KAI’S POV

I should have shut her up when I had the chance.

No, seriously, Selena had been going on and on about Sedna for days now, and honestly? It was starting to feel like nails scraping against the inside of my skull. It was getting really annoying.

At first, it was cute. The way her nose scrunched up whenever Sedna did so much as breathed near me. The way she clung to my arm like she was marking her territory. It was cute, and yeah, I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it a little. It meant she had picked me over Damon, and if there was one thing my wolf loved more than ripping throats, it was winning.

But then it stopped being cute.

The jealousy stopped being adorable. The way Selena hovered and snapped, narrowing her eyes at Sedna like she would physically tear her apart if I gave her the go-ahead was getting unbearable.

She was now obsessive. Because Sedna was now all she talked about.

“Sedna is dangerous.”

“Sedna is lying.”

“Sedna is this, Sedna is that…”

“Sedna is secre

KAI’S POVThe second he opened his filthy mouth to speak gibberish, I should have punched him. No, seriously. If there was ever a time to throw fists instead of words, it was now. Because standing in the middle of the training field, surrounded by the rest of my pack—emphasis on my pack—and hearing Jared sneer, “Maybe Selena needs a real mate,” made my fingers fold into a ball and my wolf snapped his teeth like he was seconds away from taking over. But I didn’t punch him despite the need to. It wasn't the right time yet.Because as much as I wanted to wipe that irritating smug look off his ugly face, I needed to keep my head clear. I was the Alpha. I had a war to prepare for. I couldn’t afford to lose control now, not when my pack was already looking at me like I had lost it.“Say that again,” I said in a low voice that sharpened every hearing sense. But Jared didn’t flinch. Of course, he didn’t. He was bigger than most of the pack youths, older than most of the soldiers, the command

SELENA’S POVIf there was one thing I knew for sure, it was that—nobody was going to stop me, not even Kai.No, really. If someone had handed me a big, red, flashing sign that said, “Danger: Do Not Enter This Forest Unless You Want to Die,” I still wouldn’t have listened. Because I was stubborn like that. Stupid too, apparently. But mostly? I was angry. The kind of anger that burned so hot that it felt cold. The kind that made my wolf, Celestia, growl in my head and whisper things like, “Rip her throat out,” and, “End her before she ends us.”So yeah, maybe going back to the exact spot where I got bitten by Sedna The Snake wasn’t exactly the smartest move, but hey—revenge didn’t exactly come with a handbook.“You’re doing this without Kai, we agreed to let him know, Selena,” Celestia said, her voice sharp like my claws. “You’re insane.”“I’m focused,” I snapped back, pushing through the narrow bathe between bushes. Branches scratched at my skin, but I didn’t stop. “I’m done waiting fo

KAI’S POVSelena was missing. Not just the “gone for a walk” type of missing. Not even the “taking some time off to cool down” type of missing. No, I meant she had been missing for three days now—three freaking days—and every second of searching for her felt like someone was slowly twisting a knife into my stomach.Even my wolf, Nyx, wasn’t handling it well either. And the was past of it all was that, we only had one more night to the full moon? How could a battle commence without the reason for the war in the first place be present?“She’s dead,” he growled in my head for the hundredth time today as I pushed my way through some underbrush in the woods, branches snapping under my boots in the process. “I can feel it.”“She’s not dead,” I snapped back, not wanting to believe his words.“You don’t know that.”“You don’t know that either!”His grumble echoed in my chest, vibrating through my ribs. Nyx wasn’t usually this dramatic or emotional, but there was always something about Selena

