Tale 135: Overthink

“What’s the matter?” Cole asked when he arrived in their classroom and saw that Stelle looked dispirited. “Do you feel ill? Or is there a problem at home?” he asked. His eyes and voice are filled with concern. He is Stelle’s best friend, as well as classmate so it is just right for him to be concerned for Stelle.

Stelle, whose face was buried in his arms as he slumped into his table, turned to look at Cole. “Cole, you’re here…” he muttered, still looking dispirited.

“What’s wrong?” Cole asked. “Did something happen?” he softened his voice, which sounded soothing.

Stelle’s worry really eased when he heard Cole’s voice. “Well…” he muttered as he hesitated. Unfortunately, he can’t even hesitate since in the first place, he can’t tell his secret to anyone, including Cole even if Cole is his best friend. This made him feel guilty, and he bit his lip. He feels bad for keeping secrets from his best friend. He doesn’t deserve to be Cole’s best friend.
