“She’s just around, find that girl!”
“Which way did she go?”
“Arrghh! You stupid creatures! She's only a weak girl, yet she still escaped? Three on the left, two on the right! Search the whole forest, idiot dogs!”
Sarjao’s grumpy voice echoed all over the place. Sitting up from a tall tree’s branch, Denise and the guy simply munches on a bunch of bananas they got a while ago. Watching Rocco’s comrades shifts into their wolf form and start running in different directions.
“They're still not giving up on me,” she chuckled.
“Don’t you wonder why they are so eager for the emblem?” the guy asked out of nowhere, chewing on a newly peeled banana.
“No, I'm not interested at all. If they saw me as a threat to them, I might as well compel myself even more to get that position. I’m not a Shadowstone for nothing.”
“Is that really what you want? What if you can’t?” the guy replied without even looking at her.
“I will.” She turned towards the guy and blankly stared at him. She notices his beanie covering and hiding his entire head, perhaps he is hiding something.
“Are you sure you wanna see what’s under this?” he suddenly uttered facing Denise with a teasing smirk plastered on his face.
She tilted her head and replied with a playful smile. “Can I?”
"Know me first." The guy leaned over close to her and whispered. “I am someone who is your complete opposite.” Leaning closer and closer to her ears, as the moon shone to its brightest, the cold breeze blew, sending goosebumps on Denise’s exposed skin with bruises and cuts bandaged and covered with patches.
“Ymir, as what you’ve said,” she grinned. Reaching on the guy’s beanie, wanting to take it off.
But his hand blocked hers before completely taking it off, guiding it to his chiseled jaw drawing near his tempting red lips. “Know me, Darling,” he added.
Meeting Denise’s confused gaze, she asked herself, ‘Is there anything more I need to know about this man?’
“Who are—” her sentence cut as she successfully pulled the black beanie off his head revealing his jet-black hair stained with red on its tips.
In a flash, he takes over Denise’s place, carrying her on top of him. She gripped tightly onto his shoulders in shock. Keeping their mutual gaze at each other, his eyes suddenly turned red causing Denise to faint.
Carrying the lady in his arms, the guy uttered strange clusters of words as he simply leaped down from the gigantic tree.
“Silaw di bulan, pandanan ay manpaila.”
A water portal appeared in front of him, lying horizontally on the grassy plains. The guy stepped in without getting splashed even by a single drop of liquid contrary to what should be expected. Changing the way he carries the woman, he hangs her on his shoulders like a dead sheep.Appearing at the other side of the portal was a gigantic mansion filled with pine trees. Waving beige and black color of the entire infrastructure, a simple yet elegant scenery. Around were shades of purple flowering lavender filling the sweetest scent of the air. A large fountain standing with a fierce statue of a chimera on top.
Two men in plain parkas walking toward him. One was with daring green eyes wearing a gray crewneck shirt partnered with rugged wrangler jeans. Beside him was a blonde man with stunning brown iris, cladded with a black sweatshirt.
“You really are a possessive man, it's just a day of knowing, and here you are carrying her like a deer you caught hunting from the woods,” the blonde guy mocked seeing how his friend carelessly carries Denise with his left shoulder.
“Tristan, open the fifth room,” he ordered the green-eyed man ignoring the other. Tristan hesitantly looked at him, “But Alpha, you just met her. What if—”
“There’s something wrong with her, she doesn’t recognize me.”
“And your solution is this? Forcing her? Are you out of your mind, Cole?” the blonde man protested.
“The seventh moon was only in a couple of months, Marcus. And I need a child—an heir, before the war breaks in. I need to secure the line. This is not the time for your sweet-talking.”
Marcus and Tristan were left dumbfounded by the mansion’s entrance, seeing their Alpha walk away carrying the lady in a leather jacket. Amazing paintings hanging on the wall as Cole walks forth to the fifth room. Opening its wooden door, a king bed with velvet sheets therein. Around was completed with dressers and a chest of drawers. The whole room was dimmed, a single lamp was left open.
Cole dropped Denise roughly on the wide bed waking her up from unconsciousness. Opening her eyes in a strange room, she quickly gets up with her forehead creasing.
Impassively, he pushed her back lying on the bed, stripping off her clothes. “What are you doing?” Denise screamed and repelled the dangerous man now madly taking the fabric covering her body.
“You should know me,” Cole’s raspy seducing voice echoed. Pinning her down the velvet sheets, she tried to fight and flee from him but he firmly grasps onto her making Denise whimper in pain. Her strength was no match for him at this rate.
