I sat up strait, my breath catching and my nerves oversensitive. The sound came again, a head slitting howl that made my skin prickle and my breath to catch."Christian! Ember!" Bray shouted, doors slamming. "Ash, get your fucking asses up! Sky, move!" Bray barked and I heard people running around urgently, a thump on the wall, curses and people running scuttling around the halls and rooms.Another howl ripped through the night, making me flinch and throw myself out of bed. I didn't even see the clock as I stumble to the door. The hallway light was on, harsh and bright against my eyes. Bray stood in the hallway, only wearing a pair of sweats. I noticed he too had scars criss-crossing his chest and wondered if it was from him and Ash fighting like Ash and I had last night.Carson tumbled out of the room behind Bray as Sky entered the hallway and tears down the hallway before throwing himself down the stairs. "Irana..." Carson says surprised and stops, looking jittery. "It's nothing to w
I grunt at them and push my face into the pillow. It was too early! It was still night! I draw a deep breath, my ribs pressing into the mattress since I was on my stomach. I let out a small half huff, half groan and pull the pillow closer to my face. Another finger is jabbed into my side, harder. I grunt again and fling my arm lazily at them. "Wake up," Ash mutters jabbing my side. "I'm already away," I mumble into the pillow, remembering what had only happened last night. It already felt like a year ago however. Remembering I'd submitted to Ash made me angry. Why hadn't I pushed through? Why did I have to back down. "Get up," Ash says collapsing onto the bed. The bed dips under his weight, making me half roll into him. I make an unimpressed sound, still cuddling my pillow. My hip pressed into Ash's through the blanket. "Get up!" Ash complains jabbing at my ribs. I grumble some nonsense at him before shifting so my head was stuffed under the pillow. "Go away, the suns not up, so n
I leap a fallen log and keep running, feeling body's pressing into my sides. It felt too crowded, too suffocating. I knew this wasn't the whole pack but it felt like too many, too many body's, too much heat, too much fur. I could hear them panting, their barks, whins, yaps, their feet touching the ground, leaves crunching, sticks snapping. Uncomfortable heat pressed into my sides, too many scents made my head spin and the sunlight which pierced though the tress hurt my eyes. Mikki's shoulder rubbed against my ribs and I shy away, wanting to turn and snarl at her but feared I would trip. My shoulder brushes against Vic's, my tail flicks someone's chest and I'm nearly running into Sky's butt. Someone's paw brushes my back ankle and finally pushed over the edge, I turn to snap at them, fur rising. Christian recoils and skids to a halt in front of Ash who collides with him. The pack comes to startled standstill, bodies pressing into each other. Christian drops his head, ears back and sni
Water flicks onto my wrist and onto the back of my neck. I twist my wrist again, forcing the hair tie over my wet hair. It slides off my finger and holds. I lower my hands and look in the mirror. My hair was pulled into the crap bun, still wet. I wore a thin singlet and pyjama pants. I pull in a deep breath before heading down to the kitchen. Ember was in there alone, toast in hand. She looks up at me as I enter. "So you found your way out of the room. For a while I thought you may have got lost in there. My mistake." I ignore her and open the fridge. Cold air floods around my feet making my stomach clench uncomfortable. Finding nothing appealing in there I close the fridge and turn around only to find Bray standing in the door way. He didn't look as angry as I had expected him to be. Instead he looked calm and collected. And somehow that was worse. I say nothing and open the pantry door. I stare at the pancake mixture. I hadn't had pancakes for ages, I was craving them now. "What
