SELENA’S POV

Now before I begin the narration, let me introduce this part of the story by saying: I was not prepared for what the Moon Goddess had in store for me. One second, I was perfectly fine—well, not fine-fine because Kai had been acting like a complete weirdo after our last kiss, but I was still manageable fine. And the next second?

I was in a void. A freaking void! Like, void-void. Black nothingness. No stars, no ground, no “Welcome to the afterlife” signs. Just… emptiness.

“Hello?” My voice echoed, which was weird because there was literally nothing around to echo off of.

I got no answer. Not from my wolf, not from anyone.

Panic swirled up my chest, itching at my throat. “Celestia? Where the hell are you?!”

All I got was silence.

Oh, very great. No wolf, no powers, and no clue of what was happening. I would 10/10 not recommend this experience to anyone.

I tried to take a step forward—or at least what I thought was forward—only to feel like I was drunk with strong whiskey. E

SELENA’S POVLet me back up for a second. I had decided officially that this was hell. Not the fire-and-brimstone kind with little red dudes poking you with pitchforks. No. This was worse.Because this was my own personal horror movie, and I was the only actor.I thought waking up in a blank space was bad. I thought seeing Kai kiss some fake version of me was worse. But this? This was a whole new level of “nope, I’m out.”When I woke up—or at least, I thought I woke up—I was in my room. My actual room. My bed, my stupid fairy lights, even the half-empty bag of chips I had forgotten about on my desk.“Was it… a dream?” I whispered, my voice shaky as hell.I sat up, looking around like a psycho trying to find the hidden cameras. Nope, everything seemed normal. The sunlight poured through my curtains, the smell of pine wood and lavender from my diffuser wafted through the air. All good. All fine. But then, a knock came at my door.“Selena, are you up?”It was my mom’s voice. Or at least,

KAI’S POVI was in my cabin, sitting on the edge of my couch, staring at her.I meant Selena—or at least, the version of her that made my wolf go completely wild.“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked, a soft laugh escaping her lips. She tilted her head, her hair shining in the dim light like some cheesy rom-com heroine.“I’m just… trying to figure you out,” I said, forcing out a smirk. Though inside? Oh, I was losing my mind.‘Nyx, you sure this is really not our mate?’ I asked for the fiftieth time today.Nyx growled dangerously in the back of my mind. ‘What can I say? I am fed up with arguing over that same question. Since she smells like her, she feels like her. Then it’s her, idiot.’‘Yeah? Well, she also acts like a completely different person,’ I shot back. ‘Selena doesn’t sit on my lap every five seconds or touch me like—’“Earth to Kai?” Her voice snapped me out of it.She was standing in front of me now, way too close. ELARA’S POVStanding in my dimly lit cavern, I couldn’t help but smirk. Selena’s screams echoed around me like a symphony. It was loud, piercing, and full of desperation, but it was just so melodious in my ears.“Pathetic,” I muttered, leaning against the blackened wall. My fingers brushed along the edge of the mirror’s shimmering surface where I had the view of Selena’s futile struggles in the void I trapped her soul into. “All that big talk about being the chosen Luna, and now look at you. A broken little doll trapped in my playhouse.”Selena’s fiery eyes glared at me through the rippling darkness, her fists pounding against the invisible walls of the void. Every hit she made sent tiny sparks scattering into the room like dying stars. That was cute.“Elara!” she screamed, her voice rough from hours of yelling. “You’ll regret this! You can’t—”“Oh, I can’t?” I interrupted, tilting my head mockingly. “I already have, babe. You’re the one stuck in a magical void while I’m out here… thr

The void wasn’t just a place; it was a prison, a suffocating bubble of nothingness that pressed in on me from all sides.“Elara!” I screamed again, pounding my fists against the invisible barrier. My voice came out raw, hoarse from hours—days? Weeks?—of yelling. “When I get out of here, I’m going to—”“Oh, honey,” Elara’s voice cooed smoothly into the emptiness like a snake. “You’re not getting out. Ever. Save your energy for crying. It’s more entertaining for me.”Her laughter was like nails on a chalkboard, scraping against my nerves. I hated her. Hated her smug, selfish tone, and her obnoxious grin. But most of all, I hated the helplessness that clawed at my chest every second I was stuck in here.I slid to the nonexistent floor, cradling my knees. I hated the quiet moments too, when Elara wasn’t tormenting me, and it was just… me. Alone with my thoughts, on

My eyes roamed around, trying to gauge where I was.I was lying on a pile of stones; the hardness of it pierced into my skin. My breath quickened. What was going on?I squirmed, trying to sit up. It was only then that I realized my arms were tightly bound to my body. In a panic, I brought my gaze to my legs. They were tied together. My heart rate quickened, and despite the chill in the air, sweat trickled down my spine.“HELLO,” I called out, hoping there was somebody, anybody out there who could get me out of this. Silence responded back to me.With wide eyes, my chest heaved up and down in panic as a chill ran through my entire being at the thought that I was in serious danger. Not only that, I couldn't feel it. The Moon Goddess meddled with your life because she has an appetite for chaos. Honestly, I’m starting to think she binge-watches reality TV in her spare time.”I groaned, running a hand through my hair. The artifact which had an appearance of a smooth obsidian stone sparkling with glowing silver runes felt warm in my hands, vibrating like it had a heartbeat. I had gone back the next morning to where Silas almost got us killed. I really had no reason at all for reaching the shrine, but maybe that soft part of me wanted to be sure I hadn't killed my own father. And to my relief, it was as though the event never happened because the clearing had been so clean that I could swear it was a forbidden land. But on my way back, my eyes had caught this very artifact tucked away in a hidden area back at th