*****
Covered in thick blankets, Denise silently shed her tears. Messy hair and naked under the sheets. After what the guy did to her, he just walks away as if there’s nothing happened between them. She didn’t waste ten years in that bloody academy just to let a man desecrate her. She knew she was that tough enough to defend herself. But when it’s her against her mate, it was a hard thing to win.
When Cole told her he was her mate, she didn’t instantly believe him. Without the now existing feelings and her grudges against him, it was hard to believe a stranger popped out of nowhere and did that ‘thing’ to her to be her mate.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. A brunette teenage girl with stains of red on the tips of her hair entered the room, she was holding a robe and a set of clothes.
“Brother said you can change now,” the girl uttered.
Denise stared at her and laughed sardonically. “Tell him I greatly appreciated it. Thank you.” Shifting her gaze to the window by the side table and shut her mouth as streams of water drips again.
“I-I’m sorry about what Brother did to you, it’s just that we badly need—”
“Get out.”
“B-but—” The girl just turned away and cut her own words realizing this is not the time to talk to her. Leaving Denise in the room. Disgusted with herself, the uneasy and frustrated feeling added by messy thoughts ran through her mind.
She buried her face in the blanket and screamed loudly.
But she then stopped when the door again slowly opened. Enters a man who she curses to the depths of the lake of fire. “Get up,” he commanded carelessly and darted a stare, meeting her drenched eyes.
A smirk slowly paints on the woman’s lips as she wearily stood up from the bed. She walked towards the guy, didn’t mind facing him naked, making Cole’s eyes widen in shock at her sudden action.
Denise’s fist balled and reaches Cole’s jaw without any warning, “Are you happy?” she questioned which she quickly answered on her own with a sarcastic laugh. “Huh, why did I even ask this question, the answer’s very obvious!” she yelled, punching Cole’s face again.
“Let me—”
“I don’t pay attention to any of your f*cking explanations!” Denise’s words thundered, slicing his sentences. Amidst her repeated punches and slaps to him, Cole stood silently. Letting her do whatever she wants until Denise eventually stopped, sliding down to her knees. She cracked up, burst into tears again.
“D*mn you! You’re a sh*t sealed in that body!”
With her cursing filling the entire room, Cole walks past her grabbing the blanket. He gently wrapped it around her, intent to carry her but she refused. Raising her right palm, she gave him a mighty slap across his cheek. “I loath you. Whoever you are to me, I don’t give a d*mn thing!” she growled and hurled a deathly glare at him, turning her back away from Cole who still stood firmly emotionless.
On the room’s left side, a sliding glass door leading to the balcony was locked. Upon glancing at that possible exit, Denise quickly ran towards it. She knocked down the glass, shattering it into pieces.
She endured every pain that’s almost in every part of her body, those bruises, and wounds that were exposed when she let go of the fabric wrapped around her. Touching the cold limestone pathway with her toes, she shifted into her wolf form.
She ran towards the forest, twigs and leaves swatted her face. Ignoring another batch of scratches on her. However, her speed suddenly decreased when a familiar voice popped up in her head. ‘Run, Baby. Run before I catch you.’
She growled in annoyance, ‘Then run after me. Once you caught me, you'll regret seeing my face again!’ she replied.
‘Really?’
A loud crashing sound disturbed the forest’s silence, followed by a sudden collapse of an enormous tree in front of her. Out of the dark, a fierce black wolf marched towards her. Red highlights on its fur become visible as it steps under the moonlight.
Denise’s wolf gritted her teeth, recognizing the one in front of her. Claws ready to attack, she steps backward. Flared, she leaped slitting her own mate’s flesh. Blood starts to squirt out of its neck.
“Show yourself!” Denise yelled, shifting to her human form. Beside her was a deer laying in a pool of blood. Got fooled by her mate’s illusions. A simple laugh echoed in her head,‘We’ll be playing, Darling.’ In aggravation, she shifted again to her dark wolf.‘You better hide well,’ It was past midnight and there were two wolves playing hide and seek in the deep forest. But Denise doesn’t have the intention to seriously join Cole’s foolish game, she needs to run away from that guy. Even though he is her mate, she rather lives alone than be with a man like him. Realizing he has this a
The sun’s light directs on Sydney’s face, waking her up from her deep sleep. She was inside her Toyota Fortuner where she chose to spend her night. Still having hangovers, Sydney turned back, avoiding the morning sunshine meddling with her sweet sleep. Thinking of spending the whole day sleeping inside her car when she suddenly remembered Denise, where in the world was her arrogant friend staying? Or, did she even stay? Wearing a black floral lace top partnered with ripped jeans, her beige cardigan capped on her shoulders. She jumped out of the car and quickly went straight to the Rigidore’s parking area, backgrounded by the sound of her stilettos hitting the ground. But arriving at the possible place, she didn’t see De
“Alpha Cole sent me here.” Sydney calmly walked forward to the knights in black armor. With no response from the guards, she stepped in further but before her hand could even reach the door handle, a pair of sharp-edged things was pointed near her neck. Beads of sweat started to drip from her forehead, she had to stay still and calm like a statue. One wrong move and those swords will definitely stab her. “Let her in, Alpha Cole told her to stay. She’s her friend.” Marcus appears behind her. But the guards still keep their weapons aimed at her, “I’m telling the truth, let me in.” Sydney closed her eyes and simply mind-linked Denise. Her scent was more noticeable behind the door. She’s really in there, no doubt.