SELENA’S POVI wasn't exactly sure of how long I stood there, staring at the blood stained ground, but I knew it was long enough for the energy in the air to slowly die down and the flames to dim quietly. My heart was still racing, pounding to be precise. It was hammering so hard in my chest I swore it was trying to break free from the rib cage, but my mind? My mind was blank. No, not blank—it was numb. The vines that had strangled Seraphina's scaly body were now darkened by ash and stained with her venom. But she was gone. I didn’t need to see her crawling away to know it because I had let her go on purpose.“Coward,” Celestia sneered in my head, her voice sharp like broken glasses.“She wasn’t worth it,” I shot back at her, shaking the blood off my fingertips.“She’ll come back. Stronger. Letting her go was a mistake.”“Let her come back stronger, Celestia, because so will I.”My wolf didn’t argue, but her silence said more than words ever could.I exhaled shakily, finally daring t

ELARA’S POVI didn’t know which one was more ridiculous. Was it the fact that Seraphina actually thought she could deceive me, or the fact that she failed so miserably in front of me.Like, really? Was this how powerless we were becoming? or how low we were going?Seraphina was supposed to be my winning card during battle, my secret weapon to ruin Kai’s pack from the inside before the war, but instead, my snake puppet had messed it all up. Useless!I could feel that familiar irritation biting against the insides of my skin, and crawling up my spine as I watched her stammer like some terrified little rodent. Her failure was practically screaming at me, and I had no patience for it.Seraphina was sitting just an arm's length away from me, muttering all sorts of messy excuses as she tried to justify her existence. But none of it made sense. None of her excuses mattered. She had one job—one freaking job! Wreck Kai’s pack from the inside. And what did she do? She couldn’t even seduce hi

KAI’S POVI didn’t know whether to worship her or run for my life.Because Selena wasn’t just the girl I kissed last night. She was something else entirely now. She was divine and untouchable. And me?I was still standing there. I meant somewhere in between awe and confusion, trying to figure out if I should bow or apologize for even daring to touch her.“Dude,” Nyx groaned in my head. “You’re acting like a lost puppy,” he said in a sharp tone that was layered with just enough humor to make me roll my eyes.“I kissed a goddess,” I muttered out loud, walking around the edge of the open air training grounds.Nyx snorted. “Correction—you kissed Selena. You need to stop acting like she is about to strike you with lightning.”“You saw what she did, Nyx,” I shot back, running my ten fingers through my hair. “She literally glowed. Like… like a damn star exploded inside her.”“But she is still Selena.”I didn’t answer him. My mind kept replaying the moment she came out from the ground. The

SELENA’S POVHave you ever gotten that sickening kind of feeling where you think the universe was playing some sick joke on you? Like, the kind of tiring feeling that no matter how hard you fought, something, or perhaps someone, would always be there to knock you back down? Yeah, exactly. That was how I felt when I woke up this morning.Except in the real sense, it wasn’t just the universe playing games with you, It was the freaking Moon Goddess herself.“So she planned it all?” Celestia asked, hissed inside me before I could even respond. “The betrayal. The heartbreak. All of it. So she had set us up to bleed, just to see if we would rise?”I clenched my fists so tight that my claws dug into my palms, sharp enough to make me bleed. Very well. I needed the sting. I needed the anger. I needed anything to distract the sick feeling crawling under my skin.“She wanted us to suffer,” I muttered, pacing back and forth across the training grounds that I somehow found myself in. DAMON’S POVHave you ever stared at the ruins and wreckage of something you built with your own very hands and thought—yeah, this is fine?Have you?Well, that was exactly how I felt right now, sitting at the head of a massive mahogany table in the war room, surrounded by traitors, backstabbers, and opportunists who would stab me the second I turned my back. And yet, here I was, gritting my teeth and pretending like this whole gathering wasn’t one wrong move away from collapsing on my head.Because Selena screwed me.Not literally. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if she screwed me—that would have been preferable. But no, she screwed me in the worst way possible—by rejecting me. By breaking the bond I thought would keep her power, keep her under my thumb.“Told you she wouldn’t crawl back,” Demon growled in my head, sounding way too sarcastic for a wolf that was supposed to have my back.“Shut up,” I snapped out loud before I could stop myself.A few of the elders flinched. • Moon Fire Reborn    EPILOGUE

