Mazelina

“How’s my girl?” I ask Lotty via mind-link. I can see from her mind that she’s alone in her room, playing with her dolls.

“Mommy! Are you here?” she squeals in my head, but to anyone who may be in her room, they wouldn’t notice a thing.

“I am, but don’t tell anyone. It’s a surprise.”

“I love surprises.” She says, excitedly.

“Do you remember your hiding spot?”

“Yes, Mommy. Do I go there now?”

“Yes, baby girl. Whatever you hear, don’t come out until I come in and get you. Okay?”

“Is this part of the surprise?” she asks.

“Yes, Mommy wants to surprise Uncle Blaze and Daddy. I’m going to make lots of funny noises, but don’t worry, it’s just to scare them.”

“Like that time, we scared Uncle Blaze.” she giggles as she climbs into her hiding spot.

“Yes, exactly like that time. You were so good; you didn’t make a peep.”

“I’m in my spot mommy.”

“Good Girl. Quiet now. I’ll see you soon.”

I can feel her smile and excitement. She’s excited to see me and that makes my heart bl

Mazelina My eyes sweep over Aries for the hundredth time since he arrived. My once tall, proud brother is now seething with rage, and it’s all directed at me. When Aries first arrived, he lost it. He lunged at me with his claws out, ready to kill me. I had never seen my brother like that. He was always indifferent about things, stoic I suppose some would say, but never angry and never angry at me, annoyed at his little sister but never angry. Now we are seated in the sitting room of my little brother's home with Aries on the opposite side of the room. Alice is pissed. Blaze is in shock that our brother tried to attack me. Rush is behind me, his hand squeezing my shoulder. Elion is in the center, ensuring my safety from Aries. I don’t know what to do or say. I expected he would be upset, but nothing like this. Where the hell is his mate? She should be here helping him calm down. Rush squeezes my shoulder harder; I caress his hand to remind him to let up. He releases his grip but

Rush We’ve been here as a family for three days. The best three days of my life, a week ago I was fucked up, drugs, alcohol, women…. loads of women and now my life has done a complete 360, I’ve become a family man overnight. I’ll never be able to thank Mazelina enough, but I hope this can be the start. “We have everything in its place. She’ll be here any minute!” Alice beams and springs into action, running back to the house to greet Mazy. “She’s going to go nuts.” Elion laughs. He’s just as giddy as Alice is. Blaze is having a tough time wrangling the kids to stay quiet. Lotty tugs on my shirt. “What’s up, kiddo?” “Mommy isn’t happy that we’re not home. Should I tell her?” She looks at me, worries in her beautiful green eyes. “Remember when Mommy surprised Uncle Blaze, Uncle Elion, and me?” She nods her head in understanding. “This is a surprise for Mommy.” “Okay.” Her eyes widen. She tugs harder and I pick her up. “It’s okay baby, Mommy will love her surprise.” She shakes h

Rush We party until the sun rises. “You and I are going to make the most of the sunrise.” I take her by the hand and lead her out into the forest. “We’re going for a run?” she giggles. “We’re doing more than a run, baby.” I then tell her in mind-link so the nosy wolves can’t hear, “We can’t do what I want to do to you in the house, not with the kids in there sleeping.” She laughs. “I like the way you think.” I take her deeper into the woods so we’re far enough away from the house and the security, so they won’t hear us. We both laugh along the way like young pups until I find the picnic blanket, I had laid out for us earlier. She puts her hands on her hips. “You had this planned!” “Of course.” She laughs again but stops abruptly when I tear her dress apart, “Rush, I wanted to keep that for Lotty.” I look at the torn fabric and shrug. “We can have a new one made for her.” “And what shall I wear when we go back home?” I point to the basket. “There’s no food in that basket, just

Mazelina “What have I done?” someone repeats over and over again and it’s giving me a headache. “Samara shut the fuck up.” “Well, well, well, you’re finally awake.” “Just let me sleep.” The “What have I done?” keeps going. I roll onto my back in a huff. “Would it kill you to give me some peace?” “It’s not me.”, “It’s our dumbass brother. He’s got himself in a bit of state.” I blink up at the ceiling, “How long have I been out?” “About twenty-nine hours.” I sit up quickly and lean against the wall, “Rush must be frantic.” “Landon will have informed him. We have bigger problems.” “I know.” I roll my eyes. Oh, how I know… “Aries thinks he lost his wolf.” “Serves him right.” I pull my knees up to my chest and hug my legs. “He hasn’t.” “I hate when you do this. Were you speaking to his wolf?” “Yep, Lox has purposely blocked him since he rejected their mate.” “Wait…. Aries said his mate rejected him.” “Nope. Lox said that their mate wanted to look after him.

