are you sure you're not mistaking your feelings? Maybe those feelings are the signs of friendship?" Nyx blurts out awkwardly, her cheeks are blushing with embarrassment.
"No, Alphaess, there's no mistake," I shake my head, feeling desperate to prove my emotions. "Man and woman can't be friends, and I don't intend to form a friendship with you either way. I wanna be your soulmate, want to love you and take care of you, protecting of from any kind of danger and stand by you at every situation."
Nyx slowly steps closer to me, pressing my hand to her chest. She looks into my eyes, eyes full of smile and affection. As she tiptoes on her feet and softly presses her moist lips to my cheek, my heart stops beating.
"Apparently we need time, Lorenzo. But I'll wait for you," she whispers to my ear, "As you'll wait for me."
"And then we'll be together forever," I take her into my arms, hugging her tightly.
I'm so happy. But also determined to make the best of myself, for her.
For us.
For the next six months, I prepare myself for absolute hell. At first it seemed like pure torture, but I put my mind and determination into it. For the first month, I was sent to the national training camp for werewolves. As much as I hate to admit it, I've never taken such type of training in my whole life, because I thought that wasn't necessary since we're a prestigious family. My family didn't oppose much when I said I would be gone for months, only Albera expressed her worries and told me to be careful. At the training camp, we have to spend our every moment by following a schedule, in order to achieve perseverance, discipline and patience. People here are also trained to do meditation, which helps to discover the soul and control their emotions which are very significant. I kept being fed with new things and techniques and tried my best to do things right. A sudden burst of gas hit my senses, making me cough vigorously as I was distracted. Wolverine gas attacks aren't compl
"Your dinner is ready, Alphaess," Maria bows her head, worriedly looking at Nyx. Nyx says nothing and continues to lie on her bed motionless. She has a lot going on her mind, and she doesn't even want to figure it out. A great power comes with great offerings and regrets, it never comes alone. Right now she's wishing someone will come forward to save her from this mess, and she can relax in an island or something like that in the meantime. What a bizarre wish, she laughs at her helplessness. "Alphaess," Maria addresses again, trying to keep her tone polite. Nyx glances at her, aware of her presence and mindset. She doesn't feel like eating or doing anything, but she still gets up hoping food will help remove her distress for a while. "Any letters for me, Maria?" "No, Alphaess."Nys wonders if Lorenzo heard about the war too. That will only cause him to worry about her and interrupt his training, which she doesn't wish for. She sighs, preparing her mind to be strong, she's not som
When Nyx comes back to her den, she is immediately notified about an emergency meeting. She lets out a sigh and slips into some comfortable clothes within a few moments, the traditional clothes are such a hassle. She pauses the moment she enters the meeting room, there is a person she never thought she would see again. Her younger brother Walker is standing in the corner of the room, looking like a completely changed man. His hair has grown down his shoulders within a few months, his physique has become bulky and powerful. "Heya, sister," he waves his hand, smirking. "I thought you left to join the warrior squad," Nyx scoffs, finding it hard to believe. "How come I didn't know you're such a great actor, Walker?"He laughs maniacally, making everyone present at the hall question his sanity. "Because you were dumb, sister. A neglected daughter who was always obsessed with fucking witchcraft, craving for revenge. You got your throne, but at what cost? All of this is gonna be annihilat
"I can't believe you're here!" Nyx mutters hugging me tightly, clasping into my chest. I gently pat her head, brimming with happiness. Honestly I had to come here, I couldn't concentrate even for a bit in the training after hearing all the war news. I used her name to enter the pack, saying I had urgent personal business with the Alphaess. Even though the area looks calm and normal, it feels like the calm before the storm. "Come to my den," Nyx holds my hand tightly and starts running swiftly. Can't help but love seeing her excitement, while the other people are looking at us with wide eyes, must be a rare sight for them. Nyx closes the door after we enter the room, eyeing me upside down, like I'm an experiment. "You gained a lot of muscles," she softly punches my biceps. "The training was pretty harsh there," I reply, but that was all worth it even after not being finished. I step forward and gently take her face in my hands, looking dearly into her eyes. "Are you ok
The werewolves are having a festival downside the enormous hill. And here I sit alone, in front of a mythic cave above the hill top. And watch them happily dance surrounding the fire wearing their traditional wolf coats. Some of them are sitting, lying on the tables at the corner of the field, drinking and eating till their stomach is almost tearing apart. And some of them are having a mischievous fight beside the huge barbecue stake of different animals meat, maybe their fight is due to who would get the biggest chunk. And for some reason I'm not joining these seemingly contented people. I'm just trying to figure out all the different combination of emotions I'm feeling and having troubles deciding whether I should stick to my core or just let my emotions take me over. I know I have lots of responsibilities due to my status, I just don't have anyone who can guide me about that. Yesterday Alpha Vincent, the mighty Blood Moon pack leader, visited our pack and had a small talk with
I spent the next day hovering in the city library, gathering all the information I have access to. To be honest I still haven't fully processed what happened last night. No, it's not like I haven't had company of any woman in my entire life, but the number is very few. So for a that type of guy, getting a proposal from a girl out of blue surely would strike a nerve. Not just any girl of course, the daughter of the lead Alpha of Blood Moon pack. "I heard her mate rejected her, two years ago," said my friend Andy nonchalantly, he tagged along because he had nothing better to do. While I was crawling in the pile of books and parchments, he fed me up with all kinds of rumors, as he's quite the popular wolf, especially with she-wolves. "The reason was the common trope obviously, that dude had some other chick in love with. And he was very much the dominant, criminal type Alpha, so even his pack committee couldn't do anything about that. I heard Alpha Vincent wasn't around the pack that t
"Now what do we do with her?" Albera looks at Nyx with worried eyes, I know what's going on in her mind. Currently she's lying on my bed, we helped her stitching the leg wound and bandaging it up, it's not that serious so it will heal soon. She's been sleeping for an hour, after being unconscious, I hope she won't misunderstand the situation when she wakes up. "The wolf she fought with is definitely stronger than her," Albera indicates at the wound. "Otherwise she wouldn't have been hurt.""Fought? She could have been attacked.""That maybe the case so, but there's blood stains in her nails and that wouldn't be hers. She injured the other wolf too, but that was stronger so it ran away." I sigh, "The other wolf couldn't be from our pack, could it?" "I don't know that. I don't detect any pheromones from her, must be because of our separate bloodlines."But I can sense her pheromones. Why's that? "Well, you gotta make sure no one comes in your den," Albera alerts me. "And when she w
We are walking side by side quietly through the forest. I chose a route that won't have that much wolves hunting in the way, since that part is kind of abandoned. It's rough to walk through all this branches and bushes, but at least it's safer. Now these are the moments I never thought I'd experience in my life. I had friends, I do have, but I never had someone to feel at my soul, regardless of gender. I was always kind of quiet and calm, but now I feel like I'm enjoying the silence with someone. I look at Nyx, the hood over her head expressing a mysterious aura, expression weary and cold. Maybe I shouldn't find this that much enjoyable, because as much as I can gather, something bad is definitely gonna happen. "It's really quiet," Nyx utters softly, the moonlight shinning on her. We can only hear the breaking sound of dry leaves and brunches, along with night insects. "Yeah, this route is said to abandoned," I nod in affirmation. "Most of the wolves go hunting around the west side
