Anushka's P.O.V.

When we get to a small restaurant not far from the hotel, we're shown to a booth. Dakota insists that she needs to have one whole side of the booth for herself to color in the coloring book they gave her when we walked in, so Jordan and I have to sit together.

"Is this your first time on the island?" Jordan asks us. Dakota suddenly becomes very interested in her coloring while sneaking glances at us as though we can't see her.

"Yes. This is the first big vacation we've been on." I reply while taking a sip of my water. Jordan leans back and puts his arm on the back of the booth behind me. He's not touching me, but it still feels intimate.

"I've never been here either, so we can discover the island together," Jordan says as the waitress comes over to take our order. It's closer to lunchtime than breakfast, but we all want pancakes and sausage. Dakota orders chocolate chip, while Jordan and I order blueberry.

"Blueberry pancakes are mommy's favorite," Dakota says as she takes a drink of her milk. Jordan smiles as he turns to look at me. His fingers lightly touch the back of my neck, and I shiver. I know it was accidental, but I haven't been touched by a man in a long time.

"Mine too. So today's your birthday. How old are you?" He asks.

"Twenty-five. Why?" Do I have to be a certain age to babysit him?

"I'm just thinking how I went that many years without having my ray of light in my life." Oh, shit, he did it again. How does he keep catching me off guard with those cheesy lines?

"How old are you?" I look him over as though I'm sizing him up.

"Thirty. Why is that too old for you?" He asks with a smirk as his fingers touch my neck again. I'm pretty sure this time it's intentional.

"Too old for me to babysit? No, not at all," Dakota giggles from across the table.

"Does thirty mean you're an old man?" I burst out laughing while Jordan looks at her appalled.

"Old? Do I look old to you?" He asks her. She sets her crayon on the table and studies his face.

"You have a couple of wrinkles," She replies as the waitress brings our food.

"I don't know what to say. I thought thirty was young but apparently, I'd better get ready to go into a nursing home. Maybe I should ask someone to buy me a walker for my next birthday," Jordan says while I laugh. Dakota nods as she takes a bite of her pancake

"Yes, but if you have to wear diapers me, and Mommy won't babysit you anymore. We don't change diapers." Jordan's fork drops onto his plate. "Uh oh, Mommy he needs help eating."

"I never thought I would be beat up by a four-year-old," He says in disbelief.

"Don't let her get to you. She's been practicing on me. Sometimes I wonder what they teach her at school," Dakota's eyes light up at the mention of school, and I close mine. I already know where this is going.

"We had a Daddy day at school, but I don't have a Daddy," She looks down at her food giving him the best pout I've seen in a while. Anyone else would think she was ready to cry, but I know my daughter. She's trying to see what Jordan will do. He reaches over the table and pats her hand.

"I'm sorry you don't have a Daddy," he says. Dakota sniffs as though she's crying. I try not to laugh when I literally see Jordan melting.

"Can you pretend to be my Daddy, just for today, so I know what it's like?" She looks up at Jordan, and he looks at me. I shrug.

"What can I say? She knows how to get what she wants." I tell him as I eat my sausage. Dakota giggles and begins eating too, while Jordan looks back and forth between us.

"I think you should be on TV with your acting skills. I was ready to tell your mom I would adopt you just so you could have a Daddy," Something in his voice makes me stop eating to look at him. He sounds sad.

"Are you okay?" Jordan smiles and nods.

"I'm fine," I don't buy it.

"In all fairness, she has been telling me for a while I need to find her a Daddy. She woke up this morning asking me if I was ready to start looking. So yes, some of what she said was an act, but the whole wanting a Daddy thing wasn't." It obviously moved him that Dakota wanted to call him Daddy, and that makes my heart flutter. Jordan smiles as we all finish our food.

"If you want to call me Daddy for the day you can, but only if your Mommy holds my hand. If I'm your Daddy, then she's my wife, right?" Oh, he's smooth. I prepare to argue, but the little sneaky ninja speaks up first.

"Yep, that's right. Mommy, you have to hold Daddy's hand today." I look at Dakota and then narrow my eyes at Jordan.