Mazelina Aries’s been in a pitiful state since Asim left us. It’s been hours of sobbing and mumbling apologies to all the people he has hurt. I place my hands on my knees and try to concentrate again. Slowly exhale and take a deep breath. I do this repeatedly but to no avail. “Aries, please for the love of Goddess, be quiet.” He sniffles, “We need to find a way out.” “I know.” A thought occurs to me, “If you saw Daisy again if you had one more chance, what would you do?” He laughs at first but then gets really quiet for a while before answering, “I would grovel on my hands and knees and tell her I’m sorry. Sorry for every hurtful thing I’ve done and said to her over the last few years. I would release her from me if that’s what she wants.” “And if she somehow found it in her heart to forgive you?” “I would spend the rest of my days making it up to her.” He sniffles again. “I don’t know if she will forgive me, Maze. I can barely forgive myself. I’m shocked that you even forgive m

Mazelina Hmm, I can smell bacon and pancakes. Yes! Landon is making his bacon and waffle special. It’s been a long time, I smile, and my belly grumbles. “Good, you are awake.” A snarky voice states. I stiffen and open my eyes finding Asim hovering over me, “I’ve bought you breakfast.” He says as two guards come in with a table and chair. I sit up and swing my legs around watching as they leave, and another comes in with a cloth and cutlery and sets the table. While another comes in with salt and pepper and other condiments, that same guard places the food on the table and pulls the chair out for me. “Sit.” Asim orders from the opposite side, pulling his own chair out. He must have already eaten because there is no setting for him, just me and loads of food, bacon, eggs, pastries, and fruit. I contemplate being trouble but what the hell I’m hungry. I take the chair provided and sit, taking in all the food. “Last meal I guess?” I ask as I take a little of everything. Asim pours a

Mazelina Aries and I have our strategy in place, but I know he’s still nervous. He knows I have many abilities, but I’ve kept most of them to myself. I don’t want Aries to give us away, especially when he tends to bark first. Our ‘last meal' was hours ago. Asim had clothes sent to both Aries and me. I’m now wearing a satin white dress. I roll my eyes at how predictable he is. My brother is wearing a Tux. Who knew it was tradition to wear over-the-top gowns and tuxedos to an execution? I sigh glancing at the sky through the small window of my cell, the moon is high. I know it’s getting close. Everyone feels restless, I’ve had to block them and meditate to conserve my power, for what I’m about to do will take a lot of energy. A guard opens the cell, he sneers at me. “Get up!” he commands. I slowly stand and roll my shoulders, but the guard grabs me roughly and throws me out of the cell. “Hey! What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Aries shouts at him. “Shut up cripple!” “The

