SELENA’S POV

I was starving.

Not just for food—but for peace, for clarity, for something that didn’t feel like my entire world was on the brink of collapsing. But first, food. I needed actual food.

I hadn’t eaten in days, and my stomach felt like it was trying to consume itself. If I didn’t get something in me soon, I would probably drop dead—and honestly? That didn’t sound half bad right now.

The Fake Me was dead. She was gone, and Kai had helped me end it. But even as her blood dried under my nails, the anger boiling in my chest refused to settle.

Kai.

His name alone sent a bitter taste of bile crawling up my throat. The guy who was supposed to be my mate. My protector. My everything. And what did he do instead? He kissed a clone. A cheap knockoff. And didn’t even notice the difference.

God, I hated him.

And maybe I hated myself more… for still wanting him despite it all.

“You’re being dramatic,” a voice echoed in my head. A voice I hadn’t heard in weeks.

I froze in the middle of my

SELENA’S POVYou ever had one of those days where everything feels like a cruel joke? Yeah. That was today.I had barely survived yesterday without losing my mind, and now I was about to do something equally stupid—go back to work. Because, apparently, self-destruction was my new favorite hobby.“Don’t overthink it,” Celestia whispered in my head as I stood outside the orphanage, watching the little girl—Sophia, I learned—wave at me with sticky fingers covered in honey.I smiled back and waved, pretending my chest didn’t feel like it was being squeezed. “You’re safe now, okay?”She nodded, her tiny face glowing with more hope than I had felt in years. And damn, if that didn’t hit me right in the stomach.I turned and walked away before the waterworks started. I couldn’t handle emotions right now. Not with everything else hanging over my head.‘Work. Focus on work.’It had been weeks since I last stepped foot in the training ground. The same place where Kai had dumped me when I first a

ELARA’S POVHave you ever had one of those moments where the universe slaps you across the face and then spits in your eye for good measure?Yeah. This was that moment.Except instead of a slap, it felt like someone had butchered me, ripped my soul out, and danced on it while laughing maniacally.Because Selena—stupid, reckless, infuriating Selena—escaped. She freaking escaped!I slammed my hand against the glass table, the crack spreading like spiderwebs under my palm. “You’ve got to be kidding me!”Seraphina tightened around my arm and muttered, “You should’ve killed her when you had the chance.”“Oh, don’t you start,” I snapped, narrowing my eyes as her forked tongue flicked out.“I told you she was dangerous. But did you listen? Nooo,” Seraphina drawled. “You were too busy being proud of yourself.”I swore under my breath and shoved away from the table, pacing to and fro, through the length of the room like a lunatic. No. No, no, no. This wasn’t happening. It couldn’t be happening

SELENA’S POVHave you ever been hit by a truck? Not a literal one. I was really serious—I mean the kind of metaphorical eighteen-wheeler that runs through your life, wrecks your sanity, and leaves you flat on your back, staring at the sky like, well, damn.Yeah. That was this moment.Except instead of tires, the truck was Elara, and instead of just running me over, she reversed to make sure I was completely crushed.“Selena!” Yasmine’s voice broke through the panic swirling in my head. She was sprinting toward me, breathless with her wide eyes like she had seen the devil himself—or herself, in Elara’s case.Behind her, Renn wasn’t far, his eyes flickering between panic and something else—something softer when he looked at Yasmine. Oh. Interesting. But I didn’t have time to tease her about that right now because her next words stole all the air from my lungs.“She’s breaking the bonds!”“What?” My voice cracked, and my wolf, Celestia, panicked inside me. ‘No. Not again.’“It’s Elara! DAMON’S POVIt felt like my heart was ripped out, set on fire, and then shoved back into my chest like it was no big deal. I was choking really on my own breath like my lungs just forgot how to work. Yeah. I had described exactly how I felt at that very moment. Only that, I wasn't choking on air. I was choking on her.I meant Selena. Her scent was still in my nose, all honey and lavenders and—hell. It was messing with my head. Or maybe that was the bond. I had been right with my suspicions about our past bond not completely severed. I had been surprised when I had felt a squeezing pain in my chest, and when she had come, she felt the same pain. Foolish Kai had stopped the bond breaking process somehow, now that was one thing I was grateful for because I still felt it. It was weak and frayed, but still there. It wasn't completely gone. The remaining bond was just like a string tied between us, holding on by the tiniest thread.“She's ours,” Demon growled, pacing in my head like he wo