"How did I get roped into this?" We stand up, and I grab the bill before Jordan can. After paying for our food we go outside.

"Today we're going to be a family, and you're the Mommy," Dakota says. She takes my hand and puts it into Jordans. He looks a little too pleased with himself as he links his fingers with mine.

"That's right Mommy. Do you have a problem holding my hand?" Yes, I have a problem with it. I don't like the way it makes me feel. I was supposed to be on vacation with Dakota. These two weeks are supposed to be a chance for us to relax and have fun. Meeting a man on our first day on the island and him making me feel all kinds of things I haven't let myself feel in a long time wasn't part of the plan. I should let go of his hand so I don't lead him on. However, as we start walking, and he lifts Dakota up to put her on his shoulders I can't help smiling as she squeals.

"No, I don't have a problem holding your hand but only for today," Jordan pulls me closer to him.

"How long are you two here for?" He asks.

"Two weeks," Jordan smiles.

"Good, me too. Dakota, what do you say we spend two weeks together so we can all see what it feels like to be part of a family?" Dakota looks down at me from his shoulders and I groan. I know that Cheshire cat smile on her face. She's going to spend these two weeks convincing me that Jordan should be her Daddy.

"Can we Mommy, please?" The little traitor is using her pout on me now. I know all her tricks but I'm still going to do exactly what she wants. I don't like this double-teaming they have going on here.

"Fine," They both start laughing and I laugh with them. This is a huge mistake. All that's going to happen is we're all going to have broken hearts when this vacation comes to an end.

Corbin's P.O.V.

I watch Jordan with Anushka and her daughter. What are the chances that they would be at the same hotel and she would find him on the beach? I pull out my phone to make the call I'm dreading.

"Hello."

"Sir, we have a problem," I say to the man on the other line.

"What's the problem?"

"The woman wasn't able to get enough poison on Jordan to make him as sick as we wanted." I start small before I tell him the rest.

"Well, you need to figure out something else then." He says angrily.

"That's not all. Anushka and her daughter are here. They're staying at the same hotel as Jordan and it looks like they may be a couple now." I wait for the rage I know's coming. Instead, I hear laughter.

"That's perfect. New plan. Kill them all. I want all three of their bodies left on that island to rot."

Anushka’s P.O.V. I wake Dakota and pull her in my arms as Jordan prepares to leave the bedroom. When the door to the room flies open, my heart drops. Why is someone breaking into our rooms? I look at Jordan in fear. He runs over and wraps his arms around both of us while pushing us toward the sliding glass doors. Being as quiet as he can, he opens them, and the three of us run outside and around the corner of the hotel. “Could you see who it was?” I ask him softly. “It was just one man, who I've never seen before. You and I just met today. Who would come to both of our rooms?” Jordan asks as he peeks around the corner. He turns and holds his finger to his lips so we’ll be quiet. I nod while Dakota looks at us in confusion. I hold her tight as my heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest until Jordan comes back over to us. “He went in the other direction talking on the phone. He looks at me while linking his fingers with mine. “Don’t leave me.” He says softly as we begin walking. Something in the way he says it makes me think he’s talking about more than just right now. I squeeze his hand and kiss his cheek. “I have no intention of going anywhere.” Don't ask me if I'm talking about just while we're on the beach or later, but it seems to make him happy even though there are so many unanswered questions between us. Anushka's P.O.V. I had been so close to throwing in the towel and taking Dakota home to New York when we found her. I wanted to blame Jordan and our kissing for the reason she was taken, but then I realized if I blamed him, I was also to blame. Those few minutes Dakota wasn't with me were the most terrifying of my entire life. When we found her, I wanted to keep her hidden away from the world. I don't know who took her or why. Seeing Jordan's face when I carried Dakota out of the bedroom made me realize I was no longer alone. We have only known each other for about a day, but we have already been through so much. The past year has been a whirlwind. Both of our businesses are thriving, and our families are growing. Yurkov and Corrine are expecting a daughter in a couple of months. They got married right after they reconciled. My other four brothers have calmed down and are all dating women I approve of. Yes, they asked for mine and Dakota's approval. I turn to look at the other two women. Courtney and Dina are also getting married today. We decided to do it together, just like we did with the adoptions. Another thing we all did unplanned was get pregnant. The three of us have small, matching baby bumps. We're due in six months, within weeks of each other. As I said, this past year has been a whirlwind. "You two look so beautiful," I say as we stand together. Our dresses are all white, but they're slig

