“The difference between an hunter and a Hunter is the hunted”
“
It all started five thousand years ago after a god visited the mortal world in the guise of an injured man, he appeared before a couple who were out hunting late into the night, out of fear for the unknown the husband suggested that they leave as soon as possible lest the creature that injured the man comes after them as well but the female species are totally filled with love and compassion, after so much deliberation the wife was able to convince her husband to stay and help the injured man and they began to tend to his injuries, after patching him up he suddenly revealed his identity as a god and as a reward for her compassion he blessed the wife with the gift of archery. That gift of archery granted her eyesight that rivaled that of an eagle and it also granted her the ability to shoot arrows that flew like streaks of light, allowing her to kill her targets even before they could react.
Three months later…
The sun was high in the sky but a gloomy atmosphere was present in the forest as fog filled the air limiting the vision of a regular human to little more than five metres, but in this forest was a young woman who could see well beyond a kilometer, a bow hung on her shoulder and a quiver filled with arrows lay across her back, her brown curly shoulder length hair was packed into a ponytail, her red lips were curled upward in a slight smile as she walked forward leisurely as though this was just an evening stroll, right beside her was a man who appeared to be at the peak of his youth, he was of average height and build, he held tightly in his right hand a spear and a long sword and a short sword sat comfortably on his waist but the man himself did not seem so comfortable as he glanced around nervously which was an absolute contrast to the woman beside him who appeared carefree.
“Amelia I really think we should go back home, I don’t feel good about this expedition.” Elliot said nervously
“Don’t worry, there is nothing within a kilometer radius.” Amelia replied sweetly and Elliot sighed
“Ever since you got those all seeing eyes of yours you’ve grown overconfident that you seemed to abandon your sixth sense.” Elliot complained bitterly as he recalled the night she gained her powers
“First of all they aren’t all seeing and secondly my eyes are my first sense it is very normal for me to trust them more than my sixth invisible sense.” Amelia with a roll of her eyes
“Well to be honest, I trust my instincts more than your all seeing eyes and right now I feel as though a huge monster is looking at me from within the fog.” Elliot said as he took a nervous glance around him
“You’re too superstitious Elliot, monsters are just old wives tales told to scared kids.” Amelia said with a chuckle and Elliot frowned slightly
“If I’m too superstitious, how about the god that gave you your powers, is he also a myth?” Elliot said with a sneer and Amelia was rendered speechless, the awkward silence persisted for a few moments then all of a sudden the earth began to tremble beneath them, it was lightly at first but the intensity began increasing till it got to a stage where they couldn’t even stand firm and they fell to the ground, the tremor continued for a few minutes then all of a sudden the ground erupted several metres from their current position and a giant creature crawled out of the earth, its massive body snapped trees in half and the earth was upturned with every step it took, the creature looked like a centipede but was a million times larger as its length reached almost a hundred metres and a height of about twelve metres, its spiky legs stabbed into the earth as it skittered about.
“Did I just speak a monster into existence?” Elliot said in a daze as they stared at the monster
“Run!!!” they both screamed as they snapped back to reality and at this same moment the centipede noticed them and it instantly took off in pursuit. Elliot held Amelia’s hand as he ran as fast as his feet and lungs would allow, twisting and turning between trees trying to use the environment to his advantage but that barely did anything to slow down the colossus monster that was hot on their tails.
“Let’s split up.” Elliot suddenly said as they ran
“Are you crazy?” Amelia exclaimed
“Don’t worry, I’ll distract it while you use the opportunity to take it down with your arrows.” Elliot explained but Amelia shook her head in denial
“That won’t do, you’ll be in too much danger.” She retorted
“We’re already in grave danger as it is, this is our best option.” Elliot said in frustration, Amelia thought for a few moments before agreeing with a sigh, they let go off each other’s hands and suddenly ran in opposite directions leaving the monster temporarily at loss.
“Hey worm-head, come catch me if you can.” Elliot shouted while waving his spear, the monster didn’t understand his words but it understood his taunting and took off after Elliot who already resumed running, Amelia took this chance and began firing arrows, like streaks of light the arrows the arrows flew but the moment they touched its exoskeleton there was the sound of colliding metals before the arrows snapped in half and Amelia cursed under her breath, she nocked and fired again, this time she aimed for the tiny gaps that existed between each segment but no matter how many arrows she fired it made almost no difference and at this moment despair creped upon her as she realized that this monster was beyond what she was capable of killing and she began to regret a lot of things.
Elliot kept running but at the same time he tried to keep track of Amelia with the corner of his eyes, when he saw her lower her bow with a downcast gaze he surmised that her arrows were useless and he took a long sharp breath.“Amelia run, escape back to the village.” He shouted but that slight distraction cost him everything else as the monster caught up with him and with a swipe of its claws it grabbed him, being a man who won’t resign to fate easily, Elliot roared as he hurled his spear with every ounce of strength left in him, the spear surged forward gracefully, the centipede wanted to dodge but it was too late as the spear lodged itself into one of its beady eyes causing a black fluid to gush out like a fountain, the monster roared in agony causing it to clap its pincer tightly and trash around violently. Amelia felt her knees go weak as she saw what was going on and was unable to do anything about it, tears streamed down her face freely when suddenly an idea popped into her m
“To kill or save, the future cannot be delayed but history also cannot be denied”“Mom, what later happened to Amelia?” Marcus asked halfheartedly as he had begun to fall asleep after listening to his bedtime story“Amelia gave birth to three children which developed into the three major families we have in the clan now, the Fault family which your father belongs to, the Fillion family which I came from and the Fara family which your best friend Jasmine belong to.” Genevieve explained with a smile as she tucked her son into bed“Tomorrow is my seventh birthday what kind of blessing do you think I’ll get from the Hunter god?” Marcus asked but this time his words had more spirit in them“The blessing of the Hunter god is totally unpredictable so we can only wait.” Genevieve replied“Okay, goodnight mom.” Marcus said with a yawn“Goodnight honey.” Genevieve replied as she switched off his lamp and headed out to the sitting room to meet her husband who was sitting on the sofa with his leg
“The thrill of divine surprise exceeds the human minds, they are stunned when history is made and they are stupefied when a legend is born”The cock crowed loudly as a symbol of the breaking dawn, the sweet melodies of birds filled the air as they flew out of their nests seeking to make the best of this new day. The sun glowed warmly and the Hunter kingdom gave off an ancient feeling of the medieval era, even though so much time has passed and the rest of the world has improved in terms of civilization, the kingdom remained unaffected by the passage of time.Atop a small his were several houses but there wasn’t anything special about them as there were several of such houses along the hill and everywhere else across the kingdom but one thing did seem peculiar in one of the houses as a seven year old boy could be seen running around the house in glee, his hair was in a mess and he was still clad in his pajamas showing that he just got out of bed. A young woman walked out of a room that
“If it’s a blessing then it’s not a misfortune and if it’s a misfortune then it’s unavoidable”Apart from the people watching the scene in the temple’s main hall a few others were also watching secretly, the king was watching from his palace through a magic mirror while all five utmost exalted elders were in another room within the temple also watching through a magic mirror, despite the difference in location they all had one thing in common and it was their stunned expression.Sword-saint Predator was feeling amazed at first when eight runes lit up but couldn’t help but feel a bit worried when ten runes lit but then all of a sudden twelve runes lit up and now he didn’t know if he should laugh or cry. While everyone was stunned all twelve runes glowed brightly like a miniature sun then all of a sudden the runes went off, it was at this moment everyone snapped out of their daze, something wasn’t right, there was no rune projection or ability impartation which was supposed to occur bef