SELENA’S POVI stood on the balcony of the Alpha’s quarters, my hands resting on the curve of my swollen belly as the cool breeze kissed my skin. I watched the moon hanging brightly in the night sky, casting a soft silver glow over the Silvermoon pack.I couldn’t sleep—not with the way my wolf kept pacing anxiously in my head and my mate snoring softly beside me. Celestia, as restless as ever, kept nudging me with her thoughts. ‘You need to sit down before you tip over.’ She suggested like she was a fairy godmother.‘I’m fine,’ I shot back, but I wasn’t even really convinced. My back ached all over, my feet were swollen, and this baby—our baby—was practically trying to kick his way out. I glanced behind me, smiling at the sight of Kai sprawled out on the bed. His dark hair was a mess, and his bare chest rose and fell steadily with each breath. My Alpha. My mate. And soon-to-be dad. The thought sent a ripple of excitement and fear through me. What if I messed this up? What if I w

SELENA’S POVRenn sat on the grass floor with his back against the wall. His knees were bent to meet his chest and his elbows rested on them like the weight of the world was pressing down on his shoulders. And honestly? It probably was. I lowered myself beside him so we could be at the same height, and immediately I sat, I felt the cool floor press against my thighs through the thin material of my dress. Kai didn’t look at me right away, but I waited for him to.. I knew better than to rush someone who was grieving. “Hey.” My voice was carefully soft. “You okay?” He scoffed. “Do I look okay?” “Fair point.” I picked at a loose thread on my sleeve, letting the silence stretch just long enough before I added, “But you do look better than you did five minutes ago. That's a huge progress, right?” Renn didn’t laugh, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. “You’re trying too hard.” “Yeah, well, it’s what I do.” I nudged his shoulder with mine. “Someone’s gotta keep you from

KAI’S POVI wasn’t drunk. I wasn't even close to being drunk. But I kind of wished I was—because dealing with Renn right now? Yeah, it was the kind of emotional wreckage I was facing at the moment that made me crave something strong enough to burn down the ache.“Renn,” I said softly, crouching beside him as he slumped against the back wall of the hall. His eyes had red rims around them, his shirt was wrinkled, and his knuckles were bruised probably from punching something he shouldn’t have. Or someone. With Renn, you could never tell.He wiped at his face, but it didn’t help much. “Don’t look at me like that.”“Like what?”“Like I’m pathetic.”“I’m not,” I said, even though he kind of was. “I’m looking at you like you’re a guy who’s hurting. Big difference.”He laughed, but it came out sharp and bitter. “You don’t get it, Kai. You don’t get any of this.”I leaned against the wall beside him, giving him space but not enough to let him feel alone. “So explain it to me.”He turned his

SELENA’S POVDamn it, I was losing my mind. Okay, maybe not in the literal sense, but it sure felt like it. The party was in full swing mode. There were lights illuminating the hall, people dancing carelessly, music vibrating through the ground, and voices blending into a chaotic hum of laughter and chatter. Wolves from every corner of the Silver moon territory were here, dressed to impress, smiling like tonight held all their dreams wrapped up in glitter ribbons. And maybe it did. Because tonight wasn’t just a random party—It was ‘the’ party. The one where celestial bonds would be sealed, mates would be chosen, and vows would be made under the blessing of the Moon Goddess. Also—this party was the one where I would officially be announced as Kai’s… Luna. No pressure, right? I sat on the throne beside Kai, my back so straight it was probably illegal. The chair was huge, carved from dark wood and draped in silver silk that looked like moonlight had been woven into it. It

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE

SELENA’S POVI had no idea what I was doing.Okay, that was a lie.I knew exactly what I was doing. I was taking a risk—no, scratch that—I was diving with my head first into something that could either shatter me or make me whole. And yet, with Kai sitting across from me, his hand holding mine and his eyes pulling me so deep into his world, I couldn’t make myself care about the side effects of all of this. Not when he looked at me like this. Not when his touch made me have goosebumps all over my skin like the air before a storm.I swallowed nothing, staring at the sharp lines of his jaw, the way the moonlight kissed his cheekbones and made his eyes glow brightly. Kai wasn’t perfect. Hell, he wasn’t even close, no one was. But there was something about his imperfections, I meant his invincible scars, his family history, that made me feel safe. And maybe that was dangerous, but I didn’t care.I shouldn't even care about it tonight.“Say it again,” I whispered. His brows furrowed. “Say w

