I looked around vacantly, nothing was processing. And I didn't care. Shobek slowly crouched down and laid his wing out for me to slide down from. It took me a few seconds to register my movements. When I finally felt the ground I looked at my hands. I am trembling. I slowly looked up at Shobek, his eyes showing a hint of annoyance as he sighed and wandered towards a crater. I slowly looked away, taking in the black stone ground and the falling ashes around me. The temperature around me was definitely hotter than any weather we ever had on the surface. But for me, all I felt was a vast emptiness. The dark world was only lit up by the glows of fire and lava. The underworld. It was quiet, but I could feel the anguish in the air. The fear.
"Are you going to stand there all day?" Shobek growled.
I slowly turned back to where I had seen him, the dragon's figure nearly invisible if it wasn't for the glints of his scales or gl
Shobek slowed his pace a little after a long walk, a light starting to peek at me as I walked behind him. Our footfalls were in sync as we approached the yawning room that was before us. Why are all of these guys' basements so large? I questioned silently to myself, glancing at the young boy, internally scolding myself about blindly following someone I don't know. If this was the normal world, I would run away from things like this. I mean, what kinda girl follows a guy she hardly knows into a basement? Or why would she EVER follow them knowing that they are from the supernatural? "Get your head out of the clouds. We'll start with the basics. I want you to do a jab, cross, jab, then an undercut." The boy glanced back at me as he walked a little further away. "As...in punching?" I followed a few feet behind him, watching him make himself comfortable atop a large rock. He looked down at me as he sat crisscrossed, watchin
Kasey stared at the deceiving form of the young boy. Though she was well aware that he was far older than her, she felt a pull towards him, wanting to protect him. His age didn't coincide with his actions, not all the time anyway. Shobek stared deep into Kasey's eyes as if reading her like a book. He hissed and jerked his chin back to where she had previously been when practicing. "Get back to work." My body was exhausted by the time Shobek let me rest. It had been a few hours since I started and I was ready to quit. Shobek sat on his rock with his eyes close. Meditating I suppose. I plopped down on the ground taking deep breaths to steady my heartbeat. I stared aimlessly at the expansive room around me, my thoughts drifting back to what I had done. Nausea started rippling through me, my eyes slowly looking down at my hands that rested on my knees. I could almost feel the handle in my hand again. The
The dragon that stood before me was panting as its legs seemed to be concrete; the shadowed bindings making him unable to twitch. He ground his teeth together slightly as he let his rage pool off of him. I stared at his magnificent form. Despite the fact that he probably wanted to bite my head off, he was absolutely beautiful. I slowly found my footing out of reach, carefully moving around him as I looked over him. His wings were folded close to his body, the long lizard tail swishing back and forth like a cat does when it's annoyed. It was truly, a remarkable sight. "If you weren't so scary lookin' right now, I would want to pet you." He jumped a little at my words and finally actually looked at me. As if he was seeing someone entirely different before. A deep grumble came as the only reply I would receive, his head turning away from me. "What...were you thinking about?" Shobek slowly looked at me, the cha
It's been about a week since I last saw Shobek. It had to of been at least five days I think. It's hard to tell if it's day or night but his whole house seems to just automatically turn off all the unnecessary lights when it reaches a range of nighttime. If you wanted a certain light on, you had to go to the switch and flip it. It was a pretty neat idea but I wasn't sure if it was accurate, regardless, I've adjusted my whole lifestyle to it. The only times I know Shobek is still alive are when I hear him cursing at something in a game or when I suddenly hear rummaging outside my room in the kitchen in the middle of the night. I did try to catch him while he was on a hunt for food but when I saw him stalk past the hall, he looked more like a demon than ever before. Even though he held the corner of a chip bag in his mouth and was juggling a jar of dip and two different cans of some kind of energy drink, the way his eyes looked was nearly horrifying.