Tori and Ally were so silly as wolves. I watched from my bedroom window as they played in the snow outside. They raced over the snow like race horses over a track, or like a grey hound after a rabbit. But they had no goal, no finish. They raced along the tree line, squirmed under a fence then tore across the open ground until they reached the house, disappear around a wall and come back a minute later on the other side before starting all over again, only changing a minor things. How they had that much energy I didn't know. It was almost like someone had given them too much coffee and energy drinks and now they couldn't sit still. Tori and Ally suddenly clash together and I hear them yelping playfully at each other as they crumble into the snow. Movement catches my eyes and I look down to see a tanned wolf skirting the house, keeping out of sight of the other two wolves playing. Embers ears flicker towards them and she freezes, listening to them playing. A few seconds pass before sh
"No!" I shriek staggering into the hallway. "Your hands are cold!" I complain half running half spilling down the hallway. Christian laughs at me. "Really?! I didn't notice!" he says grabbing me with arms that still had water glimmering on them. His cold hands raise goose bumps over my arms and make my stomach feel funny. "Stop! Let me go!" I laugh hitting his arms. I was still naked but I didn't care, I wanted to get away from his cold hands, his cold skin. "No! I told you I'm make you pay!" he grunts as I struggle, nearly choking on his own laughter. We'd been hunting earlier, looking for some pray and a found a river. We'd been following it when I'd playfully bumped Christian. He'd growled semi-playfully, telling me he didn't want me pushing him in the river. 10 minutes later he was climbing out of the river, soaked to the bone. He pulls me to his chest which was still damp. "I just thought I'd give you a nice big hug!" Christian laughs and lifts me of the floor, his arms still
Carson was making something in bowl while Ally and Tori scavenged around the kitchen like vultures. Carson ushers them away half smiling as they giggle and slither away only to come back a second later. Miki's head was resting her arms on her arm which were folded onto the counter top. Ally suddenly spins around, a grin spread across her face. "Hayo!" she sings bubbly. "Hey..." I say frowning at her happiness. Only and Ally and Tori could always be this happy all the time. "Hey!" Carson shouts after Tori as she runs around the bench snickering. Tori laughs and licks what appeared to be chocolate cake mixture off her finger. "Out! Out!" Carson says shooing them out of the kitchen. Both girls laugh and dash out like hyper puppies. "Finally, they're gone!" Miki says exaggerating slightly, a small smile on her face. "They've been at it forever. Sometimes those two are too hyper." I sit at a seat in front of the counter, leaning my chin on a hand. A door opens and a few seconds later E
My house—or should I say my parent's house was on the wolves territories -barely. I look at it from the tree line, remembering how for years I'd sit out on the back porch drinking hot chocolate with a blanket wrapped around my shoulders. I remember how I'd heard the wolves howling some nights, how I'd seen their ghosts dashing silently through the trees. It seemed so long ago. It seemed like that was a life time ago, and in a way it was. I was a wolf now, I wasn't living there. I lay down, watching my mum pottering around in the kitchen. Dark circles were under her eyes, her hair was pulled into a tangled bun and she hadn't worried about dressing nicely. It was painful to watch her. She thought I was dead and was grieving. But most of all I missed her. Ash cocks his head at me but I don't move. Inside I could hear the news over the TV that my mum wasn't even watching. It was talking about me, about how they suspected I was killed by the wolves. Ash lies down next to me so our shou
"Bray" Sky says in a shaky voice. "I think you need to see this"I glance up from the floor, curious as to why Sky sounds so timorous. He was staring at the newspaper, anxiousness clear on his face. Mikki looks up too, cocking her head. I could smell curiosity radiate off her; it filled the air with a musky odour, one which made my nose wrinkle."What?" Bray asks taking the newspaper from Sky's hands. His eyes scan over that paper but his face stays blank. Bray lifts his head after a minute and looks at Mikki. "Go get the rest of the pack, hurry"Mikki bolts from the room, leaving me sitting in front of the scrabble board alone. I glance towards her letters, debating whether or not too look at them, I mean it's not like knowing her letters will help me, but it'd waste time while she rounded up the others. I reach for them, a cheeky smile on my face but I hear Vic chuckle. "Cheater" he comments but says nothing more.