“What else did he say?” Denise sipped the red wine on her glass, directly staring at her friend. Three days had passed when she woke up in her own bed. Relieved, found herself back at their pack mansion here in Claveria Haltera. Sydney told her they escaped from that man’s territory. On the pack house’s balcony, they were standing with both of them holding glass a glass of wine. On the left was the training ground for young warriors led by the Gamma’s son. “He said he will let you go, he’ll give up on having a senseless and unsympathetic mate.” Giving her false information was the only thing Sydney should do in able to protect her friend, she would rather act unaware of Cole’s plan. If this is what was destined for them, then she’ll let it be.
“Cut off the formality as what she said,” the man commanded. Standing in front of the class like a superintendent. “You can take a break, kids. Training will resume shortly as trainer Lachlan will get back here,” Denise instructed, letting the children play around. She walked toward the man smiling at her, “Father, Lachlan told me you went to the Alpha conference.” “Yes, it’s very abrupt that I even need to rush everything just to attend that. I should have been the first to welcome you at the gate an—,” “No, it’s okay Papa. It’s much great that way.” Brandon looked at her with his narrow eyes, depicting there is something he needs to know about his daughter. “Tell me what is
Moonlight shone to its brightest as the packhouse was continuously filled, Shadowstone’s pack members were invited for the inauguration. Women and children dressed in their best attires, with their fancy masks covering half their faces. Guarding the whole mansion, men in dark blue shirts stood methodical. Waiting for the Alpha’s signal to command, allowing them to enter the mansion. “Why did Alpha Brandon suddenly bring up the inauguration?” “Did his Daughter already return?” “I haven’t heard about that.” “His daughter? The one who escaped Laxon a few years ago?” “Yes, she is. So maybe she’ll ascend her Father’s position.” Up in the balcony, a l
“Nice to see you.” Standing, facing her own mother. She had this long bluish hair braided and intertwined. Those almond eyes resemble hers, delicate lips, and their face contour. No doubt they’re mother and daughter. “Y-You’ve already grown up, Honey.” Lilia stepped closer to her. Reaching out her hands to her cheeks like she missed doing that to her. Her heart thumped, hammering her chest, smiling from ear to ear, letting her tears roll down uncontrollably. The unexplainable feeling inside… “Denise… I’m sorry, Honey.” Lilia hugged her as she lets out all her grievances and longing for her daughter whom she kept for long years. &
A round of applause rolled over the insides of the mansion as the pact and taking an oath of the next leaders stood over Shadowstone pack. But as the celebration remained to be a cheerful one, a crashing sound suddenly shattered the party. “Inauguration, huh?” voiced someone of a very familiar tone, a mocking one. A man in a cloaked blue suit leaped down from the shattered glass ceiling. Across his chest was a red satin sash with an embroidered figure of an eye. ‘The emblem of Laxon University… that filthy place again.’ Denise muttered inside her head while her eyes narrowed and the dagger in her hand slid off her grip.
“Hakbang, alisto!” Yells the highest guard personnel in full authority, raising his riffle with its chamber on his shoulder level. He stood in the hold, full of power and control over all the high-skilled patrols. He wears this suit of blue and a red sash-like crossing over his shoulder and on it pinned different crests that, perhaps, represent the high rank he’s in.“Saje, shuwa, taddo!” With the count of the high guard, the terrifying banging of the drums filled the wide court hall. The drum was made out of vertically narrow lengths of wood with a slightly beveled edge to form its torso. Animal skin, probably, is stretched over the torso and was tightened with a rope.