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-FOUR

KAI’S POVThe Silvermoon Pack’s village square was jam-packed with people, and for once, I was grateful it wasn’t for a fight. They all stood shoulder to shoulder, my rogues and Silvermoon wolves blending into one ocean of tired faces. Their clothes were stained, some with dirt, others with dried blood, but despite the wreckage the war had left behind, there was something else in the air that was heavier than exhaustion.I sensed hope.I didn’t know what the hell to do with that, though.I stepped forward, clearing my throat to address them all. “First of all—” My voice cracked, and I internally shook my head. ‘Great start, Alpha,’ Nyx mocked. ‘Real inspiring.’I tried again, ignoring him. “First of all,” I said, louder this time, “we won.”That got their attention. The werewolves straightened their backs. Some of them raised their heads higher. I wasn’t sure if it was pride or disbelief that shimmered in their eyes, but it didn’t matter. They were listening.“We won,” I repeated, my

SELENA'S POVWe buried Yasmine under the shade of an ancient oak tree. The shaman said it was the closest spot to the goddess’s light—whatever that meant. I didn’t question his words at all. Not when Renn looked like he was one wrong word away from losing his mind completely. He stood by her grave, silent and pale the whole time, his hands shaking as he placed a white lily on the mound of fresh loamy soil. The rest of us stood back, giving him space to mourn his mate because It didn’t feel right to interrupt his grieving moment, but at the same time, I wanted to say something, or anything to make it better.I didn’t, though.Because nothing would ever make him feel better. The shaman, the old man with silver braids and piercing green eyes, hovered around nearby. His staff sank slightly into the ground as he stepped forward, clearing his throat before he spoke. “Renn,” he said softly, “is there anything else you wish to ask before we seal her spirit’s path?”He didn’t answer at first.

  • Moon Fire Reborn    CHAPTER NINETY-TWO

SELENA'S POVI didn’t even know what to feel now that the war was finally over. The battlefield that had once vibrated with screams, roars, and explosions of magic, was now eerily silent. It was too silent. The atmosphere now felt heavier than it should. Every air that I inhaled was thick with the scent of smoke, blood, and something more worse. Grief took over the whole atmosphere.I turned around slowly, my boots sinking into the mud that had mixed with blood and shattered remains of dark spells. My heart pounded in my chest as my gaze swept over the entire battlefield. Bodies laid scattered across the ground, some were our friends, and some foes, but they were all lifeless. I came to the conclusion that this wasn't a victory—it was survival. And barely that because we were the only three people that survived. All other soldiers, who were probably husbands and fathers, had all laid their lives down for me.I saw Renn on his knees, hunched over Yasmine’s pale and broken body like he

NARRATEDDamon didn’t see it coming at all.His aim was at her because one moment Selena had turned her back, her focus now locked on Elara. But in the next moment, when he lunged forward like an unchained beast with desperation burning in his eyes, Kai met him with a faster energy.Their bodies collided with a bone-crunching impact, and the ground made a thud sound beneath their weights. Damon roared, his dark magic losing its control within him, but Kai met him blow for blow, his claws ripping through Damon's fur and flesh like they were paper.“You’re done!” Kai growled angrily, his voice coming out with a furious thone as he grinded his teeth against each other.Damon grinned despite the blood dripping from his mouth. “Not yet.”He shoved Kai off him, sending him flying backwards, but Kai was already moving again. His wolf surged forward, becoming wild as it slammed into Damon before he could fully recover.Selena turned at the direction of the scuffling sound, her chest tightenin