SELENA’S POVI was drowning. Not in water. No, not even in blood. But in grief—I was drowning in grief. It was thick and suffocating, wrapping around my chest like chains, and refusing to let go. I couldn't breathe in or out. I couldn't think. I couldn't do anything else except let the tears fall. And Goddess, they wouldn’t stop falling. The smell of smoke was still in my nose. It didn’t matter how many times I washed my clothes or scrubbed my skin roughly. It still lingered—reminding me that the packhouse was gone. Burnt to ashes.Gone, just like them.Alpha. Luna. My parents—not by blood but by bond…they were both gone. They were the only people who ever gave a damn about me when no one else did. They had pulled me in from the streets, given me a home, a purpose to continue living, a family. And now they were dead.I curled deeper into the blanket wrapped around me, pulling my knees closer to my chest. The room was too dark, but I didn’t bother turning on the light. What was the poi

KAI’S POVMy mate was losing it.And I was losing my damn mind trying to keep it together also. She was broken. Not the kind of broken you could fix with a hug or some cheesy promise that everything would be okay. No, this was the kind of broken that sank into your bones, refusing to let go. The kind that made you stare at someone you were were supposed to love and see someone else instead. And that someone else was Damon.Selena had been acting weird ever since she woke up. Not just the crying—although that was bad enough to make me feel like my chest was squeezed tight every time I saw her break down—but the way she looked at me.Like I wasn’t even me.She hadd called me Damon. More than once.At first, I thought I had misheard her. I mean, dark magic does things to people, right? Like twisting their minds, making them unable to differentiate between the past and the present. So, I brushed it off. I told myself it was fine. That it would pass. But then she said it again. And this ti

SELENA’S POVI wasn’t supposed to be here.Like, at all.I was supposed to be halfway to wherever Kai was right now, apologizing for mistaking him for Damon earlier, for losing my damn mind and making things awkward. But instead?I was standing right in the middle of Silver Moon territory—the one place I swore I would never go back to without my mate and savior by my side.“What the hell are you doing, Selena?” Celestia hissed in my head, her voice sharp enough to make my head ache. “Turn around. Right now.”“I’m going,” I muttered, even though my feet were glued to the ground. “I’m turning back.”But I wasn’t. Not really.Because no matter how much I hated this place, how much I hated him too, there was something about it, about Damon, that kept pulling me in like I was some stupid moth and he was the damn light.I hated it. But you know what I hated more? Myself. Yes, I hated myself more.“Selena—”“I said I’m going!” I snapped, spinning around to leave. But then the sight before me

SELENA’S POVI knew she was up to something the second I set my eyes on her.No one with hair that shiny and eyes that innocent could be real—not in this world, not in this pack, and definitely not standing that close to my mate like she belonged there.“Selena, stop staring.” Celestia hisses sharply, her voice ringing my head annoyingly, like she was already tired of me when we had barely made it past breakfast.“I’m not staring,” I muttered, which was a lie, obviously. “I’m…analyzing.”“Analyzing what? The way she’s breathing? The way Kai hasn’t even noticed you’re glaring literal daggers at her back?”I ignored her. Mostly because she was right, but also because Sedna—yes, Sedna, as in some ancient snake-goddess name straight out of a horror movie—was still talking to Kai, and he was still smiling at her like she didn’t make my skin crawl.“She’s suspicious,” I said under my breath, the word curling off my tongue like poison. “She shouldn’t even be here, she should be in her pack.”

