Hunter-
When I came to, it took me a minute to get my bearings. I had to run a mental run-through of everything I knew, just so I could make sure I didn’t lose my memory again. Then I remembered what I had been doing prior to everything going black on me.
Rather, I remembered what was done to me. Now that I was thinking about it, I felt this burning sensation on my chest. As I focused on the burn, it increasingly became worse.
Tearing at the shirt that I was wearing, I was a bit stunned when it ripped easily. I knew I was strong, but not like this. It had been like ripping paper. Without much, if any, effort the fabric gave way.
Looking down at my chest, I saw a spiral branded on my chest. Touching it with my hand, I expected it to hurt, but it felt like it was already scarred over. With this kind of burn mark, I expected it to take months to heal and scar over.
“Oh good. You are awake.” I heard Artemis’s voice from the door
Kyra-Over the past week, I feel as if things have become more stressful. We have gotten nowhere with Cory. Trav on the other hand has been a big help.He has given us a lot of information about the hunters, including some of their locations. To limit the number of hunters that could potentially attack, Caleb and Nick have been going to these locations to limit the possibility of them attacking us.Being that we didn’t know how many hunters were at each location, my brothers have been helping. It has been mostly Zac who has been the biggest help. We weren’t going to kill them all, well Nick had thought we should, but Trav said there were some werewolves amongst the hunters. They weren’t there on their own accord, so we were going to figure out a way to get them away from the hunters. From everything Trav has told us about the hunters, there were far more hunters than we thought there would be. Alec explained that hunters have been around
Kyra-“Caleb!” I screamed.I was running through a battlefield of some sort, there were bodies everywhere. The war was here, except it wasn’t like the war I was expecting to come. This reminded me a lot of the war that happened nearly two hundred years ago.Looking around, I tried to understand what was going on. I had this undeniable fear that something bad was about to happen to Caleb. Where was he?As I expected, this was the fight that took place against George and all those witches, because there was George across the field. Hunter was with him. My thoughts of finding Caleb fled as this overwhelming urge to go to Hunter crashed into me.Running towards Hunter, so I could help him, the scene changed when I reached him. I must be dreaming, because none of this was making any sense. Hunter was dead, yet I was standing in front of him. He looked different somehow though, like he has been in hell for years.“Little On
Caleb-“How accurate do you think Trav is? This is the third hunter location he has given us, where they barely seem to be a functional base camp for a hunter. There are children here. In all the years I have come across the hunters, I have never come across a child at one.” Zac asked once he finished putting up a barrier around another location.“I don’t know.” I muttered, not really feeling like I wanted to get into it right now.We were running out of time, since leaving Kyra in bed three days ago, after the nightmare she had, we have been going from place to place. We had just a little over two weeks until the hunters were supposed to attack. While I was running on fumes.I was becoming more worried about Kyra as the days went by. There was something about the dream she had, yet refused to tell me about, that wasn’t sitting right with me. Not to mention Alec was still dealing with the kid, who was still at the hospi
Kyra-Sitting in my small library with my mother, Samantha, and Trav, I heard a loud crash coming from the front of the house. My first instinct was that we were being attacked. Throwing the book down, I was reading, I quickly stood from my oversized bag.I was just about to leave the room, but it abruptly opened. Standing in the door, was a very pissed-off, Caleb. Crap. Unlike before, Rex didn’t give me any warning they were back. Caleb’s red eyes were blazing with a burning fire in them.Okay, perhaps not literally, but the way he looked at me, then to Trav, I thought he was going to burn a hole through us. There was no talking myself out of this now, I had to own up to what I have been doing. On the plus side, thanks to my mother’s help, we found a way to return Trav’s wolf to him. Now I just had to keep Caleb from killing him before we had a chance to do so. Stepping between Caleb and Trav, I faced Caleb, standing my ground.
Caleb-Feeling like we got off subject, by a long shot, my gaze kept moving toward Trav. I understood what Kyra had been saying, but that didn’t mean I was okay with him being out and about like this. I still didn’t trust the guy.As if she completely forgot about me still being here, Kyra got busy with her mother as they went through some books. Standing here, I felt like a complete idiot. I know she was blown away by the new development, as was I, but that didn’t mean we had to push the current issue aside.Clearing my throat, I hoped to get her attention. After a few seconds, she looked up at me, which I took the time to glance over at Trav once she did. When I looked back at her, she was also looking at Trav, with a sour expression plastered on her beautiful face.“He stays.” She said, without looking at me again. As if the subject was dropped, she returned to give her attention back to the slew of books that were
Kyra-“Get Zac and Alec.” I told Caleb since I was unable to link with them. What I was about to do, I knew Caleb wouldn’t approve. Which is why I wasn’t going to tell him my plan. One way or the other, I was going to start taking a stand on what I believed was the right thing to do.It didn’t take long for Alec and Zac to arrive. Not even seconds after they arrived, my mother and Rex showed up as well. Now that they were here as well, I felt more comfortable with my plan. Turning towards Zac, I placed my hand on the barrier.I felt it vibrate under my touch, almost as if it wanted to respond to me. It was a weird sensation that traveled all the way to my toes. I could feel the energy that moved through me practically dance.I wasn’t sure if it was the babies or my own body responding, either way, it felt good. Not needing to say a word, Zac moved to the barrier. In a few simple words, the barrier separated, only
Kyra- “Max, do you know who your parents are?” I was careful how I put my question because I wasn’t sure he would get my meaning. “I was created from magic.” Max responded as if it was the easiest thing for him to answer. “Would you mind explaining that?” My mother was the one to ask the question. As if he just realized there were others around, Max turned to look at my mother. He gave her a confused look, then turned to look at my brothers and Caleb. His eyes widened when he saw Caleb. “You have eyes just like mine, except yours are red.” Max said in amazement. “That is right, but would you mind answering the kind lady’s question?” Caleb said, redirecting Max’s attention back to what my mother had asked. “Oh, that is easy.” Max beamed, turning back towards my mother. “A witch was hired by Killian to have me created, so I could be a child for him and his mate. They told me I was a special gift as the moon goddess didn’t allow t
Kyra-“Save it, I don’t want to hear it. I already know. If you so much as try to come near this territory again, I will make sure you see the power I possess. If I so much as sense you near Max, I will make you wish you never crossed my path. Do I make myself clear?” I told them, keeping my voice firm, and filled with the promise I was bestowing upon them. Each one of them nodded their head instantly. Not saying another word, they all turned to leave. Except for the female, who looked longingly towards Max.“I can’t have children. I love him!” The female exclaimed, just before she lunged past me.Not giving her a chance to get close to Max, I reached out to grab her by her hair before she got to far. Pulling back, I sent her flying with all the strength I possessed. Exhilaration filled me at knowing I hadn’t been bluffing when I told Caleb and the others, I was fully capable of taking care of myself, pregnant or
