Sumit
Black dots marred my vision as every objected become a blurred image as I sat on the floor of the dimly lit washroom. I panted as I felt my whole body trembling. I was sweating profusely. My chest constricted as I tried to calm myself. It was a miracle that I had managed to come here to suffer silently without waking up Aruna. I prayed that the walls muffled my voice.
ArunaSumit looked at me with disbelief. The food on the plate was long forgotten."You knew I had an anxiety attack yesterday and yet you pretended to remain oblivious about it?"
ArunaAn awkward silence dominated the atmosphere as we were on our way to my parents' house. All this was the result of the sudden hug that we shared or that I had initiated. I have never been so bold before as to initiate a hug moreover hug a guy. Not even Akash - my so-called ex. Where was all this bravado coming from? Trust me I have no idea.
ArunaI closed the second suitcase and put it away and walked out of the walk-in closet. It was quite late, and we had a morning flight tomorrow. W had left my parents' house with a teary goodbye. It wasn't easy knowing that I only get to see them, talk to them virtually as we would be miles apart. I had to repeatedly reassure ma that we would be okay, that I'd try to visit them once or twice a year. Somehow I had to convince myself about it as well.
ArunaSumit's chest was heaving up and down with aggravation. And I? I was looking at him with a mixture of shock and disbelief."What?" it came out as a whisper.
ArunaSumit did not explain his perpetual dislike for Ankush bhaiya any further, and neither did I prod him about it. Our fingers were still intertwined. He took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair before continuing,
ArunaI yawned and stretched before getting up from the bed. As soon as I left the warmth of the bed and plush blanket, my skin came in contact with the frostiness in the air. I hugged myself and rubbed my arms to gain some warmth. Even though the heater was on, I still shivered as soon as my feet touched the cold hardwood floor.I hurriedly slipped on my flip-flops and pulled on a cardigan. My gaze went to the digital clock on the bedside table.7:30 a.m.Shit.I will make both of us late for work.I rushed towards the door and no sooner did I swing it open than the strong aroma of coffee wafted into my nostrils. Curiously, I went to the kitchen. Was Sumit making coffee? That would be a first. I chuckled to myself. However, other than us, no one else would break-in. I mean the intruder would definitely not have breakfast with me or greet me casually, 'Oh hi there, just broke into your apartment but thought why not have some coffee before I leave'. Hah! I chuckled again at my stupidi
ArunaMy mouth fell open. Did he just say...? My eyes turned into the size of golf balls when I caught the growing smirk on his oh-so inviting lips.I could feel the heat creep up from the base of my neck and spread to the tip of my ears. I scowled at him even though my heart was beating erratically. I tried my best to hold his stare and keep my breathing even. I kept up my front. However, his smirk did not waver at all. My hold on the spoon tightened, his eyes darting towards the small action and his lips split into a full-blown grin as his eyes glinted with mischief. Why that..."Is Aruna Mathur Kapoor nervous?" He drawled. I glared and decided to give my attention to the chocolaty goodness. My mind was frazzled as I cut a small portion and shoved it into my mouth, trying my best not to moan as it assaulted my taste buds and also tried to ignore the burning gaze of my husband.I scrunched up my nose, "Kiss you? Have you seen your face? Had you been Fawad Khan then I could take the o
SumitI sat there with one of my hands loosely holding the steering wheel and the other hand was on the cheek that Aruna had just pecked.Well, I definitely did not seethatcoming.
4 years later...Aruna"Sumit please hurry up, we need to get everything ready on time. The guests will arrive soon," I urged a
ArunaTo say things had changed dramatically would be an understatement. One letter had changed it all. Rohit and Rashmi were dumbfounded when the next day I told them about Maa's letter. Rohit had his jaw clenched as he took in the information. He was still angry on Ankush bhaiyaa for concealing such a big thing. Rashmi surprisingly was more understanding.
Aruna"Well...you were going to marry Tia?" I finally asked after an awkward silence. Sumit kept the letter on the tea table looking at it with a blank expression. He turned his gaze to me."Uh...I was...well I was going to tell you
ArunaI swallowed down the lump that was forming in my throat. No, I needed him to know, now that he had trusted me with his past. I needed to be by his side and to assure him that he wasn't a murderer. He killed, yes but who wouldn't? Who would love to live and tolerate the torture until that insane creature's death? If he would escape and the man would still be alive I am sure he would have found him and Sumit would suffer more than he was already suffering and
ArunaIt was after a few moments that I realized that I was being kissed by the person who I was in love with and who was actually in love with me. The thought made my body warm all over.
SumitMy lips twitched in a ghost of a smile. I nodded and went into the kitchen. Preparing two steaming mugs of hot chocolate instead, I went back to the other room.I was panicking internally as I watched Aruna take a seat on the
Aruna"Will you be alright?" Rashu asked in a concerned voice. I nodded with a small smile. After I had ended the phone call, Sumit hadn't called back, not even once. I had fallen asleep while preparing my thesis and wasn't even aware when he had come back last night and when he left. The only inkling of his recent detour to the apartment was the haywire condition of the bathroom. That man for the life of him couldn't keep things in
Sumit"Do you have any freaking idea what you did? Of what effect it can have on Aruna?!" Rohit bellowed in my soundproof office. I was sat in my high back chair, my temples throbbing consistently. I started massaging it to ease the ache but my brother's shouting worsened it.
ArunaI stared at the screen. The phone kept buzzing. The better part of me wanted to throw the damned device but didn't do it because right now I didn't need to go through the hassle of buying a new phone. The buzzing stopped. I wa