Chapter 52: The last mission“Sinak baw sik-a ay maila.”“N-Nice to see you.”“Why are you turning away, darling?” “I have built walls around me for years to stop this stupid thing called ‘mates’. I didn’t expect this to happen any sooner than I expected.” I never thought this would be harder than climbing a greasy bamboo pole.’“Are you trying to push me away?” ‘This guy really challenges me into a battle.’‘Why would he even challenge me when he’s just block
“No.” I step back away from her. “I got what you need. This, right?” My hand quickly grabbed the scroll from my pocket and showed it to her. “Bring back my memories and I’ll give you the scroll.” But she just sneered at me and held the tip of the scroll with her finger. “I can get the scroll even without your mere help, Denise. Between the two of us, you need help more than I do.” Her hand moved and stroked the air, delivering a swift wind that immediately snatched the thing out of my grip.“Your mother… has agreed to this when she left for that man.” The moon goddess treaded, closing our distance. She lifted her hand and brushed my cheek with the back of her fingers. “You are a child of
“The sea will not leave and it will not be the last moment we could watch the sunrise together.”“This time you’re not just an imagination anymore. I see you alive and breathing, Soleil.” I tightly closed my eyes and shook my head multiple times hearing those words on repeat inside my head. Not getting my sight off the thing in my hands, I clutched it tighter. The old brown paper and the ancient letterings imprinted on it. The engraved figure of a dragon crossing the crescent moon clasping the rolled paper in place, the emblem of Nightshade. I finally got the venturi scroll. The reason I sneaked in the headquarters of
Interesting… I leaned my back on the wooden wall while I’m up the wooden beam on the ceiling of the room. Underneath my sight were familiar faces I may have seen somewhere. A woman with short blue tinted hair. And a man with darkened ones, a mustache was on his face. and of course, there’s this guy whom I do not understand who he is to me. Been said that I’m his mate but…“You attempted to kill your first born but he’s been rescued by someone who sees him as a tool he could use. Limerick raised your son for his benefit, feeding him lies and on his tenth birthday, he asked you Lilia to be with him for ten y
Zaetron’s POV Marcus met me as I closed the door to the room where Soleil was in. I have already unclasped all chains on her after confirming it was really Denise Soleil. Every exit equals to four ranked patrol warriors guarding. And to her current state, it will be hard for her to get away if she’s planning to escape.“Letters are already sent by Ferisha to Shadowstone. Sooner or later, they will be here. What are you planning to say to them?” he asked when we reached the furren corridors of the mansion leading to the headquarters. I nodded. “What are the things you’ve discovered? Aside from her fake identity as Jarred’s sister?”“Trist
“Who are you?” His terrorizing tone sends chills on my spine, adding his piercing killer eyes that slay with just a single stare. His hand wrapped around my neck stiffened that I hardly breathe and all I could do was push his hand away. He’s killing me. Is this the way he usually asks? Or perhaps, a start of his interrogation?“Answer me!” Zaetron growled and his grip tightens, making me gasp and wheeze. Stupid! How would I answer if he’s not letting me go!“Daddy, please don’t hurt mommy!” I heard Keith scream and saw him run towards the man’s legs and wrapped his tiny arms around Zaetron’s leg. “Daddy, I don’t want her to leave us again,” he muttered with his voice cracking. Even if I can’t see him clearly, I know his eyes were now starting to wail up. His voice was pleading, begging… Unexpectedly, hastily as a dash of the wind, I found myself falling down from his grip. And my body crashed like a withered vegetable on the rocky grou
Chapter 46: Out of the angleThird Person’s POV Palacio di Bulan (Moon’s Palace); A century ago“Avanti!” Palacio di Bulan is a mystical mass of land that floats beneath the space between the earth and the moon. At the center lies a temple that nothing occupies but millions of celosia cristata flowers glowing azure and lilac with a pond in it as the moon’s light darts upon. On the temple’s left side stands a huge castle. It was of marble that reflects the light of the moon. There was a broken brick bridge by the arch entrance that seems like it has been cut intentionally. Like there has to be its other half left behind. There were two cylindrical towers standing on the gate’s sides parted by walls that were engraved with windows. On the inner side was the mansion that was even taller than the entrance towers. Around lives dozens of green trees and on their branches hang lurches and vines of jade plant. Down lingers its blue flowers that resem
I pulled the fabric on my chin to cover half of my face as I kept my foot attached firm on the highest branch of the tree beside the gushing river of Amtala. It’s almost midday as I have promised Keith. The forest was quiet and lucid as usual. By far I have not seen anything suspicious as is. I was about to lunge down when a tiny voice caught my ears.“Mommy?” A little boy wearing a simple brown shirt and loose blue pants was running towards the tree I’m on. His dark hair tainted red on its tips looks like a fireball dashing if I am to see his head only. I quickly leaped to meet him and a wide smile crept on his face
