CHAPTER SIX

XAVIER'S POV

I strode into the hospital with the confidence of a man who owned everything in his sight. And why not? I practically did. The crisp, sterile smell of the hospital didn’t faze me; I was used to the finest things, and this place needed my money more than I needed their gratitude.

As I entered the meeting room, my eyes immediately locked onto her. Ella. The woman who had haunted my thoughts for years. She looked as stunning as ever, and the sight of her sent a surge of possessive desire through me. I wanted her, plain and simple. I wanted to feel her, to claim her again, and this time, to stay in her life.

Her eyes widened in shock as she recognized me. Good. Let her be surprised. I liked the idea of unsettling her, of making her wonder why I was here. As Mr. Anderson droned on about the charity event, I barely paid attention. My focus was solely on Ella and the way she tried to compose herself.

When Mr. Anderson finally left, the room fell silent, the tension thick between us. Ella looked up at me, her voice steady but her eyes wary.

"What are you looking for, Xavier?"

I took a step closer, invading her personal space just enough to make her feel it. "Isn't it obvious? I’m looking for you, Ella. And I always get what I want."

I watched her eyes flutter, her gaze flickering all over the room in an attempt to not hold eye contact with me. I couldn't help but notice the remarkable glint of shock in her eyes, Ella obviously didn't expect to see me here. I was one of this hospital's most influential sponsors.

I had ordered Mr Anderson to hand over the lead nurse role to Ella. She deserved it, I heard of the way she's been treated over the years and I just couldn't stand it.

"Not this time, Mr. McKinney," Watching her address me formally aroused me even more. She looked sexy in the nurse uniform, her curves were evenly accentuated and her cleavages catching my attention even more.

"Why act like a stranger Ella? We both know we've got far more chemistry than that." I teased watching as her cheeks turned red. In a calculated motion, I launched slowly, my face pulling closer to hers as I aimed for her lips.

But this time, I paused, her breath fanning my ears.

I watched her pull back almost immediately, rising out of the swivel chair she was sitting on. I couldn't help but acknowledge the pungent urge to have Ella all to myself— right here and right now.

But as adamant and hard to get as the woman I had spent a one night stand with four years ago, Ella hadn't change. Still as hard as a nut, and I liked that. Memories of the one night stand flashes into my mind, Ella had been a virgin then and I was intrigued.

She was unlike any other lady I'd ever tasted, sweet, pleasure full and attractive. I saw her turn facing the exit and was about leaving when I gripped her wrist causing her to turn back.

"Heading out already," I chimed, my voice filling the office.

"Whatever chemistry we had is irrelevant now. I’ve moved on, and you should too." Ella chided, her angelic voice filling my ears. Watching her try so hard to make it look as if she didn't feel an attraction a while ago made me want to kiss her even more.

"Irrelevant, some may say, but I can tell you still hold the memory of that pleasure filled night," I urged, watching her features soften upon my words. "I can still remember the sound of your voice moaning my name and both of us reaching climax."

With a gentle reserve, I rose to meet her figure, her cherry red lips calling unto me as I watched her utter, "Mr. McKinney, I assure you, whatever happened that night is ancient history. I'm here to do my job, not to entertain your fantasies. Let's keep this professional."

"Fantasy, ugh? I wouldn't place what we shared fantasy as it was pretty much an ecstasy," I dragged my words, watching her slowly succumb to my effect. From her nurse uniform, I could see her nipples had already pebbled, she wasn't wearing on any bra.

"Oh stop it, Mr McKinney," She recoiled softly, her features hardening almost immediately. "Is this how you harass your staffs?" I heard her voice chim out, her jaw hardening.

"We both know you are more than a staff to me, Ella." I beamed, with a dark smile as her cheeks turned daisy red. "Besides, seeing Ivy the other day ignited a spark the other day."

Ella’s expression hardened at my words. She squared her shoulders and met my gaze with steely determination.

"Ivy is my daughter, Mr. McKinney, and she is none of your business. Whatever you think you can waltz back into, you’re mistaken. My focus is on my job and my child, and that does not include you." She queried, her eyebrows quirking.

I couldn't help but notice the traces of anger in her gaze. Ella was a strong woman and I appreciated that, she was never the type to succumb easily but I could still say, only I could ignite a fire in her.

I leaned against the desk, letting the silence between us stretch, thick with unspoken tension. Our connection had always been intense, almost magnetic. No matter how much time had passed, it was still there, humming beneath the surface.

"You can feel it too, Ella," I said, my voice low, almost a whisper. "That pull between us—it’s undeniable."

She shook her head, her jaw tightening. "Whatever we had, Xavier, it's gone. I’m not interested in revisiting the past."

A slow smile spread across my lips as I straightened up, stepping closer to her. Her defiance only made me want her more. I could see the fire in her eyes, the strength she had gained in my absence.

"You’ve got some nerve, little miss," I murmured, my voice deep and laced with desire. "And I like that."

And with that, I left her standing there, knowing full well this was far from over.