Rush All I can hear and see are jaws snapping and claws swiping through the air, I’ve lost sight of Mazy, but I know she’s okay, Landon and Aries are with her, and they’ll help protect her until I get to that fucking stage. I’ve always hated that dais. My father loved it. He would hold court with an over-the-top throne-like chair, so he could look down his nose at all of his people. My people or they were, now they’re fighting me. I make my way through the crowd, grabbing a wolf with my jaw and throwing him up in the air. His neck breaks and I dump him on the ground. I swipe at the wolves left and right, getting closer to the dais. Two Guardians are holding Mazy while another throws a right hook to her beautiful face. I growl, stalking the stage. I’m going to kill that motherfucker! He punches her again. She says something to him as he leans over her. Suddenly the world spins, my chest burns, and I hear a terrible guttural howl. Four months later Landon Nobody knows the sorrow I have for Estelle. Not because I still love her; strangely, I don’t love her at all. I don’t even hate her. Instead, I feel sorrow for my son, who will never know his mother; however, despised she was, Estelle was still Jeremy’s mother. I watch him sleep soundly in his big boy bed. It’ll be our last night at our home. I quietly exit his bedroom and slowly close the door so as not to disturb him. “Are you ready?” Flora asks; this woman has been a blessing. “Yes. Jeremy is sound asleep; I have everything packed and ready to go.” “Good. Let me know if you need anything. I’m on call.” She taps her head and walks to my front door. “Thanks again, Flora.” She takes my hands in hers. “Eva was my only comfort in that horrible place. I will do anything, absolutely anything, to get her back.” She grins broadly, “She’s gonna love you.” “Flora, let’s go already.” Elion gripes. I wave goodbye to them both. Rush Everyone is cheering. Mazelina did it; she defeated the bitch. I look down at our daughter. “It’s okay, baby girl. Mommy won.” Charlotte shakes her head and points up at the sky, “Mommy is falling.” I look up and see Maze is shifting into human form and falling fast. “Catch her!” I command the dragon’s; the order is unnecessary as they’re already flying to grab her. One dragon, Brenton, catches her. He swiftly shifts as he lands, holding Maze in his human arms. “Thank you, Brenton,” I tell him as Alice takes Charlotte from me, taking her to Akers with the other children. Fenrir is already on the ground, his brothers and sister holding him down while Landon guards them with a few other guards, keeping Fenrir’s Coven from taking him. Brenton lays Maze slowly, carefully to the ground. Samara comes to our side. “I don’t understand. This should not be happening; the balance is restored.” “She took a dagger to the heart, Samara. We’re not all completely immortal.” I tell her as I

The constant ringing in my ears is what pulls me back; I can’t hear anything else. My heart is racing, and yet my breathing is calm. I open my eyes slowly and see stars; no, not stars, it’s like little white spots. I must have hit my head pretty hard.I realize I am on my back and see the starry dark sky as the white spots slowly disappear. “What the hell was that?” I touch my head; under my fingers, I feel a large lump growing smaller and smaller. Soon it will be gone. I turn my head and see Samara staring back at me, our fingers almost touching. “Samara?” I call for her inside my head.Tears run down my cheeks; I’m so used to hearing her. Please talk to me, Samara. She doesn’t answer. I stare at her glassy eyes. No! She can’t be gone; this was supposed to work. Samara’s eyes blink at me, and sh

A table, not like the pretty dais Samara’s body is currently laying on, except this one has straps. “We aren’t going to make it. I can’t shift.” “I’m sorry, Mazelina. All of this is my fault.” Samara cries.“We will not cry, Sam. We will be strong till the end.” I feel a little bit stronger and decide I’m not going down without a fight. I struggle out of both of the Vampire’s arms.Vamp One’s head slams against the stone wall with a loud crack, his face frozen in a permanent grimace. Vamp Two tackles me to the ground.“She’s going to shift!” he screams out. Another pair of arms hold me as they pick me up. Geri grins at me, his fangs out, ready to bite me.“Do it. I’m sure your brother would love you to bite me.” I sneer.“Be careful what you wish for, little wolf.” His grip loosens, and I knee him in the balls. Fenrir The girl is infuriating. I know she’s lying to me. Samara is telling her so much more than she’s letting on. But I have another card up my sleeve, one that will even shock Samara. They will both see how deadly serious I am about bringing my beloved back to me. After three flights down to the underground, we come to the most secure part of our home. There are no guards down here. It is that secure. Only two people in this world will know what is beyond this door, me and now Mazelina. I enter the encrypted code, the retina scan slides out and scans my eyes, next is a pinch of my blood, another code, and the door unlocks. The entire castle could blow to smithereens, but, this room is impenetrable. It could outlive me if I weren’t immortal. Mazelina shivers behind me, “My apologies, I sometimes forget how cold it is down here.” I take my coat and drape it around her shoulders. She smiles appreciatively, likely thinking that I’m kind. She is only but the vessel of my beloved. I