  • Moon Fire Reborn    EPILOGUE

SELENA’S POVI stood on the balcony of the Alpha’s quarters, my hands resting on the curve of my swollen belly as the cool breeze kissed my skin. I watched the moon hanging brightly in the night sky, casting a soft silver glow over the Silvermoon pack.I couldn’t sleep—not with the way my wolf kept pacing anxiously in my head and my mate snoring softly beside me. Celestia, as restless as ever, kept nudging me with her thoughts. ‘You need to sit down before you tip over.’ She suggested like she was a fairy godmother.‘I’m fine,’ I shot back, but I wasn’t even really convinced. My back ached all over, my feet were swollen, and this baby—our baby—was practically trying to kick his way out. I glanced behind me, smiling at the sight of Kai sprawled out on the bed. His dark hair was a mess, and his bare chest rose and fell steadily with each breath. My Alpha. My mate. And soon-to-be dad. The thought sent a ripple of excitement and fear through me. What if I messed this up? What if I w

SELENA’S POVRenn sat on the grass floor with his back against the wall. His knees were bent to meet his chest and his elbows rested on them like the weight of the world was pressing down on his shoulders. And honestly? It probably was. I lowered myself beside him so we could be at the same height, and immediately I sat, I felt the cool floor press against my thighs through the thin material of my dress. Kai didn’t look at me right away, but I waited for him to.. I knew better than to rush someone who was grieving. “Hey.” My voice was carefully soft. “You okay?” He scoffed. “Do I look okay?” “Fair point.” I picked at a loose thread on my sleeve, letting the silence stretch just long enough before I added, “But you do look better than you did five minutes ago. That's a huge progress, right?” Renn didn’t laugh, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. “You’re trying too hard.” “Yeah, well, it’s what I do.” I nudged his shoulder with mine. “Someone’s gotta keep you from

KAI’S POVI wasn’t drunk. I wasn't even close to being drunk. But I kind of wished I was—because dealing with Renn right now? Yeah, it was the kind of emotional wreckage I was facing at the moment that made me crave something strong enough to burn down the ache.“Renn,” I said softly, crouching beside him as he slumped against the back wall of the hall. His eyes had red rims around them, his shirt was wrinkled, and his knuckles were bruised probably from punching something he shouldn’t have. Or someone. With Renn, you could never tell.He wiped at his face, but it didn’t help much. “Don’t look at me like that.”“Like what?”“Like I’m pathetic.”“I’m not,” I said, even though he kind of was. “I’m looking at you like you’re a guy who’s hurting. Big difference.”He laughed, but it came out sharp and bitter. “You don’t get it, Kai. You don’t get any of this.”I leaned against the wall beside him, giving him space but not enough to let him feel alone. “So explain it to me.”He turned his

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-SIX

SELENA’S POVDamn it, I was losing my mind. Okay, maybe not in the literal sense, but it sure felt like it. The party was in full swing mode. There were lights illuminating the hall, people dancing carelessly, music vibrating through the ground, and voices blending into a chaotic hum of laughter and chatter. Wolves from every corner of the Silver moon territory were here, dressed to impress, smiling like tonight held all their dreams wrapped up in glitter ribbons. And maybe it did. Because tonight wasn’t just a random party—It was ‘the’ party. The one where celestial bonds would be sealed, mates would be chosen, and vows would be made under the blessing of the Moon Goddess. Also—this party was the one where I would officially be announced as Kai’s… Luna. No pressure, right? I sat on the throne beside Kai, my back so straight it was probably illegal. The chair was huge, carved from dark wood and draped in silver silk that looked like moonlight had been woven into it. It