Darkness falls over the mountain, shadows form over the snow and around trees, stretching towards us as we all lay huddled in the snow. We'd been wresting for over an hour -I'd decided that it looked too fun not to join so I'd shifted and tackled Christian when his back was turn. Despite the night settling in, I could see everyone easily, my wolf eyes sharp as a normal wolves would be. Wind blew against my side but I barely noticed with my think pelt keeping me warm. Ally and Tori lye in the pile, still toying with each other like puppy's too awake to sleep but too tied to run around. Christian lay on his back, pawing the air as if could catch the thousands of stars dotting the sky. Mikki rests next to Christian; her eyes closed but awake as she listened to the forest sigh and shiver in the wind. Ember lay a few meters away, watching the forest with restless eyes, she shifted every few minutes, unable to get comfortable. Ash's shoulder burns against mine, his skin searing as it tou
"Just do it" Ash says in voice that is a bit static-y and gruff. I glance at Ash, seeing his sly grin. "Just watch" He tells me and casts a glance toward Christian who was grumbling in the doorway. Christian was pouting and glaring at the floor like it had done something to offend him."This is humiliating" Christian complains and turns around. His face controls in surprise then disbelief. "You're recording this!" Christian then accuses."Yeah, I got to show everyone. Now hurry up," Ash laughs, the edge of impatient lacing his words.Christian glares at the camera then I see him step onto the table, his shoulder slump in defeat. "Is there anything else I can do? Please?" Christian begs glancing around at the curious faces looking at him from around the busy food court. Behind him a lady scowls at Christians back before stalking away."No way" The camera shakes slightly then zooms into Christian's hum
My muscles tense, and my claws dig into the ice. The smell of male wolf fills my nose as I watch the dark grey wolf in front of me slowly stalking. I snarl, my blood running hot and fast in my veins. The wolf lunges forward but I jump aside, my muscles working smoothly so that I was well out of the way by the time the wolf lands.Fast and agile, I turn on the wolf, pouncing onto his shoulder. He stumbles, ankles tripping in the cold snow. Christian's muscles tense under my paws and he turns to snap at me with sharp bark. I bite mockingly at his face before jumping away from him, my weight shifting on my legs like a dancer with ballet moves.Ice clings to my fur, tickling my skin as I move around Christian slowly, stalking him like he was prey. My ear flick towards the sound of something approaching but I don't remove my eyes from the grey wolf.Christian growls, hair raising alone his back and shoulders. His paws sank into the snow silently as we move around each other, his muscles bu
Suddenly the door swings open and light floods over us, exposing us to its harsh glare. We look up startled, Ash growling slightly at the person, still pinning me to the bed with a hand on my stomach. "I'm stealing your girl for 10 minutes, Ash. Irana, I need you" Ember says unfazed despite what was obviously about to happen. I wanted to tell her to go away -using less kind words though. Instead I remove Ash's hand (which he doesn't reject to ....much....) and slide off the bed. I swipe one of Ash's shirts from the floor, ignoring Ash dejected growls. In the hallway I pull the shirt over my head, hoping the shirt wasn't dirty. "Yeah?" I mutter, still irritated that we'd been distracted. "I don't know what I should do" she whispers, making her way to her bedroom. Once inside she looks at me, something haunting her expression. "I want to stay but....You don't know what happened to my sister, do you?" I shake my head, not wanting to talk in case I started yelling at her for annoying me

I pad in, looking at the snow which had come into the house from the wolves' paws. I look up startled as Ember starts shouting, back in her human form, naked on the ground as the wolves shift around her. Somehow it reminded me of when I was attacked, powerless against the wolves with blood on their muzzles. But the wolves weren't going to attack her. They shifted back, fur melting away to reveal skin and flesh. Within seconds bloody, naked bodies were moving towards the stairs silently."What the hell was that Bray! You didn't need to barge in!" Ember screams. She pushed off the floor, immune to her nakedness as she marched over to Bray with fire in her eyes."You're in my pack Ember! You'd do well to remember that" Bray snarls in her face, his face filled with hatred."So?! I'm not a kid! I can do what I like!"I startle as a hand rests on the small of my back, gently guiding me towards the stairs. I look back at Ash but he was too b
I don't know what I expected. Screams? But instead the screaming was growls, and the house became a riot of lights and sound. Lights burned through curtains, feet pounded on the floor as people moved to see what was happening.I stood, frozen in the cold air outside. Images flashed in front of my eyes, of half people half wolves barrelling down the stairs. The image wasn't to warn me, I know, but it didn't stop me from flinching like I was going to feel the impact as the wolf jumped over the stairs and onto the waiting wolves below. The world shifted back to normal just in time for me to see the front door bang on its hinges. I turn to Mikki, wanting to ask her what we should do by her hazel eyes were fixed on the house were wolf shadows danced over the walls and the sound of wolves fighting was emitted.Part of me wanted to join in, to fight with the pack, but the other half wanted flight, to flee from the conflict and destruction.Sadly, neith
I was still in Ash's room when I woke up, he was still beside me breathing softly as he slept. The room was dark and my cheeks were sticky from tears but I pulled myself of Ash carefully and padded over to the door. I glance back to make sure he was still sleeping before heading down stairs. It was just past midnight but that didn't stop me from wondering into the kitchen. The table was empty from all the plates which had disappeared-most likely to the dishwasher- and the chairs were all tucked under the table. There was no evidence from my outburst.I change my mind of the evidence thing when I walk over to the table. In the edge of the table was a pair of scratches from my claws. I run my finger over the grooves and look around for the shattered plate but don't find one.The chair creeks slightly as I sit down heavily. I was surprised to find everything clean and neat. I thought everyone would have left everything out for Carson to clean up in the mo