Friday Before Father's DayAnushka's P.O.V. I'm so excited. Not only am I basically back to normal now, but today is going to be life-changing for three families. Jordan, Bobby, and Gavin are going to officially become fathers today. We are going to the courthouse to finalize the adoptions. I don't know who's more excited: the kids, the dads, or us moms. We thought doing it right before Father's Day would be perfect. "Mommy, are you ready for me to adopt Daddy?" Dakota asks, running into the bedroom with her blonde curls bouncing. She's wearing her favorite blue dress that her grandpa bought her. She insisted that we all wear blue to match. So I'm in a blue dress, and Jordan is in black pants with a blue button-up shirt. I lean down to kiss her cheek. It still hurts when I lift her. "I can't wait. Is everyone else ready?" I ask, taking her hand. "Yep." Dakota leads me out to the living room, where everyone is gathered. Courtney is with Bobby and her two kids, Sarah and Tyler. Di

I don't even know where they found something that size. As we get out of the SUV, my dad and brothers are waiting for us. They all hold open their jackets to show they don't have guns. Dakota runs over to them and jumps into my dad's arms. "You got me a real dragon," she says excitedly. He kisses her cheek and laughs. "Of course we did." We all turn when another car pulls up. Yurkov takes a deep breath and walks toward it. I see a beautiful woman with dark brown hair get out before helping a little boy who looks like my brother out of the back. Dakota has my dad put her down, and she walks over to them. "I'm Dakota. Are you Corrine and Luka?" she asks them. Luka looks at her shyly while Corrine smiles. "Yes, we are. Anushka's P.O.V. I wake up and stretch. I can finally sleep with Jordan in our regular bed instead of the hospital bed. My chest still hurts, and it will for a while, but I can move on my own now. I roll over and look at Jordan. He's so handsome and looks so peaceful in his sleep. I can't imagine life without him now. I met with my mom's attorney, who contacted me regarding her inheritance. It had grown so much that it was in the billions. I have no need for the money so I told him to let it sit there. Eventually, I'll have it put into a trust for Dakota and any future children we have. Today is Dakota's birthday. I can't believe she's five, although sometimes it feels like she's a lot older than five. Dad and my brothers said they had everything ready for her special day. All we have to do is show up. I'm a little nervous. This will be our first time going to the compound, but Dad guarantees we'll be safe. I guess I've seen too many movies because all I can picture is there being

I believe he knows exactly who she's talking about, but he doesn't want to answer. "Grandpa Chistov." We all look at her in surprise. She said his name perfectly fine."I thought you couldn't say his name," Jordan says. Dakota giggles and shrugs her little shoulders."I just like to give people nicknames." Anushka's P.O.V.I was nervous about letting Dakota leave, but I knew Gavin would keep her safe. I'm hoping that the giant teddy bear of a man has found a woman that interests him. He has too big of a heart to be alone. While they were downstairs, the police called and said they had arrested Phillip. He was so scared that he admitted to everything. Now they're looking for Stewart. I wish them luck with that. I can now walk independently, but Jordan still stays by my side. He has been incredible. My dad and brothers have been great, too. I'm starting to wonder if they even have a business because they're always here. Kozar said they have other people who can handle the day-to-day."Dakota's birthday is going to be incredible. I can't wait. Even if it's small, we're going to make sure she has everything she wants, including a fire-breathing dragon and fairies." My dad says. I shake my head and chuckle. When Dakota notices what he's doing, she slows down to give him time to chew."Can I come down here to play with Noah sometimes?" Dakota asks. Most kids don't understand Noah and ignore him. He doesn't speak much and can get agitated quickly. "You can come and play with him whenever you want. We're here all the time." I answer her. She smiles and begins eating again.