(Shobek's POV) I slowly looked around, the release of my tension was everywhere. I glanced down at myself and grimaced at the black blood that coated me. I sighed and rolled my shoulders back, noticing the sound of quick and quiet footsteps on the ramp. I faintly remembered passing her, I looked back at my mess and frowned. "Oops." I sighed and kicked a limb out of my way as I sauntered towards my bathroom. I'll have to clean all of that up by hand if my powers haven't replenished by the time I finish my bath. "Kasey probably won't be returning here for a while." I slowly stripped off my clothes as I walked to the steaming water, letting myself sink into its warm embrace as I relaxed. I leaned back and stared up at the ceiling. Kasey was doing pretty good all considering. The few times when I've gotten sick of playing
Shobek wandered to the kitchen, Kasey still making some food. He glanced at what she had decided on and almost laughed. "What?" Kasey turned a sharp eye on Shobek, scowling at the young boy. "Frozen tenders and fries?" Shobek smiled mockingly, "it's funny how a little kid can cook better than an adult." Kasey scoffed, "little kid my butt." She carefully slid the pan into the oven and closed the door. She turned back and peered behind Shobek, "did you end up killing him?" "Sadly, I refrained from doing so. He's bathing in the bathroom if you want to go check." "No thanks." Kasey turned back to the frozen food bags she had yet to put away and slowly looked at Shobek again. "How do you have all of this modern stuff?" "It's easy for me to travel between realms because I can make my own portals. Though it is draining. Ever
The house was strangely quiet as I snuck out of my room. It had only been a couple of minutes since I heard the two men stomping away. Where they went was beyond me; I just wanted to get a drink and something sweet before returning to my new habit of being a recluse. My steps were light as I reached the halfway point in the living room. I paused and glanced around suspiciously. A glass of milk sat on the small table beside the couch along with the tv remote. I glanced at the channel that was on and frowned. It seemed to be a news station that was showing images of a developing fire. My stomach churned as I realized there were crucified people screaming in the midst of the flames. I quickly grabbed the remote and turned the TV off, the sight I saw earlier with Shobek ripping the monsters apart was already threatening my appetite. I sat the remote down and heard loud footsteps, I looked up and froze as a tall man emerged from the wall. His white hair fell in front
The two men continued to bark orders to the young women that continuously threw punches at the dummy. Left, right, left left, right, and kick. Kasey's limbs were starting to protest and give in as the exhaustion sept through. Digging into her muscles as she again listened to her coaches. "Keep your knees slightly bent. Elbows in!" Apophis repeated. Kasey felt her shoulders start to droop as she came close to calling quits. They've been at it all morning. What the hell is wrong with these guys? Why were they pushing so hard for her to train? By this point, Kasey tuned out Apophis as she again did the sequence he had shown her this morning. She could feel her knuckles burning with the constant pain of the beating. It was becoming too much. She jumped when she felt a warm hand touch her waist and she swung her arm back in an attempt to hit her attacker. Shobek easily caught her arm and quickly tucked it
Kasey flinched when she watched his canine teeth elongate, slowly Sonneillon brushed her hair out of the way and tilted her head as he slowly rested his teeth against her skin. Kasey took a deep breath and Sonneillon instantly bit down, puncturing her skin, Kasey flinched back as Sonneillon wrapped an arm around her waist while the other one held the back of her head to keep her from moving. Sonneillon groaned at the bursts of flavor, his eyes glowing red as he took a few long gulps. A numbing sensation grew around the bite but Kasey instantly started to feel lightheaded. Her body temperature rose as her body shivered with pleasure against her own will. Sonneillon hugged her closer to him as he savored each millisecond, Kasey gripped onto his shirt as her legs started to become weak and she couldn't help but lean against him for support. Her mouth failed to pronounce words as her mind went at war between wanting more and making it stop. Why wasn't her mouth cooperating? Kase
After all four had finished eating the servants came back and cleared the table while the three men talked about politics. Kasey's determination to learn more about this new world she had been swallowed by failing as she kept tuning out pieces of the conversation until she wasn't listening at all. Politics just weren't her thing. Eventually, Mammon shifted the conversation to what they had all been gathered here for. "We are here to make Kasey into a full fledge demon so she will have a chance at survival. Therefore, we need her soul intact, Pyro." Mammon rubbed his hands together and smiled widely at the Prince. "Have what I asked for already been arranged then?" Pyro watched Mammon closely to pick out any lies he dared spill. Mammon tossed his head from side to side for a moment before he smiled, "I think the only thing that hasn't been accomplished was the optional choice. Everything else has been arranged or prepared." Pyro slowly looked over at Kasey who
Crystle lead Kasey to two double mahogany doors and bowed as she announced Kasey's arrival. The doors swung open and Crystle instantly moved to the side, bowing to Kasey while she gestured into the room. Kasey slowly walked towards the long table that Mammon was already seated at. He smiled warmly at her and slowly stood up. "Lovely for you to join us! The others will be arriving shortly," Mammon moved away from his spot at the head of the table and pulled out the seat that was next to him. "Please, sit." Kasey hesitated before smiling slightly and sat in the chair with a cautious "thank you". "I am quite happy that you did decide to join us, but I am curious why you didn't say no?" Mammon pushed in her chair before he grabbed a bottle of wine that one of his servants started to bring over to pour into her glass. He instantly shooed the servant away as he poured it himself for her. "I didn't realize no was an option if I am being honest. Though if you want th