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE

SELENA’S POVI had no idea what I was doing.Okay, that was a lie.I knew exactly what I was doing. I was taking a risk—no, scratch that—I was diving with my head first into something that could either shatter me or make me whole. And yet, with Kai sitting across from me, his hand holding mine and his eyes pulling me so deep into his world, I couldn’t make myself care about the side effects of all of this. Not when he looked at me like this. Not when his touch made me have goosebumps all over my skin like the air before a storm.I swallowed nothing, staring at the sharp lines of his jaw, the way the moonlight kissed his cheekbones and made his eyes glow brightly. Kai wasn’t perfect. Hell, he wasn’t even close, no one was. But there was something about his imperfections, I meant his invincible scars, his family history, that made me feel safe. And maybe that was dangerous, but I didn’t care.I shouldn't even care about it tonight.“Say it again,” I whispered. His brows furrowed. “Say w

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR

KAI’S POVThe Silvermoon Pack’s village square was jam-packed with people, and for once, I was grateful it wasn’t for a fight. They all stood shoulder to shoulder, my rogues and Silvermoon wolves blending into one ocean of tired faces. Their clothes were stained, some with dirt, others with dried blood, but despite the wreckage the war had left behind, there was something else in the air that was heavier than exhaustion.I sensed hope.I didn’t know what the hell to do with that, though.I stepped forward, clearing my throat to address them all. “First of all—” My voice cracked, and I internally shook my head. ‘Great start, Alpha,’ Nyx mocked. ‘Real inspiring.’I tried again, ignoring him. “First of all,” I said, louder this time, “we won.”That got their attention. The werewolves straightened their backs. Some of them raised their heads higher. I wasn’t sure if it was pride or disbelief that shimmered in their eyes, but it didn’t matter. They were listening.“We won,” I repeated, my

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-THREE

SELENA'S POVWe buried Yasmine under the shade of an ancient oak tree. The shaman said it was the closest spot to the goddess’s light—whatever that meant. I didn’t question his words at all. Not when Renn looked like he was one wrong word away from losing his mind completely. He stood by her grave, silent and pale the whole time, his hands shaking as he placed a white lily on the mound of fresh loamy soil. The rest of us stood back, giving him space to mourn his mate because It didn’t feel right to interrupt his grieving moment, but at the same time, I wanted to say something, or anything to make it better.I didn’t, though.Because nothing would ever make him feel better. The shaman, the old man with silver braids and piercing green eyes, hovered around nearby. His staff sank slightly into the ground as he stepped forward, clearing his throat before he spoke. “Renn,” he said softly, “is there anything else you wish to ask before we seal her spirit’s path?”He didn’t answer at first.

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-TWO

SELENA'S POVI didn’t even know what to feel now that the war was finally over. The battlefield that had once vibrated with screams, roars, and explosions of magic, was now eerily silent. It was too silent. The atmosphere now felt heavier than it should. Every air that I inhaled was thick with the scent of smoke, blood, and something more worse. Grief took over the whole atmosphere.I turned around slowly, my boots sinking into the mud that had mixed with blood and shattered remains of dark spells. My heart pounded in my chest as my gaze swept over the entire battlefield. Bodies laid scattered across the ground, some were our friends, and some foes, but they were all lifeless. I came to the conclusion that this wasn't a victory—it was survival. And barely that because we were the only three people that survived. All other soldiers, who were probably husbands and fathers, had all laid their lives down for me.I saw Renn on his knees, hunched over Yasmine’s pale and broken body like he

NARRATEDDamon didn’t see it coming at all.His aim was at her because one moment Selena had turned her back, her focus now locked on Elara. But in the next moment, when he lunged forward like an unchained beast with desperation burning in his eyes, Kai met him with a faster energy.Their bodies collided with a bone-crunching impact, and the ground made a thud sound beneath their weights. Damon roared, his dark magic losing its control within him, but Kai met him blow for blow, his claws ripping through Damon's fur and flesh like they were paper.“You’re done!” Kai growled angrily, his voice coming out with a furious thone as he grinded his teeth against each other.Damon grinned despite the blood dripping from his mouth. “Not yet.”He shoved Kai off him, sending him flying backwards, but Kai was already moving again. His wolf surged forward, becoming wild as it slammed into Damon before he could fully recover.Selena turned at the direction of the scuffling sound, her chest tightenin