As soon as Kasey let go of Mammon's hand, she had a sinking feeling in her chest. As if she just sold herself to him. The enthusiasm Mammon was clearly showing wasn't much help either. He quickly went to the door and directed a servant to lead Kasey to a room she could stay in until things were ready. The maid led her to a door that was a few doors down from the office they had appeared in, slowly Kasey worked up the courage to ask where they were. The blue-haired maid bowed after she opened the door for Kasey, gesturing for her to enter before looking up at the human girl and replying, "This is lord Mammon's mansion, miss. I am Crystle. I will be your caretaker while you are here, miss." Her eyes were an icy blue and her lips were pale against her snow-white skin. The black and white maid outfit is a heavy contrast to her expression. But she still seemed beautiful. "How long do you think I will be here?" The maid stared at the human before turning her head back dow
It was night by the time Kasey paused to rest. She sat down on a fallen tree. Why the tree had fallen was the last thing on her mind. what was on her mind was how broken her legs felt. And how badly her arm ached. It might've been basically healed, but it was still sore from the whole event. Kasey took off her bag and pulled out a water bottle and an apple. She took a few short swigs of the water before putting it away and putting the bag back on. She slowly ate the apple as she used her demon eye's powers again to peer around her. She was alone for now. The phone she stole chimed and Kasey jumped before peering down at the screen. It was a message. "Have you not arrived?" Kasey sighed and texted back, "a few miles north still." "I see." Kasey took another bite of her apple as she jumped down from the tree and continued her walk. Shobek paced back in forth on the lawn while Belasco went around the whole house to make sure he wasn't mistaken. But
The doctor that showed up only did the bare minimum since Kasey was still human. Though he was supposedly trustworthy, Shobek made the doctor seal his lips about this incident with a bit of his magic. Though it was risky, both demon lords decided a tiny spark shouldn't prove where they were. So it was done. If the doctor spoke of the incident, he would instantly be consumed by Shobek's flames. "The doctor said she should be better after a few days, especially with her quick healin. So you don't need to guard her..." Belasco again repeated to the stubborn dragon. "We didn't even know when he arrived. There's no promise that he can't appear in her room either. It's better if someone stays in her room with her." Shobek snarled, his eyes watching Kasey as she lay on the bed, staring emptily at the ceiling. Belasco sighed, giving up on his attempt to let Kasey rest in peace, "just promise me, that if she asks for some alone time, you will listen to her." Shobek nod
Kasey argued with Belasco the next morning about letting her take the day off. But Belasco refused to train her until tomorrow and locked himself in his gaming room. Kasey stormed downstairs and angrily took a bite of an apple. Shobek played on the console until he noticed Kasey's presence. "What's wrong?" Shobek paused his game and looked over at her. "Belasco is making me take a day off," Kasey responded before taking another bite. "Shouldn't you be happy you get a day off?" Shobek got up and walked over to her, a hand gently touching over a bruise that was left on her cheek. "He beat you up pretty badly.." "I want to train! Besides, most of the scratches are already healed. The bruises are mostly faded too." Kasey responded pulling away from Shobeks touch. "I didn't know you had fast healing," Shobek stepped back to give her space. "I didn't either," Kasey said around a bite of the apple. "I could try to train you...?" Shobek hesitantly offe
Kasey picked out a more comfortable outfit amongst the clothes Shobek ordered for her online through Belasco's account. Taking the outfit to the bathroom, Kasey quickly got in and washed from the day's grueling work. Her mind drifted to the time she let herself fall into her pit of depression, her body slowly growing limp as she stood under the water. No, not again... Kasey shook her head and continued to wash the shampoo out of her hair. After she was done she got out, dried off, and slipped into her underwear and the black sweatpants and lavender shirt she picked out. Quickly tying her hair back into a sloppy bun she headed back downstairs, patting Ananta on the head as she headed back outside. The two had stopped arguing by this time but a tense silence remained between the two. "How's the food coming?" Kasey slowly asked, hoping to NOT cause another fight. "Almost done," Shobek responded. Belasco mockingly mouthed what Shobek said. "I saw that," Shobe
Kasey's new life took off much quicker than expected. Wake up at six, get ready, eat by seven, then work on meditation and breathing till nine. Practice magic until twelve, eat lunch, then do combat training until five, having only short breaks between the course. Shobek watched each day, impressed with her increasing stamina and faster response times. Though she still had yet to beat Belasco, day by day, she was pushing through, getting closer each time. Belasco panted as he again blocked and dodged Kasey's endless attacks, jumping over another leg sweep, "let's take a break!" Kasey slowly stood back up, panting as she walked over to the outside table and picked up a towel to wipe off her sweat. "I think I almost had you there." Belasco paused then chuckled, "not quite sweets!" Belasco took a long swig of his drink as Shobek stepped outside. "No, she definitely had you there. You've gotten much weaker Belasco." Shobek walked over to the two with two cups of
